Is Taco Bell's GIANT Cheez-It Tostada Good

A Taste Test at Taco Bell: The Giant Cheez-It Tostada, Crunchwrap Tostada, and Mexican Pizza

As I walked into Taco Bell, I was greeted by the sight of a giant Cheez-It on top of a tostada shell. I had to try it. A little bit more homogenous than I expected, with a slightly different texture than a regular Cheez-It, but still unmistakably cheesy and crunchy. The wetness from the Big Cheez-It made the tostada soggy, which took away from my overall experience of eating a crunchy snack. However, the flavor combination was more enjoyable than I anticipated, and the addition of some heat added depth to the dish.

The crunchiness of the big cheese it tostada wasn't very pronounced, but that wasn't necessarily a bad thing. The flavor of the giant Cheez-It still shone through, and I could taste the crunch and cheesiness in each bite. It was definitely oily, feeling oilier than a regular Cheez-It, which made me wonder if it was just a matter of scaling up the cracker into something bigger. Not bad, but not an improvement on the regular crunchwrap either. It's more like a novelty, a fun twist on a classic snack.

Next, I decided to try the Crunchwrap Tostada. I had heard mixed reviews about this dish, with some people raving about its unique flavor combination and others panning it as a mess. As I took my first bite, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. The crunchy flour tortilla added a nice textural element to the dish, and the flavor of the crunchwrap - with all its various toppings - came through loud and clear. However, the lack of crunch in the tortilla itself made me wonder if I had been duped into thinking it was a more substantial snack than it actually was.

After my crunchy snacks, I turned my attention to the Mexican Pizza. This was one of Taco Bell's new menu items, and I had heard that it was a game-changer for vegetarians. As I took my first bite, I was greeted by the sight of two fried flour tortilla shells, topped with ground meat, sauce, melted shredded cheese, and tomatoes. The dish looked like a cross between a pizza and a tostada, and I couldn't help but wonder if it would live up to its name.

The Mexican Pizza was definitely salty for my taste, but the addition of the ground meat made up for it. The tortillas were flour, which I liked better than corn, and the middle of the dish was a bit soggy, just like many pizzas tend to be. However, the edge of the dish remained crunchy, thanks to the lack of toppings on the crust. I appreciated the layered texture of the dish, and the combination of soggy and crunchy elements added a nice depth to each bite. The addition of beans made it easy to make this dish vegetarian, and I could see myself ordering this instead of the regular 7-Layer Burrito in college.

