Somnox Sleep Robot - Hands On at CES 2018

The world's first sleep robot wants to help you stop tossing and turning at night and give you the best night's sleep you've ever had. It's slightly creepy, but it might also be the savior of your night's sleep.

You struggle to fall asleep at night, toss and turn, never quite relaxing. This is the world's first sleep robot, and it wants all it can to stop that and give you the best night's sleep you've ever had. So, how does this sleep robot do that? Well, it's slightly creepy, but it might also be the savior of your night's sleep.

A few people have held this tonight, and it's not been described as another person; it's been described as a little kitten, which is way less creepy than the disembodied torso of a person. You might be able to see where the rise and fall of its body is so right now you can see it's just barely lifting up and then falling down again.

This breathing pattern is fully customizable, but it's not just that; that's designed to relax you. There's also a speaker inside so it plays soothing music or soothing tones to help you get to sleep. There's also a timer so this doesn't have to go on all night; it can just do its job and let you sleep like a baby.

All of this is customizable through the app, which is quite an early release, so we'd expect the design to change a little bit there are three basic settings down the bottom; the breathing, the timer, and the sound.

For example, you can take it right down to a 4-second breathe in and in a 12-second breathe out, strong deep smoker says this one's designed for REM sleep. Those sort of customizations are also inside the sound option; you can select a different audio track and upload it to the sleep robot, which will start playing that tune through the pillow once we go to sleep.

There are also a couple of lights inside here, which can come on at various times, and the sleep robot comes with its own pillow case to keep it clean. It is now five o'clock at CES, and I'm exhausted; I'm also in a completely different time zone so I've been sleeping really poorly.

It's gonna be a pretty solid test of the sleep robot tonight, so good night; see you in the morning and hear what the sleep robot did.

Good morning; I slept like a baby. I'm not sure whether I can say for sure that the sleep robot helped me sleep like a baby because I was utterly exhausted. What this didn't do was disturb me, and it is pretty solid and quite heavy.

For the first few minutes of getting into bed and hugging it, the breathing was incredibly subtle you hardly notice it but it's definitely there and it wasn't uncomfortable. I didn't feel weird; I didn't feel annoying, and I was asleep within minutes.

It felt like and I woke up this morning having slept all the way through. This has a timer so it doesn't go all night; I did wake up once and I wanted to switch it on to get some more breathing, and that's probably a very positive thing but there is no way to do that without fiddling around in the app.

I certainly wasn't doing that so the sleep robots made by some knocks didn't disturb my sleep. And while it was with me; I slept extremely well can't say for sure worth of hats absolutely down for this but it's a very positive thing you're going to have to pay a fair amount for the Sun box sleep robots; it's 500 euros on the IndieGoGo campaign that's about $600.

We will hopefully get a chance to investigate this a little bit further but for now I slept like a little baby with my sleep robot.
