iOS 15.6 Beta 2 Released - What's New

**Xcode 13.4 Unable to Prepare iOS 15.6 Beta Devices for Development**

The latest update to Xcode, version 13.4, is experiencing issues with preparing iOS 15.6 beta devices for development. According to various reports and developer feedback, the current version of Xcode cannot successfully prepare the device for development. However, a workaround has been identified, which involves using an earlier version of Xcode, specifically 13.3.1.

This issue is not unique to iOS 15.6 beta devices, as it was also reported in the initial release of iOS 15.6 beta 1, which had performance issues. Fortunately, Apple has addressed these concerns with the release of iOS 15.6 beta 2, which has improved performance according to Geekbench numbers and initial user impressions.

**Performance Improvements**

One of the notable improvements in iOS 15.6 beta 2 is a significant boost in performance compared to the previous beta version. According to Geekbench, the single-core score has increased from an unknown value (no doubt lower) to 1750, while the multicore score has jumped from 4815 to 4815 (the same score as before). This improvement is welcome news for developers who were experiencing lag issues or bugs with the previous beta version.

**Bugs and Issues**

While the performance issues have been largely resolved in iOS 15.6 beta 2, some users are still reporting bugs and issues with this release. These include problems with shortcut automations and podcasts that randomly freeze or pause while playing them. It's worth noting that these issues may be isolated to a specific set of devices or user configurations.

**Battery Life**

It's too early to tell whether battery life has improved in iOS 15.6 beta 2 compared to the previous version, as beta 1's battery life was not particularly noteworthy. However, Apple will likely provide more information on this topic once the final release of iOS 15.6 is available.

**What's Next for Apple**

The next major update from Apple will be iOS 16 beta 1, which is expected to be released on June 6th. The developer community is eagerly awaiting this release, and I'll be live streaming my first impressions and in-depth analysis of the new features and changes coming with iOS 16. For those who are not participating in the beta program, a public release of iOS 15.5.1 may be available before iOS 16's final release later in the year.

**iOS 16 Beta 1 and WWDC**

The release of iOS 16 beta 1 will mark a significant milestone for Apple's developers, as it will allow them to test and explore new features and improvements for the upcoming iOS 16 release. I'll be going live on June 6th to discuss my first impressions and analysis of iOS 16, so make sure to tune in and join the conversation.

