**Apple Watch Redesign and New Features Announced**

Apple has confirmed that the new version of its Apple Watch will feature a redesigned aesthetic, with flat sides similar to those found on current iPad models. This is according to reports from Prosser, who claims that the watch's design is similar to Apple's current iPad Air. The existing iPad Air, which features flat sides, can be used as an example of what the new Apple Watch may look like.

In addition to the redesign, the new Apple Watch will also feature a new green color option, although it is unclear if this will be a permanent addition or a limited-edition release. Apple has not yet confirmed whether the watch will be available in aluminum or steel with this new color option.

**Accessibility Features Get a Major Update**

Apple has announced a range of new accessibility features for its devices, including the Apple Watch. The company claims that these updates will enable users to control their devices using gestures and other methods that are more intuitive for those who are blind or have other disabilities.

One of the key features is the ability to sign purchases and access online content with ease, thanks to a new feature called "Sign-In". This allows users to make purchases without having to enter passwords or PINs. Apple has confirmed that this feature will be available on May 20th, although no release date for the rest of the accessibility updates has been announced yet.

The company's efforts to improve accessibility have been widely praised by those in the disability community, who are excited to see such significant progress being made. The new features on the Apple Watch and other devices are expected to make it easier for users with disabilities to interact with technology and access the services they need.

**Google Pledges Support for Matter**

Google has announced its commitment to supporting the Matter protocol, a platform that allows smart home devices to communicate with each other. This means that Google's Nest products will be able to work seamlessly with Apple HomeKit-enabled devices, eliminating the need for users to worry about compatibility issues between different networks or platforms.

The company claims that this development is a major step forward in creating a more connected and convenient smart home experience. The Matter protocol has already been certified by several manufacturers, including Samsung and IKEA, and it is likely that we will see more devices supporting the platform in the coming months.

**Apple Software Development Updates**

This week saw the release of several beta versions of Apple's software updates, including iPad OS 14.7, Watch OS 7.6, Mac OS 11.5, and TV OS 14.7. In addition to these updates, a Release Candidate (RC) version of iPad OS 14.6 was also made available.

The latest beta versions include several new features, such as the ability to set timers for HomePod within the Home app. However, Apple has not yet released any detailed information about what is new and improved in each update, and it is likely that we will see more significant updates with the release of 14.7.