Overall, my taste test at Taco Bell was a mixed bag. While some dishes - like the Crunchwrap Tostada - won me over with their unique flavor combinations, others - like the Giant Cheez-It Tostada - fell short due to issues with texture and crunchiness. However, there was one dish that stood out from the rest: the Mexican Pizza. With its crunchy flour tortilla, soggy middle, and flavorful topping combination, it was a clear winner in my book. I would definitely consider ordering this again, especially if I wanted something more substantial than the regular Crunchwrap.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: en(bright upbeat music)- Greetings, my beautiful lovelies. It's Emmy, how are you? It's great to see you andwelcome back to my car.Today, I'm gonna be tastingTaco Bell's new offeringsand they are the Big Cheez-It Tostadaand the Big Cheez-It Crunchwrap. And I'm also gonna taste a Mexican Pizza, because after I've never had one before, they brought it back to much fanfare. It was an old menu itemwhich was discontinuedand they brought it back.So I wanna see what allthe hoopla is about. So I got one of those as well.So Big Cheezit Tostadais a mashup of a tostada, which typically is on a crunchy corn base. And then you've got kind of ground meat,or you can have beans andthen you have tomatoes, cream cheese, lettuce and cheese. But instead of the corn base,we're gonna have a giant Cheez-It,which if you're notfamiliar with a Cheez-It,a Cheez-It is a very popularcheese square snack crackerthat many children andadults love here in the US.They're about the size of aquarter, about an inch square. But the Big Cheez-It is much bigger. And I'm very curious to seeif it tastes like the originaland if not, how it differs. And how big is the Cheez-It?I don't know. That's why we're here. And what is my possessed car doing?I did not tell you to do that.It thinks it's so smart.No.Here is the Big Cheez-It Tostadaand it says it's a TacoBell and Cheez-It mashup. And here we are.Looks pretty good.Looks like everything that you would findon top of a, just a regular tostada.I forgot to mention tomatoesas well, which I love.Tomatoes, cheese, meat. And I can't tell ifthere's sour cream or not, but, oh, the corner ofmy Cheez-It is broken. So let's give it a tasteto see if it tasteslike a regular Cheez-It.Alrighty, here we go.Itadakimasu.Oh, 100%.Mm, mine tastes a little greasier.Mm-hmm.(Cheez-It crunching)It's flakier than I remember.I have to admit,it's been a while sinceI've had a Cheez-It.But it tastes oilier than Iremember a Cheez-It tasting likeand not as cheesy for some reason. Now let's try it in combinationwith the tostada toppings. Here it is, I can't pick it up.It's weighty.Let's give it a taste, here we go.Itadakimasu.(tostada crunching)(napkin crinkling)I like the textures goingon, but it's very salty.I have not had Taco Bell in a minute, but that was a very meaty part of it.And it's very salty. But love all the textures going on,the crunch of the lettuce namely.Love that, iceberg lettuce. And the Cheez-It is actuallypretty crunchy, surprisingly.I wasn't sure if it was going,oh, there's sour cream too.I thought it wouldn't be as crunchy, but it is pretty crunchy, but more flaky than the regularkind of corn tostada shellthat you would normally have.I'm not sure if it's animprovement, to be honest.I really enjoy that brittle crunchand corn impact that you getwhen you bite into acrunchy taco or a tostada.Really, really love thatkind of blank corny canvasthat a tostada or a crunchy taco has.Really love that combination,I think it's perfect. This isn't bad.It still is crunchy. If it wasn't crunchy, I'd be disappointed.I'm disappointed in thefact that as this sits, the structural integrity is lost. And so it kind of breaks off into pieces.Maybe ask for a fork if weget one of these tostadas.3.96, kind of reasonablefor something like this.I do really like thefresh lettuce and tomato.Love that.In the end, is it animprovement on the tostada?I don't think so.But it is a pretty goodgimmick I have to say.So if we scrape off allthe meat off the tostada, this is the size of the Cheez-It.I would say four by four.So maybe 16 times largerthan a regular Cheez-It,I mean, significantly larger. They even have thelittle nicks on the sideto make it look like a Cheez-It.And the holes, so yeah, Cheez-It.I wanted to get a Mountain Dew Baja Blast, but they were out of it for some reason.I've never had one before. So got a Pepsi instead. They forgot to give me a straw though,so I'm gonna have to drink it like this.I'm glad I'm not driving whiletrying to drink this soda,'cause it would beimpossible not to spill. So I parked way out here. And of course someone has towalk their dog out here too.If you see a dog pooping in thebackground, don't mind that.Next, let's try the BigCheez-It Crunchwrap. This is a crunchwrap,it's a flour tortilla.Typically inside, you would have a crunchycorn tostada shell. But instead of that, we havea giant Cheez-It instead.Crunchwrap has the same fillings,I believe, as the