The Thrill of Driving a Supercharged Sports Car

As I sat down to drive this incredible sports car, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. The tires were cold for the record, James was a very good driver, and I had heard that the throttle response of this vehicle's supercharger was truly impressive. And indeed it was - oh yeah! Like I'd go so far to say it's got a better pickup than the original engine had - absolutely instantaneous, ridiculous, right, brilliant! Yeah, it's super cool.

But before we began driving, James had one last thing to check on the dash. "Dave, look at me!" he said, as I struggled to see over the hood of the car. "Horrific!" I replied, my eyes wide with surprise. It was a sports car - but where was the center console? And what's with all these buttons and levers? This is not the driving position I'm used to.

As we began to drive, James explained that this particular car had some unique characteristics. "It's like running out of traction fast at 45 mph," he said. "The surface grip is massively different - from loads of grip and feel to just ice and then it comes back with traction again in a space that all of a sudden becomes quite intimidating." I was skeptical, but as we hit the track, I quickly realized that James wasn't exaggerating. The car was extremely sensitive to temperature changes in the air, and even small differences in surface grip could affect its performance dramatically.

But despite its quirks, this car is incredibly fun to drive. And when it comes to drifting - oh boy! As soon as we got moving, James was sliding the car all over the track, performing impossible turns and donuts with ease. I watched in awe as he expertly maneuvered the car through a series of tight corners and hairpins, his foot hovering lightly on the accelerator pedal.

As we took a break and stepped out of the car, I couldn't help but feel impressed by James' driving skills. "Dave, do you want to try some donuts?" he asked, grinning mischievously. I hesitated for a moment - but then nodded eagerly, eager to experience the thrill of drifting on two wheels.

Of course, as we soon discovered, it's not just about looking good - this car can also put up quite a show. As James expertly maneuvered the car through a series of tight turns and jumps, I couldn't help but feel a sense of exhilaration. It was like nothing I'd ever experienced before.

But despite its incredible performance capabilities, this car has one major flaw: it's completely impossible to get any work done around here. As James so aptly put it, "Sometimes these guys believe it or not get tired of it seriously." And indeed they do - there are always plenty of excuses and explanations for why we can't film anything at the moment.

As we took a break and stepped out of the car to grab some lunch, I turned to James and said, "I don't know how you get any work done here. This is the best place to have a simulation in the office!" He just laughed and replied, "It's what a space to have like in LA as well - it's a unicorn dude." And indeed it was.

