Meet the 2025 Audi A6 e-tron

The Next PPE-Based Audi is Here: A New Era for Electric Vehicles

After multiple delays, the next generation of PPE-based Audis has finally arrived, pushing the outgoing gas-powered A6 up to the A7 position and sitting alongside the Q6 Ron as some of the fastest charging and most technologically advanced Audi electric cars ever.

While we won't be including footage of the Lustor A6 Ron Avant station wagon in this article, because Audi hasn't promised its availability for the US market at least not at launch, we can certainly feast our eyes on the production A6 sportback Ron. Luckily, it's a 99% conversion from the concept of the same name, which isn't a bad thing.

The front end of the A6 Ron utilizes fancy customizable light signatures, but due to US law, the show-stopping Matrix LED headlights that change the shapes of the light directed at the road ahead will not be available here. Instead, the rear setup includes lighting within the Audi 4 ring logo, similar to how Volkswagen now does their car's logo.

Wheel sizes range from 19 to 21 inches depending on which options you go for between A6 and S6, with this being a sportback model that still offers a bit of practicality with its large liftback trunk. The trunk reveals a cargo space akin to that of the Mercedes-Benz EQS. The overall shape allows the A6 Ron to earn a coefficient of drag of 21, making it almost as slippery as the Lucid Air, which is the most aerodynamic production EV at a coefficient of drag of 19.

The A6 Ron is powered by the PPE 800v architecture, anchored by a 100 kW hour lithium-ion battery. An onboard 11 kW AC charger provides 270 kW of peak DC fast charging. For the first time in nearly a century for the brand, a rear-wheel drive setup is motivated by a 362 horsepower rear electric motor.

When it comes to charging, a 10-80% charge is expected to take about 21 minutes using DC fast charging. Full range is expected to come in around 400 miles once the EPA gets around to testing it. The A6 Ron's 0-to-60 speed is rated at 5.2 seconds. However, A6 Eon Quattro models add an electric motor to the front axle, bringing total system horsepower to 422 horsepower.

A6 Eon Quattro models are expected to be able to hit as low as 4.6 seconds when it comes to 0-to-60 speed, with S6 Ron offering even more power at 496 horsepower or 543 if you engage launch control. While both the A6 Quattro and S6 Quattro do not have specific range targets at this point, they're expected to keep it between 300 and 400 miles.

The inside of the A6 continues Audi's latest design theme with a curved dual screen setup featuring ChatGPT integration and an optional passenger touch screen. The materials look like an elegant mix of Audi hard plastics and new interesting textiles and vegan leathers. There's also an electrochromatic moonroof that has segmented panels that can be turned from clear to opaque at the touch of a button.

Pricing for the A6 Ron in Europe starts at basically $882,000, while the S6 Ron comes out to nearly $110,000. However, as far as US-specific pricing goes, your guess is as good as ours until Audi USA makes those numbers official. That information should become available between now and the car's projected on-sale date of the end of this year or into early next year.
