As I sit here in my comfortable chair, curled up in a blanket, I am trying to muster up the energy to do everything I still have on my to-do list. I had promised myself that I would spend this evening editing two unboxings and planning out my schedule for tomorrow, but instead, I find myself getting sucked into the world of reading. It's about 11:00 p.m., and I am feeling relaxed and tired after a long day of avoiding all of my responsibilities.
I've been trying to cope with the fact that I have a bunch of stuff to do by not doing any of it. This plan is not working out too well, as evidenced by this montage showing me sitting here and reading "The Quarter of Wings, Grew," and "After Alice" by Gregory Maguire. It's clear that I've been spending most of my evening getting lost in these books, rather than tackling my tasks.
I have to admit that I wasn't exactly sure what to expect from these audiobooks. The popular opinion seems to be that they're not very good because they're a bit pretentious, but as a nerd, I find them appealing. So far, I'm really enjoying "After Alice." It's got all the makings of a great story - quirky characters, witty dialogue, and a dash of fantasy. I'm currently on page 259 out of 500 pages, so I've still got a ways to go before I finish.
As I close out this week's reading vlog, I have to admit that it wasn't exactly the most productive weekend. I did manage to finish two audiobooks, though - "The Land of Stories" by Chris Colfer and "After Alice" by Gregory Maguire. Both of these books were enjoyable in their own ways, but they also had some issues that bothered me.
I gave "The Land of Stories" 4 out of 5 stars. It was a really good book with some fantastic characters, but it had some pacing issues and plot holes that threw me off. On the other hand, I gave "After Alice" 4 out of 5 stars as well. This one had its own set of problems - like how often Gregory Maguire seemed to be pulling the wool over my eyes with his clever writing style! It was a bit frustrating at times, but overall, it was still a great read.
I'll save all of these details and more for my monthly wrap-up post, where I'll be discussing each of the books I've read so far this month. But for now, I think I'm just going to call it a night and head off to bed.
As I look forward to tomorrow, which is early - I have to start work at 8:00 p.m. - I think I'll try to squeeze in some reading before I go to bed. It's been too long since I've had any downtime, so this sounds like a great way to unwind and relax.
It's now Monday morning, and I haven't exactly been on top of my game lately. As I look back on the past week, it's clear that I've been putting off all of my responsibilities in favor of reading. It's not the healthiest habit, but it's one that brings me a lot of joy.
As I sit here at my desk, surrounded by piles of books and papers, I feel a sense of relief wash over me. I think I'm finally starting to get back on track - even if it is a bit belatedly. And who knows? Maybe tomorrow will be the start of something new and exciting for me.
Hello again, what's up everyone! It's almost 7 p.m., and I haven't vlogged today yet - partly because I was working this morning, but mostly because I didn't get around to updating like I usually do. I'm in my normal filming setup, which is still a bit disorienting after all these changes.
I've made it through the audiobook for "After Alice" by Gregory Maguire, and I have to say that I really liked it. The popular opinion seems to be that this isn't as good of a book as some other works in the Land of Faerie series, but I think that's where my nerdiness comes in - I find all sorts of interesting things about "After Alice" that make me enjoy it even more.
As for how long this vlog is going to be, I'm not entirely sure. It's been a while since I've posted an update, and I guess I just didn't want to deal with all the work that goes into creating these posts right now. But let me tell you - once again, there were so many great books out this month! Maybe next time, my post will be even more fun than usual.
I have to finish up a video review for "After Alice" by Gregory Maguire today before I go to bed, though, which means that it's almost 11:00 p.m. again already - time flies when you're having this much fun!
It's been weeks since I've last posted an update about what I'm reading, and yet here I am, back at it again with another vlog post about my favorite books of the month.
This week was full of great reads for me - two fantastic audiobooks that really captured my imagination. But now, as I sit down to write this post, I feel a sense of relief wash over me. It's finally time to stop reading and talk about all the good stuff!
