The Fall of TitanFall Nope!

The Call of Duty Community's Obsession with Call of Duty

No matter how great Titanfall was, the call of duty community is still going to play and watch Call of Duty because that's kind of what they do as a community for Call of Duty. I just don't know, I don't understand why the judgment among basically the first person shooter community has kind of defaulted to the Call of Duty community and that's really depressing and really disappointing. However, the big issue is when that suddenly determines you know, the presence of a game on YouTube within that circle within that community somehow determines its success.

A game's success should not well should not ever be defined by its YouTuber Twitch presence. Especially within the community for a different franchise. Why would any game ever why would any game's success be defined by its presence and view count on channels and streams of Call of Duty streamers? You're again, the entire point of that community what the viewers go to watch for what the subscribers subscribe for what the stream follows follower for and what the streamers and Youtubers want to make videos of is Call of Duty not Titanfall not any other game. Sure they may post videos of other games and sure they may watch videos of other games including Titanfall however, the main game is Call of Duty so naturally being a Call of Duty community they're going to resort back to watching and playing Call of Duty.

I don't understand why that's such a hard concept to craft just because I don't know but you know and it just is beyond me why that somehow is expected to determine this game's success. That has nothing to do with the game's success, and sure a generalized okay, this game isn't doing as well anymore on Twitch or YouTube may be reflective of its success to some degree, it's by no means the determining factor. And it just drives me crazy to hear that and see videos on that. It's like oh why did Titanfall fail what's wrong with it? It didn't fail nothing's wrong with it just because it went out of its honeymoon phases.

A game is successful if it sold a lot of copies, which I'm sure Titanfall did. It made a lot of money, I'm sure Titanfall did, and it was a good game. People are playing it as far as I can know that's a perfectly good game. It's exactly what we asked for, we wanted a simple easy to understand easy to balance easy to play first-person shooter that still had you know a skill curve to it. We got it, we got a great game, woo! People are still playing it, it's not like okay, it's been a month or so and the player base has completely dropped out. It's not like you can't get a match if anything. It's especially with the new matchmaking system.

With just how popular the game is in general, it's actually really, really easy to get in a match there's no problem with it. There's no I don't know, the game is doing great as far as I can tell other than getting YouTube and streaming views. And you want to know probably well in my opinion, a big reason that it's not doing so well on YouTube specifically, and this may even affect Twitch, is because the videos of it look like the YouTube's compression cannot handle the number of like pixels and textures and particles on screen in Titanfall.

And every video I have ever seen of Titanfall looks like absolute, it's all muddy, it's pixelated, it's compressed funny. And that's coming even from my videos which I do everything I can to make sure it looks as best as possible. And yet it looks like crap because YouTube's compression sucks. So if I can't make good-looking videos if that's gonna automatically discourage me from making videos on a game. That has nothing to do with the game, that's not on the game, that's on YouTube compression.

But there are so many of those little factors that go into it, on top of the fact that the community you're focusing on is a community specifically heavily focused around a different game. You can't just say oh since these guys didn't stick with it even though this is their main game that they're never going to stop playing. The game wasn't successful. Let me know what you think about Titanfall in the comment section below. I certainly love it and think it was a great game, and so far still appears to be successful in my eyes. We'll see how long it lasts but it's not like it died yet.