**Conclusion**

In conclusion, while Xcode 13.4 has issues with preparing iOS 15.6 beta devices for development, these problems have been largely addressed in the latest update, iOS 15.6 beta 2. This release brings improved performance and resolves some of the bugs and issues that were present in the initial beta version. As we await the release of iOS 16 beta 1, I'll be continuing to provide updates and analysis on Apple's latest software releases.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwhat's up guys my name is brandon and just as expected apple has released the second beta of ios 15.6 to registered developers just two weeks after the disappointing initial beta now in addition to this ios release we also got the second beta of ipad os 15.6 tv os 15.6 homepod os 15.6 watch os 8.7 and mac os monterey 12.5 but of course in this video we're talking all about ios and ipad os and discussing what's new in the software along with what to expect in the coming weeks and of course next week is going to be the big week where we see ios 16. so we'll talk a little bit more about that later on as well but taking a look at the size of this update you can see here it came in at 523.5 megabytes on my iphone at 13 pro max that is coming from a beta 1. if you're coming from another version it could be larger if you were coming from like 15.5 so it's gonna check out the build number here let's go to our settings general about 15.6 we can see here the build number is 19g5037d so we do have a d at the end of the build number which indicates we have a couple more betas to go before we see the final release and then if we scroll down a little bit to the modem firmware this is pretty interesting because we remain on 1.60.00 and the reason that's interesting is not only because that's the same modem firmware as we had in beta 1 but it's one behind the version that we have in 15.5 so ios 15.5 modem firmware is 1.61.00 so there may be an issue with the modem firmware on ios 15.5 that could be the reason apple is still staying on 1.60.00 on both beta 1 and beta2 of 15.6 so pretty strange all right so now what's new here in ios 15.6 beta 2 and just like with beta 1 the only changes are on the back end in the code so i've not been able to find anything forward-facing like nothing we can actually see in the ui or in the settings or anything like that the only changes we see so far are inside of the code so thanks to steve moser here we can see a few changes we have one for the code name for the pride watch face it's called lily pad we have a mention of matter and the home application and also new web permissions for the shortcuts application so again nothing too special nothing too interesting but those are a few changes here in this second beta of 15.6 which is turning out to be a pretty boring update and we also saw some changes in the code in beta 1 and those were related to accessibility features and settings that lined up with the features that apple wrote about in a press release that came out a couple of days before that first beta of 15.6 so it looks like not all of those accessibility features that we talked about before are going to be exclusive to ios 16. looks like some of them will be on ios 15 as well starting with 15.6 now we did also just recently get the apple account card so that is now officially inside of the wallet application this was included with the code of 15.5 but it was not actually officially out until 15.6 beta 1 was out so has nothing to do with the actual software it's more of a server side push but if you're on 15.5 or later you will see the apple account card in the wallet also we have the digital driver's license for maryland that is right here as well so if you live in arizona or maryland you can add the digital driver's license or state id to your wallet application and use it in airports and select other areas but aside from that there's really not too much going on with ios 15.6 it seems like this is just strictly a bug fix update after getting a lot of features in 15.4 and a few others in 15.5 seems like apple is just really focusing on the bugs and more security enhancements and things like that with 15.6 now if we take a look at the release notes you can see here again pretty empty i mean there's only one known issue and it's related to xcode and it says xcode 13.4 is unable to prepare ios 15.6 beta devices for development and the workaround is just to use the previous version of xcode which is 13.3.1 now as far as the performance goes performance on beta 1 was pretty bad i mean i talked about this in my follow up review i even mentioned it in my first video on 15.6 beta 1. so the performance was very underwhelming with beta 1 but we could see here with beta 2 that performance has improved both on geekbench numbers and also just in my initial first impressions of the software so you can see here we got a 1750 on the single core and a 4815 on the multicore and geekbench you can see compared to beta 1 right there there is a jump in both the single core and the multi-core scores so that is good to see here so if you had any issues with beta 1 in terms of performance if you had lag issues or any type of bugs those could be resolved here with beta2 and speaking of bugs i haven't really seen too many of you guys mention bugs in 15.6 beta 1. so if you have any bugs in 15.6 let me know in a comment down below really the only ones i've been seeing are issues with shortcut automations and some people have also said that podcasts just randomly freeze and just randomly pause while playing them but i've not experienced either one of those but if you guys have or if you have any other bugs in 15.6 let me know in a comment down below now as far as the battery life goes it's too early to tell if battery life has improved any here and beta 2. beta 1's battery life was nothing special it was about the same as 15.5 maybe a little bit worse in terms of on-screen time but i will let you guys know if battery life has improved or gotten worse and my new apple weekly episode coming this weekend all right so now let's talk about what is next for apple so of course ios 15.6 beta 3 could come out either next week or the following week but let's be real you guys could care less about ios 15.6 beta 3. all eyes are on next week where we see ios 16 beta 1 right there on monday june 6th so i will be live streaming for that i will be talking about that going in depth with ios 16 here on the channel so make sure you guys do keep it locked to this channel make sure you have those notifications on because i'm going to be going ham on ios 16 videos starting next week now we could also see a 15.5.1 at some point again you guys probably don't care about this because ios 16 beta 1 is coming up but for those of you who are not going to be on the beta program in a 15.5.1 could be the next public release before ios 15.6 of course ios 16's final release is not going to be until later in the year and as far as the public beta for ios 16 that's not going to come out until early july so you need to be on the developer profile you need to have a developer account to be able to install ios 16 beta 1 on june 6th and keep in mind that you will need to have a new profile installed to see ios 16 beta 1. so if you have the ios 15 beta profile installed you will have to delete that and install the ios 16 developer profile to see all of those ios 16 betas and i'll talk more about that in the coming weeks when i talk more about ios 16. but that is ios 15.6 beta 2 a relatively boring update actually a really boring update but as you guys know i like to bring you a video every single time apple releases software regardless of how large or how small that update is so hope you guys enjoyed this video and if you find anything else new in 15.6 let me know down in the comment below also let me know in a comment down below if you will be attending the live stream here on the channel next week on june 6th i will be live streaming that wwdc event i'll probably go live a few days beforehand as well just to kind of talk about what to expect and things like that so stay tuned for that and also if you guys enjoyed this video i would appreciate if you give it a thumbs up also make sure to subscribe for more ius 15 and mainly ios 16 coverage coming in the near future but anyways guys thanks again for watching and i'll see you soon youwhat's up guys my name is brandon and just as expected apple has released the second beta of ios 15.6 to registered developers just two weeks after the disappointing
