common question so I'm going to do my best to answer it my way in the beginning it was Marvel producing Star Wars comics then it was Darkhorse and now it's Marvel again if you're slightly confused at this point get in line before anybody knew that Star Wars was going to explode as a pop culture phenomenon Marvel was the company to pick up the Star Wars comic book license this being the last issue they produced in the series number7 I happen to have the other 106 as well thanks in large part to a community member I am e eternally grateful and I still can't believe that Greg Holly sent me his Star Wars comic book collection yeah the whole thing because he knew that I'd appreciate it and I did and I'm taking care of them absolutely they've got a good home trust me they're staying here if I was to start collecting Star Wars comics on my own I probably would not begin with the original series if only because they're probably going to be a lot more expensive than the new series All Things Considered for the time I think Marvel did a pretty good job with Star Wars back in the day but I would imagine that fans would feel a bit dis franchised after they see the new series of Star Wars comics from Marvel no matter which Comics you start with I would strongly recommend protecting them every one of mine have been placed in front of an acidfree cardboard backing and are contained within a myar bag plus they're kept in a cool dry place which should keep degradation that'll happen over time anyway at a bare minimum if you're going to collect take care of your stuff apart from the 107 in the original Star Wars comic series there were a few special issues produced so the checklist may not be extensive it'll just be expensive to collect just take it as it comes chances are you're going to find yourself surfing a lot of auction sites more than anything and like it is with just about any collectible the older it is the better shape it's in the more expensive it's going to be or the more valuable it's going to be depending on which side of the equation you happen to sit on at the time if you can only find a lower grade comic that may not be in great condition to start your collection well it's better than having nothing so let's say you find an issue that's not in great condition at least you have something then at some point in the future if you find one in better condition you can upgrade then turn around and sell your lesser valuable copy to somebody else you can recoup your cost and improve your collection at the same time but be forewarned once you start collecting Star Wars comics forever will it dominate your destiny and your wallet again a huge thank you goes out to Greg Holly so what if you're not interested in the old Marvel stuff that's okay because darkh horse produced a ton of Amazing Star Wars comics at this point you may have to decide what are you interested in Ian I mean are you interested in the value of the comics or are you interested in the comics value itself outright as a story that you love in a universe or galaxy that you love since Darkhorse produced so many Star Wars comics I had to narrow it down to the characters that I loved most Darth Vader being one of them this happens to contain within it the pages of the individual Comics that comprised the entire story it was a hell of a lot more affordable for me to get this than it would have been for me to get the individual Comics so my recommendation if you wanted to collect any part of the dark po Star Wars comic series start with a book like that or like this an Omnibus this one happens to be a collected series of stories about Boba Fett if after reading any part of this I liked a certain part more than another part I could always go back and find those individual Comics sometimes you got to limit your collection if only because well um you got to limit your collection unless you're a completist at which point good luck with that I'm new which means there's never been a better time to start collecting Star Wars comics Star Wars is not going away anytime soon not to mention for you purists the new series of Star Wars comics is Canon sure you could probably wait another year to jump into The Fray but uh I don't think I'd do that if I were you not to mention they issued a series of variant covers for issue1 which is both a collector's dream come true and a nightmare at the same time again this is where I've learned the value of limiting my collections I think I mentioned this earlier but if you can start with a character that you love there's going to be a new series of Princess Leia comics and Darth Vader Comics sorry I got a little excited there the story is awesome the writing's awesome the art is awesome this is one hell of a reboot and unless you're watching this video 10 years after I recorded it never has there been a better time to start collecting Star Wars Comics up until this point it's just been the movies and TV shows apart from the Star Wars Christmas Special that have been considered Canon yes there are non-comic Star Wars books being done as well that are a part of Canon but they're not as exciting to me I like pictures I'd imagine that you do as well because if you didn't like comic books and you didn't like Star Wars you should probably not be collecting Star Wars comic books do it because you love it not because it's worth more or worth less it's still worth something to you I am open to even more tips and suggestions that you'd like to scoop my way as I said I don't know
