**Review: Xiaomi Pad 6 - A Balanced Tablet with Great Performance**
In this review, we will take a closer look at the Xiaomi Pad 6, a tablet that has been gaining attention in recent months. As someone who has reviewed many tablets, I was excited to see how this device would hold up against some of the more unknown tablets out there.
One of the first things I noticed about the Pad 6 is its screen. It's very lightly and then slowly starts to press heavy and heavier as you go. This is getting thicker, and I think it's a good status. The screen is also better than some of the styluses I've reviewed on more unknown tablets that I do often cover in the channel.
When it comes to battery life, it all depends on what refresh rate you're going to run. If you set it to 60, you'll probably get around 10 hours. However, if you use the dynamic refresh rate, which is what I would recommend, you'll get about 9-10 hours. If you're gaming, then it will be about 4-5 hours, and if you decide to just keep it all the time at 144 Hertz with a smooth refresh rate, it will take around 50-49 frames per second on top settings.
The Pad 6 has a very good battery life for an 11-inch tablet. It's become my now recommended tablet for those of you out there that want a balanced tablet that doesn't thermal throttle too much. It does a little bit of performance in general, which is very good, even though this is a dated chipset. The Snapdragon 870 really shows how good it was when it came out, and it's still one of my favorites.
The Pad 6 also has a stylus, the Smart Pen 2nd Generation, with 4096 pressure levels. It has good accuracy and very good response time. The lag on it is it seems very good even in third-party applications. The stylus keyboard is also very good.
In terms of build quality, the Pad 6 is solid. It's got a good thickness to it, and we've got video out from the USB 3.1, which is finally a feature that Xiaomi has included on this device.
One thing that I did notice was that there is no 3.5mm headphone jack on this device. This was one of my raves about tablets in general, but unfortunately, it's not something that Xiaomi has included here.
Another thing to note is the microSD card support. Be very careful with what capacity you get, as the basic entry-level model only comes with 6GB of RAM and a limited amount of storage. However, if you go for the higher-end models, which come with 8 or 256GB of storage, it's definitely worth considering.
The pricing of the Pad 6 is also something to consider. At the time of me recording this video, I don't fully know all the pricing details, but it does seem that it will be around the same price as some other mid-range tablets out there.
Overall, I'm very happy with my experience with the Xiaomi Pad 6. It's a great device for anyone looking for a balanced tablet that doesn't thermal throttle too much. The performance is excellent, and the screen is one of the best I've seen on any tablet recently.
I'd like to thank you so much for watching my review of the global version of the Xiaomi Pad 6.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: ena global release of the xiaomi pad 6 is upon us and I've got it with its accessories unlike my other video of the pad 6 Pro I didn't have the keyboard in the stylus but no I have the smart pin this is the second generation of it and I'll type cover style keyboard which bit of a spoiler here is actually very good really do like it so if you're unaware of the specs of the xiaomi pad 6 well it's powered by the Snapdragon 870. yes it's a bit of an old chipset but it just shows you how good of a chipset it was when it came out because it's still holding up really well in 2023 my model here that they sent out to me has eight gigabytes of RAM and 128 gigabytes of storage there's another cheaper version with just six gigabytes of RAM and you can go all the way up to eight gigabytes of RAM and 256 gigabytes and that is ufs 3.1 the storage spec that they are using so it is fast it's got Wi-Fi AC Gorilla Glass 3 on the front of the screen I mean the battery capacity is 8840 milliamp hours and it does have 33 watt fast charging included with the xiaomi pad 6 we have our type A to type c cable a 33 watt charger now it will take about an hour and a half to fully charge the xiaomi pad 6 warranty card and a quick start guide screen is 11 inches and it's an IPS so the resolution is 2880 by 1800 16 by 10 aspect ratio so that does give us 309 PPI the bezels they are really Slim they're not the slimmest out there maybe but you know they're not bad at all they're very good so we've got an 8 megapixel camera here up the front and the screen's maximum brightness this is up to 550 nits but I measure about 470 with it now it does have the refresh rate that you can select you can actually change it to if you want 90 or 144 just to force it on that or you're just going to keep it on the default which will dynamically adjust it so great to see the 90 Hertz option or 60 if you really need to save on battery life overall it's not a bad screen it's exactly the same one that's in the pro model and I do find it to be good IPS but I would have personally preferred that they went with OLED the reasons behind that are of course with lid or an AMOLED screen you get the deeper blacks and it's uniformed color you see that on the edges a little bit hard to pick up see how it kind of just goes a little bit dimmer so it's not a uniformed complete white and all the pixels look exactly the same around the edges there is that slight Darkness to it which kind of lets the screen down a little bit but the IPS panel quality overall I think is excellent touch response is really great too with it the tablet is thin and reasonably light too so 490 grams that thickness is just 6.5 millimeters and it's got the same kind of look to it as uh the pro model 2 which I also covered so it's this