tostada. So it has the meat, the lettuce, tomato and cheese.Oh, but the cheese is different. The cheese is like an oozier cheese. And indeed, can you seethat little corner there? That is my giant Cheez-It.Okay, we're gonna fold this all back.So it makes kind of a, is it a hexagon?A hexagon.Itadakimasu.Mm-hmm.I think I might like this better.Maybe it's the delivery mechanism. It's a little tidierso everything kind of just stays together. But it's more like a burrito.I know it's flat, buteverything's kind of oozy inside. The cheese is different.Instead of shredded cheese,I believe they use, like, nacho cheese. So it's kind of oozy and wet.A little bit more homogenous. And because that wetness,it makes the Big Cheez-It soggy. So I don't have any crunchof the Big Cheez-It at all,but I don't know if I mind that. This has got a littlebit of heat to it too.Just a little bit.I don't know if it's in the cheese sauceor, I didn't ask for any hot sauce.Maybe they put some hotsauce in the crunchwrap.I have no idea. But it's not verycrunchy, that's for sure. But I think I like theflavor combination of thismore than I like thetostada, which is surprising, because I'm definitely acrunchy tostada person. But in this case,mm-hmm, mm.In that bite, I got a littleedge of the giant Cheez-It.And I could actually taste the Cheez-It,and it's Cheez-It-like,crunchy and cheesy.Definitely oily, feels oilierthan a regular Cheez-It,but might not be.Maybe it's just a issueof just scaling up thecracker into something bigger. You just notice the oil more. Not bad, but is it an improvementon the regular crunchwrap?Wouldn't go that far.It is a novelty though, 100%.Alrighty, just to try a giant Cheez-It.You know what I mean?(Emmy slurping)Man, am I thirsty.I should have gotten a water.I really wanna try the Baja Blast, even though I'm not ahuge Mountain Dew fan.I mean what's so Baja Blasty about it?Anyways, lastly, we'vegot the Mexican Pizza, which I've never tried. And what do we have in here?Looks like two tostada shells. These are not corn. These look like flour tortillasto me that have been fried. And inside, we have ground meat.On top, we have a sauceand it looks like melted shredded cheeseand tomatoes.I believe you can getthis vegetarian as well.Instead of meat, youcan have beans instead. And it's called a pizza, because it's flat I think. And it's cut into wedgesand it has cheese on top.But besides that, that's about as closeas it gets to a pizza.Alrighty, my first taste ofTaco Bell's Mexican Pizza.Itadakimasu.Mm.(Mexican Pizza crunching)Again, pretty salty forme, but lots of meat. The tortillas are flour. It's not corn, which I kinda like. And the middle is bit soggy, just like a lot oftypical pizzas would be.And the edge is a little bit crunchy, because there's no toppings on the edge.So it remains a little bitcrunchy, kind of like a crust.Mm-hmm, I like the texturesgoing on and it's layered. And I have to say thecrunchy flour tortillaI think is a good choice asopposed to a corn tortilla, because it makes it feelmaybe more pizza-likeand less, like, nacho-likeor tostada-like,because you have the flour crust.I want lettuce 'cause I think I associateshredded iceberg lettucein my mind to Taco Bell. But I understand thisis the Mexican Pizza,so there should be no lettuceon this, but I like it.Oh, there's beans.Okay, there're beans and okay, now I'm getting a better look. There's beans and meat.So to make this vegetarian, they would just have to remove the meat.I think I would like totry it that way as well. When I was in college, the7-Layer Burrito was my go-to,little vegetarian option. And I think this would bekind of a similar equivalentin a kind of crunchy version.Texturally, I think this works. The combination of soggy, crunchy,I think there's a good balance of that.Crunch on the edgeand even though it's soggy in the middle,it still kind of holds its shape. While the Big Cheez-It Tostadais kinda having trouble eating it.This, I feel like it hassome structure to it,even though it's messy.I feel like this one works. And maybe that's becausethere's two layersof that flour tortilla. It's easier to kind of handle and eat.Mexican Pizza I wouldconsider getting again. The Big Cheez-It Tostada probably not.The Crunchwrap Tostada maybe, but is it better thanthe regular crunchwrap?I don't think so.So I'd probably opt forjust the regular crunchwrapif I wanted one, you know what I mean? They're so smart. You like salty and you like sweet, quenching, thirsty, \"I'mthirsty 'cause it's so salty.Oh, I'm gonna drink a beverage.Oh, it's full of sugar, but it's kind of nice. It's cold.\"Drink, eat, drink, eat.I believe these are goingon for a limited time only. They started it yesterday, today is Tuesday. So yeah, you can go findthem at your local Taco Bell.Alrighty, my lovelies, thanks so much for watching.I hope you enjoyed that one,I hope you learned something. Please share this video with your friends.Follow me on social media, like this video, subscribe. And I shall see you in the next one.Toodaloo, take care.
