The Sony Xperia Z3: A Fluid Android Experience
We have the Sony Xperia Z3 device with us today, and it's clear that this is a premium Android smartphone. The device comes pre-installed with various apps, including Sony Music, Kobo Office Suite, File Commander, and several Sony-specific apps like Sony Live and Big Flicks. While some of these apps may be considered bloatware, they do add to the overall user experience.
One notable feature on this device is Google Now, which can be accessed by swiping in a specific direction. When connected to a Wi-Fi network, Google Now becomes easily accessible, allowing users to quickly access information and perform tasks without having to navigate through menus. We also have the Chrome web browser on board, which loads quickly and features a pinch-to-zoom gesture that works smoothly.
The Xperia Z3 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor clocked at 2.5 GHz, accompanied by three gigs of RAM and an Adreno 330 GPU. This provides a powerful performance foundation for the device. One thing to note about the keyboard is that it has ample space, but unfortunately, there is no dedicated row for numbers on the default keyboard.
The screen quality on this device is excellent, with crisp visuals and a responsive touch interface. We tested the device by playing a YouTube video embedded in a webpage, which played smoothly without any issues. The speaker also delivers clear and loud sound, making it suitable for watching videos or listening to music on the go.
In terms of camera performance, the Xperia Z3 has a 20.7-megapixel rear-facing camera that can focus quickly and capture sharp images. We took some sample shots with the device and were pleased with the results. However, we did notice that the phone tends to heat up when using the camera for extended periods, which may cause issues in the long run.
Overall, our experience with the Sony Xperia Z3 has been positive, with a fluid Android interface and impressive performance. While there are some minor drawbacks, such as the lack of a dedicated number row on the keyboard and occasional overheating during prolonged camera usage, these issues do not detract from the device's overall appeal. The Xperia Z3 is an excellent choice for those looking for a high-end Android smartphone with a premium feel.
For pricing, the Mrp for this device in India is around 51,000, but we found it listed on Flipkart for around 49,000. This may be slightly above average, but considering the device's features and performance, it's still a worthwhile investment for those looking to upgrade their Android experience.
In conclusion, our time with the Sony Xperia Z3 has been informative, and we're excited to see how this device performs in real-world usage. If you have any specific questions or concerns about the device, feel free to post them in the comments section below, and we'll do our best to address them in a future review.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi there this is ranjit and i have the sony xperia z3 with me and in this video we'll be having a first look and i'll also give you my initial impressions regarding this device and actually there is nothing in the box as this is just a demo uh unit that's review unit so i don't have all the accessories in it uh we just had the starter guide uh the safety and regulatory information etc and we do get this device in multiple colors that's white this is that brownish color that we have and obviously the black one and also gives us some of the specs actually in the specs department it's very similar to the xperia z2 but this one is slightly thinner compared to the xperia z2 and let me actually give you a physical overview first and i have actually set up this phone also so that we do not waste time on the top we have the 3.5 mm headphone jack and this is the secondary microphone another thing that you will notice is that now uh it's actually rounded so it actually gives a lot better feel and on this end we have a flap again it is ip68 certified hence it's water resistant and in here you add your micro sd card and here uh the tray comes out and you add your nano sim do not that it has nano sim not a micro sim uh we also have to power button which is uh actually a metallic this is the volume rocker we do get a dedicated button for the camera and on the bottom again nothing and we do also have this opening i'm not very sure why this is there because the speakers are front facing on this actually uh the earpiece and this one is also a speaker so we have stereo speakers and this is for the dock accessories and if you open this you have the micro usb slot that'll be used for charging this device moving towards the back we have the main camera that is a 20.7 megapixel camera led flash and it has the sony g lens and it can record video also up to 4k we have nfc again sorry branding and this back is again glass and it actually looks very good but again it's a fingerprint magnet if you notice uh it you get fingerprints very easily we just have the expedia branding over here moving towards the front we have the main earpiece uh the front-facing camera is a 2.2 megapixel which can also record video in full hd let me actually uh boot up this device now and as you can see uh the screen is a 5.2 inch screen which is a 1080p full hd screen and actually have been testing this device for the last couple of hours and i'm really impressed with the screen quality that sony has provided the buttons are also part of the display and the earpiece as well as this one are actually speakers also so we do get that stereo effect with this one and the first thing that striked me about this one uh was the display uh the display quality is excellent on this device uh i always used to complain about sony phones for example the xperia z1 did not have a good display uh sony did improve it with the xperia z2 but definitely this xperia z3 is in a different class i actually watched quite a bit of videos etc on this device and the screen quality is actually amazing see the viewing angles it's amazing and the quality of the screen that they have protest very good it's very pleasing to the eyes it's not overly sharp or and the