gray version that I do have it picks up fingerprints and smudges but the build quality is excellent our camera has a microphone in the rear of it this is 13 megapixels there's no camera right here so it's just this part and they've made it look a little similar to the 13 Pro Series or 13 or 13 Pro and the ultra the camera module following that similar design Trend Pogo Port pin connectors here on the back for the keyboard which I will show you just after this the tablet and when you do look at it like this you can see that thin as there's a 6.5 millimeters as mentioned so this area here is for the stylus where it will wirelessly charge now it's a magnet that holds it into place and it's quite snug see it locks onto there that won't easily be knocked off unless you're going to knock it like that and it turns a little bit and that's probably the only time that that will happen so if I'm going to be traveling around with it I would probably stow it away somewhere separately but it is quite strong in that magnet so this is our volume up and down we have some microphones along the top power button so this is not a fingerprint sensor no it's just a standard power button made out of metal four speakers and totals are two each side and they are Dolby Atmos speakers so we have both Dolby vision and Dolby Atmos like it's more powerful pro version the type C Port is USB 3.1 and it does support video out which is great so yes it will clone the display there's no desktop mode clone display is still good in my box at least we're finally getting that and we have another microphone here and here is our optional keyboard you can get for it now it's a type cover style it protects the back of the tablet protects the camera lens here too it's using a synthetic material so it's a imitation like leather that we do see on a lot of these kind of keyboards and it's a high quality item too very good the quality of it now it will prop the tablet up at just a one fixed angle which for me I do find to be a little more upright than I would have personally liked it's all right and I can see their reasoning behind this because if they'd had it at about here which would be a little bit more ideal would lose the number keys at the top so that's why they've decided they've made that decision that okay we'll push it back a little bit the angle so when you're sitting at a desk it's fine and if you're using it on your lap that's when it's a little too upright now the magnets are strong enough that it shouldn't fall off and very good quality this keyboard so there's a compromise here with the arrow keys they're half size caps lock has a little status LED it's not a backlit keyboard it's Hardware so it's not using Bluetooth so there's no issues with latency it just works straight away and typing on I've done a few little test types very nice actually it's not what you would think for the size of an 11 inch tablet it's not as cramped as I thought it might have been and I really do like it I think it's a quality keyboard very nice feel to the Keys and all good I that's why I say I recommend this if you're going to be typing a lot and of course when you do close it up then you've got a very nice tidy little package there with the screen being protected now it does have a whole sensor so it knows when the screen is open and when you just pull that up it unlocks straight away now we do also have face unlocking with the front facing 8 megapixel camera if you don't need a physical keyboard you're not going to be someone that's typing a lot on your keyboard but you want protection then I highly recommend to this which is their official case because it fits it perfectly it's using magnets to keep it on and that is just like what we saw with the type cover the same kind of setup but the cover for it is a three stage design here so why they've done that is because this you can fold it around like so and then flip it behind it and then it acts as a stand and again using magnets that is going to prop up the tablet at a reasonably good angle there for using for say watching movies if you're going to prop it up on maybe the tray table in an airline or on a train it's ideal for this so good that it's a stand and a case to protect your precious xiaomi pad 6. now we do have Amigo i14 but it's MIUI pad 14 you see so it's developed specifically for tablets so it's not using just the mobile version and they've just decided to put that over no it's for the tablets and that's great so we do get some features you'll see for tablets you can go along parallel Windows there connected devices floating windows is the big one for the multitasking and I'll just demonstrate that quickly so if you go into your recent apps you've got an app that's already open so imagine I want the GPS Test here I just tap and hold I want that split screen or I've got floating window that you can resize so there it is and it's running now really like a mobile phone screen here so I can move this about I can launch different apps and you've got it there so you can easily go along and just maximize that minimize it there it's telling me the instructions of how to do that I went all over this and you can see I can resize it too and make it full screen if you want to I went over that with the the pro version you probably haven't seen that video because this of course is now the global model so GPS is it on board it's not sadly we don't get it okay that's not there there's no sim support either there's no 3.5 millimeter headphone jack those are the nose and the big one for me is a 3.5 millimeter headphone jack being missing which is a bit of an issue so like they're on performance is good 144 Hertz and I have tested it out using developer tools with the widget it's normally running about 144 frames per second too so that's great the performance is excellent and I do have here enabled the