In the meantime, public and developer betas are already available for download, allowing users to test out the latest features and report back to Apple.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwhat's up everyone have you met my dog this is dublin can you see the camera buddy wanna say hi yeah well that is just one of the dogs that likes to interrupt me while i'm filming but no time for that go play buddy it's done for this weekend apple welcome everybody it is andrew here see it's everyone it is andrew here and i have a lot of stuff to talk to you about this week i'm very very excited very happy to be here oh it really has been a long week there's been apple announcements their apple hardware releases there's the epic trial ongoing just a ton of stuff to break through so we're talking about epic we're going to talk about all the apple new gear we're going to talk about a bunch of other new accessories that have launched this week um yeah and right now with a little bit news at the end so let's go ahead and dive into the latest episode of this week in apple our top story this week once more is epic v apple the trial is ongoing but things got spicy this week as a number of apple executives took the stand starting off with apple fellow phil schiller that took the stand earliest in the week where we learned a couple new things including that apple is creating a new development site at its headquarters out in cupertino this new development center will help support the developers that make the app store what it is today he also revealed that apple spends 50 million dollars each year putting on wwdc or as attendees like to call it dub dub apple brought in more than a hundred million dollars thanks to fortnite being on the app store now we don't know how high could go basically just that it is above 100 million it could be as high as 320 350 million dollars for your believe a sensor tower which kind of just pulls data from other sources to give you an idea on how much something is costing or bringing in but we don't know how accurate that is all we know is that apple's bringing more than 100 million from fortnite or at least it was before it got kicked off the app store craig federicki took the stand next hair force one and he revealed a few tidbits as well the most interesting was how he basically threw the mac under the bus to save the app store it came down to talking about security and how ios differs from the mac and how the mac does have a you know a multiple source approach of where you can get applications from you can pull apps from setup you can pull them from the mac app store you can pull them from online there are a lot of sources you can get apps on the mac but federici says that the mac has an unacceptable malware problem he has had family members himself get malware on his mac and it is not okay but ios is set up differently in between the app store and other security features it keeps that malware issue from plugging the iphone like it does the mac so while epic seems to want apple to make the iphone more like the mac this is a big defense on apple's part of why they don't want that to happen another big topic this week was the announcement that apple dropped on monday and that is two new features coming to apple music first up apple music is including lossless audio two different tiers of lossless audio to apple music subscribers completely free for no additional cost you now get a lossless and a high res losses version of a ton of music from apple music there will be a huge array at the beginning but by the end of the year pretty much everything in the apple music catalog will be available in lossless format now there are a lot of debates about this because one apple does not allow losses to work with its airpods max airpods pro or of course airpods now there's a lot of people that are upset about that because this is a very expensive set of headphones it doesn't work with apple's new lossless format however leaker john prosser says apple is working on its own codec to solve that issue basically the limitation relies on aac aac is just the audio codec that apple is using to transmit audio to its headphones airpods airpod max and the like but there's a limitation on how much bandwidth there is there so apple is going to be creating its own codec to work with its own headphones on ios that will enable you to stream that lossless format now none of this is you know locked in stone yet but it sounds like it could be a possibility and makes sense because apple did release these fairly recently and yet there's no lossless support so it would make sense for apple to go that route but i think what is more impressive is the new spatial audio so spatial audio is now coming to apple music and it works with airpods airpods pro and airpods max so you have any of apple's headphones like that as well as beat headphones and some third-party headphones you can listen to dolby atmos audio from apple music basically sound that comes in front of you behind you left and right and even above you apple's partnering with a few different artists like casey musgraves and maroon 5 and a few others at launch to provide thousands of tracks and they'll continue to add more and more over time i think that is going to be the killer feature most people can't tell the difference between losses and regular audio anyway the audiophiles out there that are going to be excited about lossless already have a setup they've already got you know external speakers and other things they use to play music where they're going to be happy with the lossless editions but the masses we're going to be happy with spatial audio coming to our headphones as far as new gear for the week a lot of stuff to talk about now i don't have anything to show you right now because i had to record this a night ahead of time i had to record this on thursday night for all of you fine people out there because on friday it is apple launch day on may 21st apple will be releasing its new apple tv with the updated siri remote the new 24-inch imac in all these gorgeous colors and two new ipad pros the 11 and the 12.9 inch all of them will be showing up at my studio tomorrow morning and i have a ton ton of video content that i cannot wait to get out for you guys so this had to come today so i don't have anything fun to show you today nothing fun to show off so you just have to stay tuned literally after this video probably an hour so after this goes live i'm going to have a first video up so just stay tuned here turn that notification on so you can see everything as we're pumping it out lots of questions answered so if you have any questions let me know find me on twitter andrew underscore osu and i'll get back to you in those videos hopefully but yeah new apple day today if you're watching this when this video drops other stuff that came out we saw new versions of the beats studio buds or pro something that that leaked in apple's most recent betas so the beats studio pro beat studio buds whatever they want to call them in the end whatever the final marketing name is is a whole new form factor for beats that are true wireless earbuds similar to airbots pro and i believe they have noise canceling built in but they're going with the beats branding rather than the apple branding so if you are a fan of the beats line stay tuned these could be coming very soon of course we had a bunch of other product