A Glimpse into the Future: Apple's Latest Developments

Apple has been making waves in the tech world with its latest developments, and we're excited to share some of the news that's been making headlines. One of the most intriguing features that's caught our attention is a potential new feature that could give us a glimpse into what's coming next for Apple devices.

The idea behind this feature is that it might be possible to see information such as Wi-Fi speeds, what lights are turned on through HomeKit, or even what music is playing on Spotify or Apple Music through the glass of an Apple device. While this is still just a prototype image, we believe that Apple is working towards making this a reality. The potential benefits of being able to see more information without having to physically interact with it could be significant.

Another area where Apple is putting its best foot forward is in the world of gaming. With its new M-series chips, Apple is confident that it can power anything, including AAA games. This means that Macs equipped with these chips will now be capable of running demanding games without issue. For those who are casual gamers or use their devices for more relaxed activities like playing sports games, this might not be a major concern. However, for intense gamers and esports enthusiasts who require high refresh rates and fast response times, Apple's new M-series chips could be a game-changer.

We spoke to someone who already uses their iPad as a gaming console, using it with their PS4 or Xbox controller to play games like NBA 2K through Apple Arcade. While this person doesn't game extensively, they noted that the experience is "extremely well" and that Apple's efforts in this area could be a significant step forward for AAA gaming on Macs.

Windows users might want to take note of this development, as it could potentially put pressure on the Windows platform to improve its own gaming capabilities. With Apple pushing the boundaries of what's possible with its M-series chips, it's hard not to wonder if we'll see Apple develop its own line of gaming computers in the future.

Finally, Amazon Prime Video is making some changes that might affect subscribers. Starting January 29th, those who are subscribed to Amazon Prime will begin seeing ads on their Prime Video content. The good news is that this won't affect existing Prime Video subscribers, but new subscribers or those who are upgrading their plan will need to pay an additional $2.99 per month to avoid seeing ads.

For those of us who already use Amazon Prime and Prime Video regularly, the prospect of having to pay extra for ad-free content might be a bit of a drawback. The price of Amazon Prime is already around $150-170 per month in the US, so adding an extra $3 per year on top of that could push some people towards other streaming services.