App Store you don't need to use that you've got your widgets too as well and the bloatware lack of it has been one of the best things about this Global ROM compared to the Chinese version I reviewed this has surprised me so when you first power it up there basically is no bloatware Netflix some may say is bloatware because maybe you don't have an account maybe you don't use it but really it's just all of the Google apps are there and what happened to all that pre-installed games applications Spotify Tick Tock Facebook they used to have or do have with their phone still but not with the tab here and this is great so they're off to a good start now free available space remember there's no micro SD card support with my 128 gigabyte model here I'm looking approximately 106 gigabytes of free space on first boot now if you install a super large game like gen chin impact and then another couple of large games well you're out of storage so that could be an issue for some people make sure you get the right capacity of storage that's going to suit you now this is another shock here I expected to run their system app here cleaner and have it come up with an inbuilt advertising it's being part of the phones with the redmi series and other xiaomi phones more the low end stuff or some of the pocos too as well the bloat and the advertising pretty much non-existent now well there's no ads here with the xiaomi pad 6. so that's great news they're doing a lot of things right and avoid Vine Security One cert the xiaomi 6 Pro had has this but Netflix didn't work in full HD I can confirm it does here it's full HD it's working correctly internal storage 128 gigabytes and it's ufs 3.1 very good speeds it's not as fast as what we're getting with the ufs4 but this is still great this is not going to hold up or bottleneck this tablet at all the speed of this chipset so the Snapdragon 870 the 870 is a very good chip it runs cool it doesn't tend to throttle that much and the performance still in 2023 is excellent now this is based off the Snapdragon in 865 and that chipset's been around for a while but still holding strong working really well even now so that's what I was talking about before this is taken from within Netflix so Netflix is recognizing this as a screen can support HDR 10 and it does support the ep9 codec and we have full HD so that is all good now throttling test I have done the same test with the pro model the pro model barely throttled I think it was about four percent or five percent that was it it got a little warm on the underside of it and here we're seeing throttling of just over 16 that's it so that's very good not quite as good the performance but still fine for all of the gaming as you'll see later on it gets a little warm on the other side of it and you'll see here from the temperatures so it went up seven degrees in the 20 minutes of this very demanding test so that's great okay so sound with this tablet now very good because we have those Dolby Atmos speakers so two here two there and even if you are gaming and you're gonna be like this and you block the speakers well it's not too much of an issue because you still have the other ones at the top so it's fine they're really quite loud they're powerful they have a bit of bass to them overall I like them now there's no 3.5 millimeter headphone jack and I think for a tablet especially looking at the gaming kind of power that this tablet does have it really should have the 3.5 millimeter headphone jack but you can use an adapter one of these or one of these there's various different sorts out there you can buy and they're reasonably cheap that solves the problem you can use a 3.5 millimeter headphones earphones whatever but it still should be in this tablet I feel call me old-fashioned but yeah so I'll give you a sample now one of my own videos of what it sounds like those four speakers just to point out that YouTube yes you can get the playback at 1080p not a problem so included with the open fit you'll find a warranty card which does have the serial number on the back and it's quality control pass a type A to type c cable for charging them overall great speakers I don't think anyone's going to be really complaining about these now not everyone is going to be buying a tablet for Just media consumption and gaming no well you can use it for things a little bit more practical like ebooks PDF files this ebook here that I've uploaded into Google Play books this is the app that's used to present this this PDF files very large and the performance is really good now it's I've mentioned this so many times it still won't beat an iPad but it's pretty decent you can see there's a little bit of catch up there but really good overall looks great too and you got all your different options too with Google Play books that you can invent the Carla's blue screen filter all of that stuff is there is present same story with ebooks that they do look excellent on the screen you can invert the colors with this app if you wanted to and of course you can use it in portrait and because the tablet isn't that heavy it doesn't make too bad of an ebook reader but if you're going to be reading a lot of ebooks I still recommend to go for an e-ink screen which is much better for your eyes you won't have issues with Reflections which you can with this glass covered panel now for gaming it holds up really well the Snapdragon 870 I don't really see any major lags at all gen chain impact you can run it on the top settings and it will run fine initially you may get just when it first loads in the levels and some of the enemies a few little frame depths that you'll see but it's pretty steady runs well and all of the games in the App still will be playable there's no point me showing you 20 games because they're all going to run well still on that snapdragon 870. oh camera so the front-facing 