As we finished up our day on the track, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the experience. It had been an incredible thrill ride from start to finish - and I knew that I would never forget this car or the joy of driving it. and then they ppf over the front of the Chrome so it wouldn't scratch so the very nose has four layers on it wow but that's not why we're here we're here to basically go over the 720 GTR that I was desperately desperately trying to get done for car week because it is the most DD car we have it is fully custom oneoff body kit a fully built motor al13 Wheels it's everything that is DDE and it was week as a promotional vehicle for PFS and a nose ACH and guess what motor ain't coming back in time in fact I have some bigger updates on the motor I'm just trying to get all the information for you guys so that's all I can kind of disclose at the moment I don't know if the motor has more damage than just a blown head gask yet we'll get to that with Alex later but here you guys go the first time I've ever shown a car kind of like halfway done and not a full reveal bam still completely torn apart these guys started working on it the goal is to actually have the car done like last week but when we knew it wasn't going to go to car week Jason's like bro I got to take the guys off it we got three warehouses full of cars and projects that have timelines and if your car is not going then it's going to get pushed to the side so it's literally been sitting here like this it is going to get yes the 720 GTR in OA Tech pink why because I literally made this color for this car would it look sick with the fena Livery of course it would have the reality is this is the staple car on the channel for this color it has to get this Livery now there's a bunch of details and this is why I'm cool with showing you this there's a bunch of details that have to go on this car to tie it all in yeah you might be like oh it's going to look kind of like the last car oh for sure it's the same Livery but it's a completely different kit so there are pieces of this kit that still need to be wrapped there will be carbon pieces that will be wrapped with pink and the gray and things to make it look appropriate too you know the F1 or even the P1 GTR as you see it now there's a lot that still needs to go on uh the boys just for now put the front end on the front so it looks like kind of like a bit of a car you can visualize it but yeah it's essentially if you ever wanted to do this to your car it's the inos obviously custom color I made and then you want to use a metallic darker gunmetal gray for this section of the car I'm pumped when I see the car cuz I know eventually it'll get done yeah it will it's just a bummer didn't work out for monter but yeah like bummer like bummer is an understatement sucks tear my heart out and just like it hurts it hurts sorry I could help you obviously they have to put on for the lack of a better term the scalloping the fangs yeah yeah the you call them the fangs yeah that's the part that's me a little tricky because this door is completely different than a normal 720 and the P1 and the F1 so we have to decide how we want to take those Fang down so just the final details but the final details make it all so it ties it all together it does they got the wing done most of the body done obviously the rear bumper which actually got forgotten at gintani even though the rear bumper is mainly carbon and it's exposed which we won't wrap there are these two little white end plates that sit right about here and those will need to go this color so dude it's just so so heartbreaking there's nothing in here there was a time last week when we first were discussing that the actual built motor wasn't going to make it I came this close to going and buying just a stock 720 motor and putting it in here so I could drive it to car week it did cross the old nogin you know the little brain that's in there about this big for like a millisecond was like by a 720 motor it's only 60 Grand take it out of Dave's salary only 60 Grand you just have to go full Flintstone on this thing right now put electric motor right just electric motor a little fat factory downforce to be yeah I do like honestly if I'm getting a seasoned assist it's more likely not from McLaren it's from Boeing yeah yeah it is it is an actual Wing isn't it that there's a tuning company in Germany called SSR they developed an AO kit for the Porsche GT4 RS okay as part of the Aro kit they maybe increased the rear wing on that car by I'm not exaggerating 10 15% part of that Improvement was a slightly deeper wing and I'm not joking it's like that much deeper and like a tiny little like gurnie flap so little flick it's like imagine like a micro duct tail flick it's like a little Ridge there right during the the development of that they came back from testing and they opened the boot and one of the engineers noticed that there was like severe dents in the rear chassis of the car and he was like who's been slamming the boot so hard guys you got to look after this thing like treat it with respect they were like they know what the hell you're talking about like we're all respectful here they go out and develop a second car came back same issue turns out the extra tiny augmentation in Wing depth and and flick created so much additional downforce that it was pressing into the chassis of the car and it dented the chassis of the car right so so in order to mitigate that they developed these carbon plates which sat under the pressure points of the boot to spread out the dis yeah but in comparison to what you're doing right this is why I'm like dude like this that's why it's welded and why it has 40,000 bolts that aren't super aesthetically pleasing but I believe highly necessary and potentially this could still crack right here and just fly off the car at some point so we're going to have to keep an eye on it yeah I genuinely feel awful because I went all the way over to the UK and James was going to offer me his sen up to drive there while Dave and I were visiting for the gumball Hill Climb I want to take my Senate to car week because I don't have my 720 GTR the mercy has a broken window regulator so the window won't go up or down that's a problem so he probably won't have that fixed in time for me to offer him that car so I had a car in mind for him and it was my manual straight piped Ferrari 599 with the GTO style Livery because I know James loves the engagement of driving a manual car and that car sounds I was going to say insane but I think the word obnoxious is better to suit that car with pops and bangs but it's a straight piped V12 Ferrari and it's the Enzo engine it sounds absurd which I know he would love but we have one major Hiccup and our Ferrari Tech Hector is about to explain it to James I'm actually curious I got to ask you a question the more seat time that you get with Dad in the Sena does it at all influence your decision to maybe ditch the Porsche and get a McLaren honestly I I can't really say because I've never actually driven a Porsche or being in a Porsche I don't think so I think part of my wanting yeah a very very engaging insane automobile in my fleet which is a gated manually swapped Ferrari 599 which as you know is a front- mounted Enzo engine yes exactly so race