the minivan is still a favorite amongst those large families or lots of friends

hi I'm Amanda salad and I'm Gianni Lacroix Stowe and you're watching Auto traders new car review of the 2011 Honda Odyssey

this minivan from the Japanese automaker is completely American built for designed in and only available in North America

the odyssey also has a more dramatic look that hina hopes will appeal to some of those luxury crossover buyers

it's wider and an inch longer than the previous model which targets its main selling points spaciousness

honda claims that three adults can sit comfortably in the third row

now it looks like a few adults could be comfortable back here but let's be honest unless you're involved in a super carpool to work you're not going to be hauling around eight adults

this back seat is spacious but it's really all about kids yeah and it's still to keep them happy over long distances

there are tons of other bells and whistles available in here as well depending on the model version

you can get the standard luxury items like navigation Bluetooth a rear camera and USB connectivity

but there's also some unique and unexpected features like a flip-up trash bag ring and a cool box which is a mini-fridge that keeps your drinks and snacks cool

The Odyssey is powered by Honda's well-proven 248 horsepower 3.5 liter v6

there is no four-cylinder available but the v6 gets excellent fuel economy at 19 miles per gallon in the city and 28 on the highway

and if you opt for the new 6-speed manual transmission that's actually a better engine in the four-cylinder Toyota Sienna by the way

the six-speed automatic transmission is smooth as silk you can barely feel it shift I did

up the Odyssey lives up to its reputation as the best minivan when it comes to steering and handling this on the road today

it also has tons of safety features which is very important for a family car absolutely

and this car has things like stability and traction control loads of airbags anti-lock brakes and a specially designed body structure that reduces the effect of a frontal impact

so what's all this gonna cost you well the LX starts off at twenty-seven thousand eight hundred but that doesn't offer any of the features that we've shown you

a more feature filled version starts off in the mid 30s and can get up to about $45,000 and that's comparable to most of the midsize SUVs that have become the go-to family vehicle style lately

so if you're looking for a stylish family hauler with tons of space and tech features you may want to reconsider the minivan particularly the 2011 Honda Odyssey

I'm Amanda chalice and I'm Jonny Lacroix's oh thank you for watching this new car review of the 2011 Honda Odyssey
