The Totally Should've Book Tag: A Discussion of Frustrating Book Covers and Series Decisions

In this video, the author discusses their frustration with certain book covers and series decisions, leading to the creation of the "Totally Should've" book tag. The author begins by sharing their dislike for the points of view in a particular book, which made them feel like it was a filler book. They mention that they didn't remember much about the plot except for a scene where the character Bela calls herself Switzerland and pines over someone.

The author's dislike for this book is not unique, as many readers have expressed similar sentiments about the series. In fact, one of the books on the author's shelf that they think should have had a cover change is "The DaVinci Code" by Dan Brown. The author simply doesn't like the current cover and thinks it would look better in black and white with some code-related imagery.

Another book on the author's shelf that they think should have kept its original cover is "Delirium" by Lauren Oliver. The author loves the original cover of this book, which they find beautiful, especially when the dust jacket is removed. They also express disappointment at the new covers for the sequels in the series, which they don't like.

The author's dislike for these books and their covers seems to be a matter of personal preference, but it's clear that their opinions are not unique. In fact, many readers have expressed similar sentiments about the series and its covers. The author's frustration with the decision to release multiple books in the series without changing the cover is understandable, especially when it comes to maintaining consistency and aesthetic appeal.

Finally, the author mentions a book that they think should have ended at one book: "Twilight" by Stephenie Meyer. While they initially enjoyed the first book in the series, their opinion changed after reading "Breaking Dawn". They feel that the series is marred by tropes and plot developments that make them dislike it even more as they grew older. In fact, the author wishes that the series had just ended with the first book, making their experience of reading the series much more enjoyable.