8 megapixel camera can shoot either HD or full HD which I'm currently recording in audio does sound good and the quality overall for 1080p it's not looking bad especially compared to the some some of the other tablets I've been covering recently which have terrible video quality so these cameras I do find to be quite good on the xiaomi pad 6. let's take a look at the rear camera now this camera is 13 megapixels it can shoot 4K and again the quality for a tablet is not bad at all I have noticed that sometimes the focus can pulse in and out we do have electronic image stabilization so you can shoot usable footage here with the xiaomi pad six and the smart pin this is the second generation so 496 pressure sensitive levels with the smart pin it does have two buttons on it it's an expensive accessory I think it's 99 Euros I think this should be a little bit cheaper than that now it's wirelessly charging up here now the battery life is excellent this is 150 hours that it can do so that's not bad at all so they've got some shortcuts with the buttons here so if I just press this top button and then touch the screen it will then launch this which I can write in now I found that the the nib of it is replaceable too by the way I found the accuracy is quite good so where I start to write is pretty much exactly where you will see that line now it will go right up to the edge as you see here right up now some other statuses wouldn't let you do that they would stop you about here then suddenly there'll be a straight line and just drawing very quick a line across the screen you see that works fine Palm rejection takes place um about here you see now when I touch the screen nothing's happening if I move this stylus up a little bit then I'm starting to write that on the screen which is normal what isn't there is a little floating icon on the screen to show you their exact stylus position before you start to write which is a little unusual now just do a very quick writing test here this is just to show you a very brief test here hello World okay yeah I'm not exactly writing um straight there am I it's it's fine it's quite good the latency is very quick I don't really see any noticeable huge amounts of of lag here too and it supports third-party application so bamboo all those other ones you use sketch Sketchbook or whatever they are going to work so just do the last little test pressure sensitivity so pressing very lightly and then slowly start to press heavy and heavier harder and harder should I say and you'll see that is getting thicker so all up I do think this is a good status it's certainly a lot better than some of the styluses I've reviewed on the more unknown tablets that I do often cover in the channel so what can you expect in terms of battery life then well it all depends on what refresh rate you're going to run of course if you set it to 60 you'll probably get around 10 hours if you use the dynamic refresh rate which is what I would recommend I do recommend that then you're looking around about 9 to 10 hours it all depends of course on what you're doing if you're gaming then it will be about four to five hours and if you decide to just keep it all the time at 144 Hertz you really love that smooth refresh rate and running the UI add 144 frames per second then of course that will take a toll on the battery but it does for an 11 inch tablet have a very good battery life so this has become I think my now recommended tablet for those of you out there that want a balanced tablet that doesn't thermal throttle too much it does a little are they performance in general is very good still even though this is a dated chipset it just shows you how good that Snapdragon 870 really was when it came out it's one of my favorites it still is one of my favorites and even though it's getting a bit long on the tooth it's getting a little old still very good in this and it just shows it shows that it's a good chip there and you don't really need to have a Snapdragon 8 gen 1 or or the Gen 2 in a tablet like this to still get basically gameplay and play everything at 60 frames per second well tension impacts a little different there it's around about 50 49 frames per second on the top settings that is with the model the stylus the smart pin second generation 4096 pressure levels to it good accuracy very good uh response time the lag on it it's it seems very good even in third-party applications so good stylus keyboard is very good too the build quality the thickness of it and we've got the video out from the USB 3.1 yay finally and I am shocked and surprised that there is out of the box basically no bloatware and no advertising in the ROM wow that is a welcome change there good on your xiaomi for taking that step to just tone it down in fact get rid of it or I hope this stays crossing my thing fingers you keep it up like this and overall what is the downside then to this model well it's pretty obvious there's no 3.5 millimeter headphone jack that I raved on about at the video here well I mentioned it a few times and there's my micro SD card support either so be very careful with what capacity you do get the basic entry-level model has six gigabytes of RAM which still should be fine for most people the next level up which is this one has the eight gigabytes of RAM and 128 gigabytes of storage then it goes up to 256 gigabytes so some of the games are getting so huge like gen chain impact what is that now 25 gigabytes so you probably might want to lean towards getting the 256 gigabit model which means gigabyte model means you have to Fork out a little bit more cash speaking of the pricing at the time of me recording this video I don't fully know all the pricing so and it changes too so check the link in the description of this video and thank you so much for watching my review here of the global version of the xiaomi pad 6.\n"
