**Modding My Own Case: A DIY Adventure**
I'm currently in my kitchen, trying to get better lighting for my camera, and I've decided to lay down a better angle for this particular project. As you can see now, there are some paint issues with the case that need to be addressed. The person who originally did this mod used a plasma cutter, but unfortunately, they also applied a layer of paint to prevent rusting on the inside edge. I wasn't present when this was done, and I had planned to use a paint pen to touch up the edges, but it seems like that idea didn't quite work out.
Now that we can see more clearly, you can see the layer of paint coming along the edge of the case. It's not too bad, but it does look a bit rough in some areas, especially around the corners. However, from a distance, it doesn't seem to be too noticeable. Modding your own case can be tricky territory, and I'm glad I was able to get everything under control.
As I was getting ready to start modding my case, I headed out to the store to pick up a few things I needed. One of the items on my list was an acrylic window, which is actually 18 by 24 inches – too big for the original window, but fortunately, the store was able to cut it down to size for me. I also picked up some truck SUV trim from O'Reilly Auto Parts, which will be used for edging. It's a perfect fit, and I'm excited to get started.
I've got all my materials now, including plastidip, frog tape, and masking. It's time to start painting! Always make sure to shake your cans before applying paint or coating, and it's also important to be in a well-ventilated area. I'm fortunate that the plastic tip on this part of the side panel matches up with the main part of the case, which means I won't have to re-paint the whole thing just for this small section.
Two coats of plastidip should do the trick, and it looks like they're going to match up pretty well. The color is almost identical to the existing black paint on the case. I've decided not to paint the entire case, which will save me a lot of hassle. It's great that the plastidip matched up so well – I'm really glad I didn't have to re-paint everything.
Next, I'll be applying the new channel and placing the double-sided tape where it will hold the clear panels in place. Let's get started with attaching the path! Here we go... Ah, perfect! It looks like that should do the trick. Be careful not to press too hard, as it's still a bit wet.
**The Finished Product**
And there you have it – my side panel mod is complete! The corners of the new channel could be improved, but overall, I'm happy with how it turned out. I've added an acrylic window and used black paint to match up with the rest of the case. It's starting to come together, and I'm excited to see this project come to life. Stay tuned for more updates as I continue to build this custom computer case.