headers straight piped I'm not going to lie right now the condition of it is is not looking good wow look at this but it's also got a handbrake cuz it was designed to be a bit of a drift car for the block hydraulic handbrake we call it a block beater yeah it's a hydraulic handbrake oh three pedals sequential in a 599 yeah oh the the placement for rev matching is really nice as well so you got a you've got a hydraulic issue is the fans behind here for the radiator will not turn on and when they turn on they just immediately blow the fuses and he cannot figure out why for the life of him why it's blowing the fuses so that's the issue and now we've actually just ran out of time to even even if he fixed this today I would not be able to get the Bodywork fixed and the rewrapping and the wheels put on in time for you to take it but I promise you this car is very cool and you'll experience at some point at the one day I really want to experience it like the idea of a manual 599 is so cool at this point of DD ACH and guess what motor ain't coming back in time in fact I have some bigger updates on the motor I'm just trying to get all the information for you guys so that's all I can kind of disclose at the moment I don't know if the motor has more damage than just a blown head gask yet we'll get to that with Alex later but here you guys go the first time I've ever shown a car kind of like halfway done and not a full reveal bam still completely torn apart these guys started working on it the goal is to actually have the car done like last week but when we knew it wasn't going to go to car week Jason's like bro I got to take the guys off it we got three warehouses full of cars and projects that have timelines and if your car is not going then it's going to get pushed to the side so it's literally been sitting here like this it is going to get yes the 720 GTR in OA Tech pink why because I literally made this color for this car would it look sick with the fena Livery of course it would have the reality is this is the staple car on the channel for this color it has to get this Livery now there's a bunch of details and this is why I'm cool with showing you this there's a bunch of details that have to go on this car to tie it all in yeah you might be like oh it's going to look kind of like the last car oh for sure it's the same Livery but it's a completely different kit so there are pieces of this kit that still need to be wrapped there will be carbon pieces that will be wrapped with pink and the gray and things to make it look appropriate too you know the F1 or even the P1 GTR as you see it now there's a lot that still needs to go on uh the boys just for now put the front end on the front so it looks like kind of like a bit of a car you can visualize it but yeah it's essentially if you ever wanted to do this to your car it's the inos obviously custom color I made and then you want to use a metallic darker gunmetal gray for this section of the car I'm pumped when I see the car cuz I know eventually it'll get done yeah it will it's just a bummer didn't work out for monter but yeah like bummer like bummer is an understatement sucks tear my heart out and that's me a little tricky because this door is completely different than a normal 720 and the P1 and the F1 so we have to decide how we want to take those Fang down so just the final details but the final details make it all so it ties it all together it does they got the wing done most of the body done obviously the rear bumper which actually got forgotten at gintani even though the rear bumper is mainly carbon and it's exposed which we won't wrap there are these two little white end plates that sit right about here and those will need to go this color so dude it's just so so heartbreaking there's nothing in here there was a time last week when we first were discussing that the actual built motor wasn't going to make it I came this close to going and buying just a stock 720 motor and putting it in here so I could drive it to car week it did cross the old nogin you know the little brain that's in there about this big for like a millisecond was like by a 720 motor it's only 60 Grand take it out of Dave's salary only 60 Grand you just have to go full Flintstone on this thing right now put electric motor right just electric motor a little fat motor in there I'm out of here I'm out you have a bigger way bigger flick yeah and then Above This will be sitting this and just just just to show them put your hands on this wing on how wide it is yeah I mean it's it is full I'm not I can't even reach the span of it but like the WID too like the actual depth of it yeah do you think that'll change anything for the way that McLaren intended the factory downforce to be yeah I do like honestly if I'm getting a seasoned assist it's more likely not from McLaren it's from Boeing yeah yeah it is it is an actual Wing isn't it that there's a tuning company in Germany called SSR they developed an AO kit for the Porsche GT4 RS okay as part of the Aro kit they maybe increased the rear wing on that car by I'm not exaggerating 10 15% part of that Improvement was a slightly deeper wing and I'm not joking it's like that much deeper and like a tiny little like gurnie flap so little flick it's like imagine like a micro duct tail flick it's like a little Ridge there right during the the development of that they came back from testing and they opened the boot and one of the engineers noticed that there was like severe dents in the rear chassis of the car and he was like who's been slamming the boot so hard guys you got to look after this thing like treat it with respect they were like they know what the hell you're talking about like we're all respectful here they go out and develop a second car came back same issue turns out the extra tiny augmentation in Wing depth and and flick created so much additional downforce that it was pressing into the chassis of the car and it dented the chassis of the car right so so in order to mitigate that they developed these carbon plates which sat under the pressure points of the boot to spread out the dis yeah but in comparison to what you're doing right this is why I'm like dude like this that's why it's welded and why it has 40,000 bolts that aren't super aesthetically pleasing but I believe highly necessary and potentially this could still crack right here and just fly off the car at some point so we're going to have to keep an eye on it yeah I genuinely feel awful because I went all the way over to the UK and James was going to offer me his sen up to drive there while Dave and I were visiting for the gumball Hill Climb I want to take my Senate to car week because I don't have my 720 GTR the mercy has a broken window regulator so the window won't go up or down that's a problem so he probably won't have that fixed in time for me to offer him that car so I had a car in mind for him and it was my manual straight is is not looking good wow look at this but it's also got a handbrake cuz it was designed to be a bit of a drift car for the block hydraulic handbrake we call it a block beater yeah it's a hydraulic out of time to even even if he fixed this today I would not be able to get the Bodywork fixed and the rewrapping and the wheels put on in time for you to take it but I promise you this car is very
