The New Engine is Ready to Go Back into the Car
We finally have the new engine ready to go back into the car. We got the transmission on, repainted the outside of the block to match everything else, and it's all freshened up. We've also added starters, alternator, water pump, belt, and motor mounts. Everything is in place, and we're ready to get this thing lifted up and slide it into the car.
We're going to mount the engine back into the car and start putting everything back together. We'll get the intake and turbo manifold back on there, and continue where we left off when we found out that the engine was cracked. It's been a long journey, but we've finally got the new engine ready to go.
We're taking a break now, as the guys are just going to hang out, take a nap, and watch something. We'll fire up the engine for the first time with the new motor. We did put water in it first, then pull the drain plug, and there was no water coming out of the oil pan. That's a good sign. Now we're hooked up the fuel pump and ECU to our jump box inside the car, and fingers are crossed that she'll run smoothly.
We just installed the air filter, and it looks like we're getting close. The previous filter was almost completely gone, which is surprising. We've got the oil all aired out now, and there's no more air bubbles in the oil. We had to bleed the system with my hair pockets to get rid of any air leaks.
We're going to try again with the pressure sensor plugged up, so we should be good this time. The dipstick is looking a bit too loose, but we'll check on that later. There's still no milk in the oil, which is better than before. We need actors to take some pictures of the car, as it looks much better now.
The guys are expecting Pedro and his new grill soon, which has made a big difference. He even got himself a new set of teeth, which will make him look very clean and shiny. The car has also been painted white to match the new teeth. Everyone is excited about how it turned out, especially since we've got the engine back in the car.
The build is finally underway, with the next step being to figure out the wiring. There's still no battery, so we're running off jumper cables and a jump box for now. We need to get a signal wire to the starter and a real wire to the starter, as well as mount a battery soon. The axles are on their way, which will make everything more stable.
We also need to mount the shifter for the sequential transmission and add a clutch slave. There's still a lot of little things that need to be done on the car, but the engine is back in and running once again. We're excited about where this project is going and can't wait to get everything completed.
The next couple of days will likely be spent on other cars, including the Prelude, which might be taking it to the track tomorrow. We'll see how things go from here, but for now, we're just enjoying the fact that the engine is back in the car and running smoothly.