In conclusion, 2023 has been a big year for Apple and the tech industry as a whole. With its new M-series chips, Apple is poised to take the gaming world by storm, while Amazon Prime Video's decision to add ads to its service might be a surprise for some subscribers. As we head into 2024, we can't wait to see what other developments Apple has in store for us.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwell all right everyone and welcome to another episode of 9o5 Mac weekly this should be the final episode or the final video of the channel for 2023 and we're looking onwards to 2024 but we still got some noteworthy or some newsworthy stuff that we got to talk about first off we got to talk about the Apple watch band because that's Saga does continue is it in store is it allowed is it illegal is it not we're going to talk about that in a little bit also we got some leaks of a new homepod coming out or some sort of new homepod prototype being out in the wild right now and we're also going to touch on what Apple's doing in the gaming world and some other little miscellaneous things that we want to wrap up but without further Ado let's talk about everything that's happened this past week related to Apple and everything in between let's get into it so to talk about the Apple watch band because last week the Apple watch Ultra 2 as well as the Apple Watch series 9 was officially banned from the Apple Store both physically in store and online if there were some third party retailers that still had them they were allowed to still sell them until they ran out of stock but as of recording today Apple has won the appeal process but basically what that means is that the Apple watch Ultra 2 as well as well as the Apple Watch series 9 is back in stores at least for now so for about a week Apple was unable to sell their Apple watch Ultra as well as their Apple Watch series 9 which is kind of unheard of we've never really seen a situation like this happen before but there are a couple other key dates that we should consider because Apple getting granted that appeal doesn't mean that they won the whole process they just have to make a bunch of changes in order to kind of stay in line with ITC and all the other governing bodies that's keeping the Apple watch Ultra either in or out of the Apple Store so the US Customs is scheduled by January 12th to decide whether or not the new chain es to the Apple Watch series 9 as well as the Apple watch Ultra 2 are enough to get away from the infringement on the patent that they did earlier on and what led to this whole debacle to begin with so that's one day to consider January 12th and then Additionally the ITC has until January 10th to respond to Apple's appeal as well to again make sure that they aren't infringing on this patent from before but for right now it's business as usual Apple watch Ultra is back in the stores repairability is back at 100% if you're within warranty you're going to get it fixed if you're outside of warranty you're able to get your Apple Watch series 7 fixed directly through Apple now so for now everything's seems to be okay and now next up we got to talk about homepod because we've been getting leaks and rumors now for years that the original homepod or the homepod form factor is going to be getting some sort of touch screen on the top of it because right now the homepod does have some sort of touch interface but it is an array of LEDs that isn't an actual screen it's not a display it's just a bunch of LEDs there to kind of shine some light and give you some Siri animations and things like that but we should be moving to an LCD display according to the Prototype images that we've seen so far so Apple prototype collector kasuami share the first images of the Prototype with an LCD display on top and the images have been corroborated and it's been heard by an independent source that this should be kind of a first iteration of what Apple's planning to release to the entire public hopefully in 2024 so what we know so far is that this homepod is actually the same exact size and form factor as the previous homepod the only difference is going to be is that it will have that LCD display and even though in the images it looks like a flat display there will be some sort of convex kind of glass shielding which will give it a little bit of a bump making it a little bit more circular as opposed to kind of flat so it's going to look maybe like a little bit of a hill and and you'll be able to maybe interact with it with a touchscreen interface and it will give you a little bit more information than just the LEDs that we got before with the homepod and we'll probably get some more app interfaces and some more kind of widgets and I'm kind of seeing complications maybe come into play here so Apple may be putting some watch OS 10 stuff on the actual homepod it's going to be nice to see to kind of give you some information out of glass maybe we'll be able to see stuff like Wi-Fi speeds or what lights are turned on through homekit or obviously what's playing on Spotify or apple music so everything Still Remains yet to be seen this is a prototype image but I do believe we're going to be getting a new homod next year another bit of news to consider is that Apple's putting their best foot forward when it comes to actual video games and AAA gaming on a Mac interface and on Mac software Apple's coming out and said that the new M series of chips are now powerful enough to play AAA games fantastically as they like to quote saying that it can pretty much power anything so any Mac that has an M series chip is now fully equipped and ready to go to be able to kind of be a leading gaming platform moving forward now I'm not somebody that games too much and if I do game it's usually on the the sports side so I'm playing Madden and NBA 2K and maybe some retro games and things like that so for me I already use my iPad kind of as a game console because I use it with my PS4 controller or my Xbox controller I'm able to play NBA 2K through Apple arcade so for casual gaming it's already doing that and doing it extremely well so for those people that are actually intense Gamers maybe into Esports people that need that 240 HZ display and refresh rate because they're playing first person shooting games and things like that I think this is where Apple's going to take a big step forward because they're going to be able to actually be able to run those games and run them extremely well on things like a MacBook Air a MacBook Pro and iMac and things like that so I do believe AAA gaming is going to take a big step forward on the Mac platform and windows better watch out because I don't know if Apple starts making gaming computers as well as the design machines at tools that they already are could be bad news for those windows people and then the last bit of news that I wanted to include in here because I actually received this email personally is that Amazon Prime video is going to be increasing its price or actually keeping the same price but adding ads for those people that are Amazon Prime subscribers so I'm personally an Amazon Prime subscriber I believe it's 150 a month or maybe maybe 170 a month here in the US and nothing's going to change from a day to day you can still watch all the content you want all the content will still be readily available but starting January 29th but starting January 29th those Amazon video subscribers those Amazon Prime subscribers will start getting ads if you are watching Prime video the only way to get around these new ads that are coming is to pay an additional $2.99 per month that you have to physically and manually subscribe to in order to remove Those ads so in the grand scheme of things depending on how you can sender Amazon Prime and depending on how you actually pay for it there's a lot of credit cards it'll pay for Amazon Prime already but if you're paying for it out of pocket then you're going to need to spend an additional $3 a month or $36 a year on top of your Prime membership to get zero ads on Prime video so that's going to start to creep you towards that $200 a year kind of price range for something like Amazon Prime now I do use Amazon Prime a lot I use Prime video a decent amount will I be paying for the ad supported or the non-ad supported Amazon Prime most likely not cuz I don't want to spend three3 more dollars with already all the different streaming services that I'm already using but that's the each round let me know in the comment down below will you be paying more for Amazon Prime to be able to get ad free content let me know in the comment down below now that was just about do for this video and all the news that we had this past week I know this is the end of 2023 so we just want to say a big thank you to everybody that supported us throughout this year and we got a lot more stuff coming in 2024 leave some comments down below what your favorite tech of 2023 was your favorite news moments of 202 three in the tech space always excited to kind of go through those comments and answer those and and interact with all of our viewers but as I said if you made it to the end leave a little dolphin in the comments down below so I know you made it to the end maybe leave a 2023 down there as well so I know that you're watching this video but if you guys want to watch more iPad OS iOS or Mac OS videos click on one of these right here definitely stay subscribe because we got more content coming and happy New Year everybody peacewell all right everyone and welcome to another episode of 9o5 Mac weekly this should be the final episode or the final video of the channel for