The author invites viewers to share their own opinions on frustrating book covers and series decisions using the "Totally Should've" book tag. They express gratitude to Emma Books for creating this fun video, which allows readers to discuss their frustrations in a lighthearted way. "WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enten points to whoever can guess what book is written on this scarf hey guys it's Hannah and today I'm filming the totally should've book tag so this tag was created by Emma books and I will leave a link to her original video down in the description box so you guys can go check it out so basically the way that this tag works is that there are 11 questions and each of them are pertaining to things that books should have had or should have done and that's basically it and so I'm just gonna go through and answer all the questions question number one totally should have gotten a sequel so for this question I chose Aristotle and Dante discover the secrets of the universe by Benjamin Alire sáenz now don't get me wrong I percent love the way that this book ends and I don't think that it needs a sequel and personally I think that most stand-alones don't usually need a sequel I don't usually like it when there are sequels to books unless it's just a series but I've heard rumors that the author is thinking of doing a version of this book so the same book but told from Dante's perspective and oh my god I would honestly die for that I would love it so so much and I need it I desperately need it and if that is true and it's actually happening I'm just gonna drop dead on the spot and then just be resurrected and come back to life just to read it because I'm so excited I love this book so much and getting to read it from Dante's perspective would just be perfection question number two totally should have gotten a spinoff series now for this question I feel like a lot of people are going to choose the same thing and that's with good reason and that is the Harry Potter series just think of all of the opportunities that this series has to have wonderful spin-offs you could have a prequel or you could have a sequel or you could have a series about some other school in the Harry Potter universe like there are so many options and I want all of them there are just so many options with this you could go in so many different directions and I would honestly read any of them and all of them and it would be perfect and I'd love it and I want it so badly question number three an author who should totally write more books for this question I feel like it won't come as a surprise to most of you who have been watching my channel for a while and know me by now but that is Erin Morgenstern the author of the night circuit because this is her only book out right now aside from some other book which i think is like a photography book but it's not like an actual fiction story and I just need more from her I need all the books I need her to publish 100 books and I will read every single one of them because I love her writing I love her storytelling I love her characters everything is just perfect and I need more of it I desperately need more of it question number four a character who should have totally ended up with someone else so for this one I feel like it's gonna be kind of a controversial one because I know I have somewhat of an unpopular opinion with this and I'm not going to name names because this is a book in a series that's not yet complete but I'm just gonna hold it up and show it to you guys it's queen of Shadows and like I said not naming names because the series isn't over and they could end up with the person that I want them to end up with but it doesn't seem like that's happening as of right now and I don't like the person that they're with right now so we're just gonna leave it at that if you've read this book you know exactly who I'm talking about but yeah I just think that she should be with someone else just saying honestly I think she should be with no one so question number five totally should have ended differently now for this I chose the glass arrow by Kristen Simmons now I think if you guys watched my October wrap up I talked about this book and I talked a little bit about how I was very disappointed in it and that is very much because of the ending this book really didn't go in the direction that I was expecting it to go in and I was disappointed and it ended in a way that I personally wasn't happy with so yeah I think it totally should have ended differently question number six totally should have had a movie franchise no for this I'm gonna go with the Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare now I know these have I think possibly been optioned for TV um because they're making the Shadowhunters TV show so they might be in the future maybe making these into a TV show but I think that these would make great movies I just feel like these books have far more potential to make great movies than the a Mortal Instruments books too because we all know how that movie went but I definitely think these would make great movies plus they take place in like Victorian London and that's just my favorite time to read about and watch and I love it a lot so I think they'd make wonderful movies and I just think that like the magic system and the mythology kind of that is in this world would just translate really well to the screen and I'd love to watch these as movies question number seven totally should have had a TV show now for this I'm gonna go with the entirety of the saga comics because guys these would make the best TV show ever honestly this would be like Avatar The Last Airbender 2.0 these would just be so fantastic I think they translate perfectly to television you could take each individual issue and turn it into like a 20 minute episode guys like I already have all of this planned out can I just please direct and produce it I would just love it so much and it would just be so good so so good question number eight totally should have had only one point of view for this one I'm gonna go with eclipse by Stephenie Meyer I have always hated the fact that there were so many points of view in this book as much as I personally enjoyed reading from Jacobs point of view back when I first read these books because yes I very much loved Jacob no I was not Team Jacob I just liked Jacob better than all the other characters but yes I just very much didn't like all the points of view that were present in this book I felt like they were unnecessary and I felt like this book was just such a filler book and I don't really remember anything that happened except for Bela calling herself Switzerland and them standing around pining over her and I'm pretty sure that's all that happened so maybe I do remember what happened but yeah it always really bothered me and I don't like it to this day along with many other things that come along with this series but that's a whole other video question number nine totally should have had a cover change I honestly couldn't find a book on my shelf that I really really thought needed to cover change and I think that's because I usually buy the covers of books that I think are better than the alternate covers just because I like having the prettiest version or my favorite version of a book there is one book on my shelf that I personally don't like the cover and I think that the cover should change and that is The DaVinci Code by and brown I have never liked this cover I don't know why um I think it's just like the Mona Lisa eyes right here they just don't do it for me I'm not a fan of the color scheme and I feel like this book should just should just have a cover change i I want a different cover maybe something in like black and white with some like code stuff on it I don't know I'm not a graphic designer but I don't like this cover very much and yeah it's probably my least favorite cover of all the books that I own right now on my shelves question number 10 it totally should have kept the original cover for this I'm gonna go with one that I'm very bitter about even though I haven't even read the rest of the books in the series and I don't even own the rest of the books in the series and I even own the original cover but that is delirium by Lauren Oliver I love this original cover of delirium I think it is so pretty especially when you take the dust jacket off and usually I don't like faces on books but this is just really cool I love the cover of this book I think it's absolutely gorgeous and I do not like the new covers that they have at all I don't like the one for delirium I don't like the one from pandemonium and I don't like the one for Requiem I loved these original covers I wish they had kept the original covers and I'm just sad about it and honestly that's part of the reason why I don't want to buy the rest of the books in the series because they won't match this pretty original one and it's just gonna bother me when they sit on my shelf and I know that's really really petty but that's just the way that I am and finally question number eleven it totally should have stopped at one book so for this I'm going to go with a book that is in another series that I already mentioned and I feel like it might be kind of a controversial one I feel like this isn't an opinion a lot of people have about this series whether or not they like it um but that is Twilight by Stephenie Meyer honestly I feel like if this wasn't a series and Twilight was just a standalone I would like it so much better the first time I read this series I absolutely loved it until I got to Breaking Dawn and then Breaking Dawn made me dislike the entire series and then I ended up disliking it even more as I got older because they're just a lot of tropes in this book that I am NOT a fan of among many other things I just think that if this series wasn't a series and it just ended with Twilight then it would have been so much more tolerable for me because I think it's the tropes and everything that ends up unfolding in the other books that makes me dislike this one so much so yeah I sometimes wish that this had just stopped after Twilight so now I'm just gonna tag a few people I tagged - from my name is Martinez Vanessa from paper fairy Reagan from Cruz project Jen from Jen hugs books lainey from gingerreadslainey and Philippa from the garden of reading and also if I didn't mention you and the people that I tagged I still tagged you to do it I tagged everyone who hasn't done this video yet to do it because it's lots of fun and thanks to Emma books for making it because it's very entertaining so that is it guys that is it for the totally should've book tag so thank you guys so much for watching I hope you enjoyed this video and I will see you in my next video bye they both have very opposing ideologies when it comes to torture and war and justten points to whoever can guess what book is written on this scarf hey guys it's Hannah and
