Creating the Ultimate Portable Movie Theater: A Honda Ridgeline Build

Honda recently gave us the chance to make our wildest pickup truck dreams come true and to trick out a bunch of their new Ridgeline trucks in this series, you're gonna see what I and the tested team that's Norm Simone Sean Kishore and Frank came up with. Let's get started so here's what I want to do with my ridgeline actually instead of just telling you what the build is let me paint a picture.

Imagine you're going on a camping trip with a whole bunch of friends and you've been told that your task is to bring the entertainment. You pull your truck up to the campsite and start handing out chairs like this one sitting in the back and the bed of your truck. While everyone's setting those chairs up, you pull out a control panel flip a switch and something inflates out of the bed. It turns out it's an inflatable movie screen and you unfold a projector and now you're projecting into that movie screen. You've made a capital off-roading portable movie theater. That's what I'm going to build first up.

To start, I want to make some measurements. Alright alright that should be enough for the first step. First step inflate the inflatable screen. This is actually an outdoor backyard inflatable movie screen it's perfect for my needs probably so I want to see how fast it inflates what kind of structure it might need. The structure of this is going to inform a good portion of my build. As I take a closer look, I can see that it's going to be a bit of a challenge to get the screen inflated quickly and efficiently.

As I continue to examine the inflatable screen, I start thinking about how I can make it as close to a one-button operation as possible. Clearly, I have to make a box that holds the screen that's to hold it for packing and driving and then it has to unfold and support the screen for watching. This is going to require some extra steps, but I'm excited to get started on making my own custom solution. What I see next is right, so this sits up against the projector box in the back of the truck but it folds out and will hold a very important part of the movie-going experience.

I still need to lay all the chairs out here and figure out how they secure to this. But that's pretty much the plan, I think we're ready to mount it in the truck up let's see if I measure correctly the test fit there we go look good yeah looking good test fit successful. All right, I'm very happy all right so we take my truck and we head out to the campsite. Norm Sean and Simone are with me because as you'll see in later videos their trucks are enhancing our camping experience as well.

After all that building, we're pretty hungry so soon after we get there norm gets started on dinner. I've got a spoonful of apple pie and I can only mean one thing - dinner. The delicious dinner is now over and it's time to watch a movie. It's showtime! It's time to put up my portable theater first up, put up the chairs can't have moving mm audience next step plug this ah it works here comes wake up my pretty wake up you uh connect bear oh there we go oh right I think that's it who wants to watch a movie.

The screen is being kept inflated by AC power provided right here in the truck bed and the sound that we're hearing is coming right from the truck bed audio. It's amazing how well everything has come together, and I'm excited to share my portable movie theater with all of you.