releases too from third parties belkin released the sound form connect which is an airplay 2 adapter for any of your terrestrial speakers so if you use some typical speakers that aren't connected not smart speakers add this and yeah you can turn them into airplay 2 speakers to cast audio from your iphone your ipad or your mac great new little dongle to be released we saw new apple watch bands from nomad i'm wearing one right here and i can't tell you how much i love it this is their stainless steel band and it's actually in graphite now to match the graphite color of the apple watch and it's glossy to also match the glossy exterior of the stainless steel apple watch so i really like this can i get in close is this too weird i'm gonna have a review of this soon i like don't have it up by the time you guys are watching this but how slick does that band look and it has this here too this is a new magnetic clasp it's perfectly thin and you squeeze the sides and it can come apart so it actually comes into two different pieces and it just boom magnetically connects together so big fan of that so a new metal stainless steel and a titanium version of nomad watch bands that was released and pop sockets has released its line of mac safe accessories there are mounts there are wallets and there are pop sockets what this means folks is that if you are a fan of pop sockets but you want to be able to use magsafe you can now do both so put pop sockets on your iphone rock it all day but you get into the car pop it off put into a mount uh or when you get home pop it off and put onto a magsafe charger and then put it on when you go so you have all the advantages of the pop socket but also all the advantages of magsafe these were announced at ces and i'm so excited that they're finally out and starting the ship last but not least 12 south included an updated version of its book book case for iphone 12. this new version has a new redesigned inner shell portion that includes support for magsafe so if you already bought the bookbook for iphone 12 and you want to upgrade to this new one with mag save you can just buy a new version of the shell for 20 bucks keep your outer folio and that way you have the best of both worlds you've got the book book thing going on the folio on the outside but you also have magsafe that you can use on the shell case by itself so whether that's car mounts chargers anything like that it'll work with the updated bookbook case it's time for the grab bag that's right we got a lot of stuff to talk about still just a few more stories to get through first apple has been working of course on a new version the apple watch apple watch series 7 slated to be released later this year a few sources including john prosser are out with stories and renderings uh and concept images of what this new watch is supposed to look like based on what people have seen and schematics that they've seen basically the new version of the apple watch is going to have a redesign with flat sides and i believe prosser described it very similar to apple's current ipad aesthetic so if you have seen those flat sides in fact i've got right here the existing ipad air which is perfect for this so existing ipad air flat side this is kind of the look that prosser says the new watch is going to take on but furthermore he also there's gonna be a new green color option so i don't know it's gonna match this green the green that apple's already doing but i am wary personally because i did not like the green as much on the iphone as i did the blue the blue is lit it is fire i love it the green not as much so i'm interested to see what apple does here are they gonna go with the aluminum or the steel is going to be color options kind of like they've done with the max and the ipad airs recently i don't know but possibly a new redesigned apple watch coming later this year other news from apple includes a huge array of new accessibility features there's new signing abilities for people to get support and purchase things through their iphone there's a bunch of new accessibility features coming to iphone and ipad itself but what i thought was most interesting is new features come into the apple watch it allows you to control things by fist clenches finger touches they can read all that on your apple watch so all these new gestures that are simply amazing the work that the accessibility team did to bring this functionality to you know other able people is amazing and there's a few you know blind and other people that i know that have flocked to apple for their support of accessibility features and this is the biggest update yet that apple has done and it's truly incredible stuff they've done for iphone ipad as well as apple watch this time around so there's no firm release date on a lot of these yet uh the signing features i believe is outstarting on may 20th so on the day that i'm recording this but the rest of the stuff is still you know tbd but it's very exciting to see and i cannot wait for apple to share more on that and we'll definitely do some videos walking through some of these new accessibility features now during google i o google pledged support for matter which we kind of knew but further google has now committed to bringing a lot of its nest products into the matter space so matter which used to be project chip connected home over ip is a way for all smart home products to talk to one another it's great because one product can be certified and matter and work with homekit amazon's assistant as well as google assistant you know how no longer having to worry if it works with one network or the other anything like that but what that means for homekit users you apple folks specifically is that google's smart displays and its smart speakers those are going to be updated to work with matter and it is updating its entry-level nest thermostat to work with matter as well which means we can expect the nest thermostat to finally be natively available within homekit we don't know when these updates are coming but matter is starting to certify products later this year so we could see it by year's end if not 2022 the year we're gonna see nest products showing up in homekit lastly in apple software development uh lots of stuff this week we saw the first betas of 14.7 ipad os 14.7 watch os 7.6 mac os 1115 and tv os 14.7 on top of that we got the rcs of all the previous stuff so the release candidates of 14.6 so we're really expecting 14.6 to drop possibly next week very soon and then following that apple is going to continue its testing of 14.7 and all the other updates too so there's not much we found so far there's ability to set timers for homepod within the home app but otherwise apple hasn't included much in this point update so stay tuned on that but public and developer betas are already out for 14.7 and 14.6 is in rc mode so we should see that very very soon if you're wondering what is different in that you know what to do check those links down below in the description so that pretty much covers it for this week it's still been a lot of stuff i'm still excited to talk to you guys i hope you guys enjoyed hanging out seeing dublin today dog reveal episode uh but either way stay tuned apple insider we have a whole lot of great content coming let me know on twitter if you have any questions on anything new at andrew underscore osu i love you guys so much i'll see you in the next episode you\n"
