The Performance of iOS 8.1.2: A Comparison with iOS 8.1.1 on Different iPhone Models
I wanted to test whether iOS 8.1.2 really improves performance on newer devices, so I decided to put it to the test on two iPhone models. The one on the left is still running on iOS 8.1.1, and the one on the right has been upgraded to iOS 8.1.2. Both devices are connected to the same network, allowing me to compare their performance accurately.
To start, I conducted a bootup test to see how quickly each device would start up. The results were surprising - iOS 8.1.1 started up slightly faster than its 8.1.2 counterpart, taking only a couple of seconds less to complete the boot process. Although the difference was noticeable, it was still relatively small.
Next, I ran a Geekbench test on both devices, which measures the performance of each iPhone's processor. The results were even more surprising - iOS 8.1.2 performed better than its predecessor, with a score of 709 compared to 648 for iOS 8.1.1. However, it's worth noting that this was immediately after restarting the device, and the difference may not be as pronounced in real-world usage.
I ran the Geekbench test again, but this time on fresh devices without any background applications running. The results were somewhat disappointing - iOS 8.1.2 did not perform significantly better than its predecessor, with a score of only slightly lower than 8.1.1. This suggests that while there may be some minor improvements in performance, they are not as significant as I had expected.
The Wi-Fi test was also conducted to see if the upgrade to iOS 8.1.2 would provide any noticeable benefits. I ran a separate test on each device, using the same network connection and running them separately to avoid interference. Unfortunately, the results were disappointing - the speeds were exactly the same on both devices, with no difference in terms of performance.
It's worth noting that iOS 8.1.2 did bring some bug fixes and stability improvements, including a fix for a ringtone bug. However, it appears that these updates may not have had as significant an impact on performance as I had hoped. Additionally, the jailbreak is still available on both devices, which may be of interest to those who are looking for more advanced customization options.
In conclusion, while iOS 8.1.2 did bring some minor improvements in terms of performance, they were not as significant as I had expected. The upgrade may be worth considering for those who are running older firmware, but it's unlikely to provide a noticeable difference in terms of speed or performance.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwhat's up guys everything Apple Pro here and in light of Apple's recent release of iOS 8.1.2 I wanted to go ahead and do a speed test comparing it to iOS 8.1.1 now on the surface Apple did mention that the only thing they changed was a ringtone bug however I've had several people tell me that iOS 8.1.2 performs better on their iPhone 5 5c and 5s models and I wanted to put that to the test does iOS 8.1.2 really improve performance on newer devices so here I have two iPhone models the one on the left is on iOS 8.1.1 it has not been updated yet and the one on the right is IOS 8.1.2 so both of these are on their respective firmwares 8.1.2 and 8.1.1 and I'm going to go ahead and do a few tests a bootup a geekbench and a Wi-Fi speed test so I'm actually going to show you a surprising result I got already and let's go ahead and run these tests and it looks like iOS 8.1.1 is slightly in the lead here and there it's going to be really close however it looks like 8.1.1 does start up a little bit faster so couple seconds but you know there is a difference there anyways let's go ahead and run a geekbench now I want to show you the very first result I got when running these after restarting them immediately so this is 709 and this one was 648 so this was immediately after restarting them I don't know why but 8.1.2 definitely performed better anyways let's go ahead and run a fresh geekbench again nothing running in the background and let's go ahead and do that now 8.1.2 was kind of an empty update there's so much wrong with iOS 8 at the moment I mean a lot of people are having Wi-Fi issues messaging issues and Safari bugs and apple decided to just release an update for a ringtone bug and not even Pat a jailbreak which of course was good but I mean it's kind of interesting how Apple works but let's hope that iOS 8.1.2 doeses fix a lot of those issues people were experiencing because 8.1.2 is kind of empty there's really nothing in the update to make people want to update especially when it comes to the newest jailbreak but anyways in a moment here we'll be finishing up and let's see if 8.1.2 does indeed perform better than iOS 8.1.1 and there it is so on this run looks like it's a little bit lower even than 8.1.1 but then again such a small difference is you know completely negligible you can't even tell the difference between them so looks like 8.1.2 really hasn't improved whatsoever in terms of speed but I just want to go ahead and test one more thing see if Apple did any work to the Wi-Fi now I am going to run these separately because I don't want them to interfere but they are connected to the same network and I'm going to go ahead and start with 8.1.1 and there's the results for the iPhone 5 on 8.1.1 let's go ahead and try it on 8.1.2 so I don't expect there to be much of a difference but Apple should be looking at the Wi-Fi bug already so many people have been experiencing it and it's been a while since they've actually done any improvements but yeah it looks like it's exactly the same actually so 8.1.2 a little bit of a let down there's really no no difference as you guys can see in these videos speeds are exactly the same I mean it's entirely the same firmware aside from one little bug fix and the jailbreak does still work on 8.1.2 and if you guys are wondering should I update absolutely I mean why not this is going to be the latest jailbreakable firmware for a while until iOS 8.2 comes out so make sure you're on the latest firmware so you're enjoying all the latest bug fixes and stability and all that on 8.1.2 and if you guys want to do that go ahead and click right here on that video and it'll take you to my iOS 8.1.2 to jailbreak video and I'll explain everything there but you guys should definitely upgrade if you're on an older firmware because like I said it's going to be one of the last jailbreakable firmwares for a while and you should be on the latest firmware anyways guys so that's it just a quick summary of 8.1.2 versus 8.1.1 to give you an idea of how it Stacks up compared to an older firmware and as you guys can see really not much has changed but anyways check out some more of my videos guys I have plenty of great stuff on my channel And subscribe there's many more things coming soon have a great day guys peacewhat's up guys everything Apple