viewing angles are also great let's look at the android version that we get and just go here to the quick settings if we go to about the device as you can see the model number is d6653 and the android version is 4.4.4 that is kitkat so you are getting the latest version of android out of the box with this device so let me just get out one thing to notice that the xperia z2 that was sold in india did not have 4g lte support for india but this xperia z3 has 4g lte support for india regarding storage the internal storage is 16 gigs but you can also add a micro sd card and let me actually show you the storage now and i haven't installed a lot of just one app i have installed uh so out of the box you do get about 11 odd gb but after google finished updating all the apps etc we roughly have about 10.2 gb of space that is available to us and looks like usb otg support is also there on this xperia z3 i'll test that in my full review so let's go back and regarding wi-fi it does support both the bands that is 2.4 gigahertz as well as the 5 gigahertz wi-fi band and this is the notification tray and you can go to quick settings via this one one thing to notice that i have been uh i switched on this phone now for about eight nine hours and i have my one of my sim inserted and looks like the battery life is pretty good it's at 94 percent the battery though is sealed inside it's a 3100 milliamp hour battery and sony claims that the battery life on this device should be very good so i'm hoping that the battery life would be good and let's look at the app tray and we do have quite a bit of apps that are pre-installed for example playstation we have and this news from social feel etc and we do have some sony specific apps also like life log and we do have fm radio on this device we have sony music and we do have this kobo office suit and file commander is also pre-installed and we have some sony specific apps like sony live and even big flicks so some bloatware is there on this device i did install one app that was a droid apart from that everything is sort of stock and again it's very familiar sony uh experience that you get and overall the experience is actually very fluid on this device uh you do get access to google now also if you just swipe like this if you go this way you can access google now and as we are connected to the wi-fi network uh let's just quickly fire up this chrome web browser and uh if you just notice how quickly it loaded and again the pinch to zoom gesture is very good now if we talk about the processor on this xperia z3 it's powered by a snapdragon 801 that's a quad-core processor clocked at 2.5 gigahertz and it has three gigs of ram the gpu is the arduino 330 gpu and this is the keyboard that we get uh let's just uh go to our website that's tech2bus.com one thing to notice that though we have ample space there is no dedicated row for the numbers on this default keyboard though we have ample space over here though the keyboard is customizable but i could not add a dedicated row for the numbers on the keyboard again i have today the screen quality is actually very good on this device uh let's just open up one of the stories for example i'll just open this up and we have a youtube video embedded on this webpage so let's see how it handles it and here is the video so let me just play that and let's change the orientation also and this is ranjit and i have the spy stream uh which is one of the most affordable android one devices out there and in this video as you can see it's playing it without any issues let me maximize the volume it's at max volume and then quickly let me just get out of this one now and this uh let me just swipe it away so in terms of web browsing it looks like you'll have a decent experience also the phone is very fluid to operate uh as you can see the skin uh though it's a custom skin it's handling it without any issues but one thing i did notice is that i'll talk about that a bit later first let's actually look at the camera also on this one and i have taken some sample shots uh and that i'll show you and the rear facing camera is a 20.7 megapixel camera and let me bring these objects nearby and if you just tap in you can focus on a particular object like this and it quickly takes the snap as you can see let's just preview those and as you can see uh the shot came out to be pretty good the flash did not fire then also if even zoom in we have a lot of detail in the pictures uh so overall the camera looks actually pretty good here are some more pictures that i took with this device and as you can see the picture quality is actually pretty good with this one uh and it does offer a lot of sharpness i did not do extensive testing but these are some of the sample shots that i took and initial impressions the camera looks to be pretty good but one thing that happened after i took the photographs i must have been taking the photographs for about five six minutes uh and the photographs came out fine but when i went to the home screen uh after that the phone was pretty hot it was getting pretty hot over this area uh but when i went to the home after using the camera for about five six minutes uh the phone actually completely froze the touch response was simply not working and i had to keep this power button press it for about 10 seconds for the power menu to come and i had to reboot this device i'm just assuming that it's just a one-off issue but i did tweet about it and one more user uh also said that yes the phone tends to heat up a little bit and when it does the cpu throttles are bad so i will be testing this phone a lot more for the next few days overall uh for the package it looks pretty good but regarding the pricing at least in india i think so the pricing is slightly on the higher side the mrp for this device is around 51 000 but i checked this flip card and on flipkart it was listing for around 49 000 or so so that's it for now for this quick look on the sony xperia z3 if you have any specific questions around this device do post them in the comments and i'll try to include them in my review thank you for watching this video this is ranjit and i hope to see you in my next videohi there this
