Apple FINALLY Gave The iPad The Feature It Needed _ iPadOS 17.1

The New Features of iPad OS 17.1: A GameChanger for Audio and More

One of the most exciting features of iPad OS 17.1 is the ability to change our audio source when connected to an external display. This feature has been a long time coming, and Apple finally gave us the ability to customize our audio output. To demonstrate this feature, let's take a look at how it works. If I want to play a video on my iPad Pro, the audio will default to the BenQ monitor by default. However, if I press play, the audio will actually come out of the monitor itself, not just be mirrored or used as an external display. This means that we can control the volume level directly from the iPad, and it's a huge improvement over the previous limitations.

Another feature that was missing was the ability to control the volume level directly from the iPad. In the past, if I wanted to adjust the volume, I had to manually turn it up or down from the external monitor's controller or rear-mounted buttons. But now, with the new iPad OS 17.1, we can actually reroute the audio and use the quad speakers in our iPad Pro. To do this, we simply go into our Control Center and press on the button that says "Available Audio Sources." Then, we select our iPad as one of the available sources. This is a big deal because it means that we don't have to rely on our monitor having good speakers or speakers at all to get an audio source.

The combination of this feature with extended monitor support and floating window stage manager make the iPad Pro a full-fledged computer replacement for many users. With some people, it may not be as suitable, but for others, it's a game-changer. The ability to extend our monitor, control the volume level directly from the iPad, and use the quad speakers is a significant improvement over previous limitations.

The extended monitor support on iPad Pro is another exciting feature that was missing until now. We can connect our iPad Pro to an external display using USB-C or HDMI, and it will mirror the screen or provide an extended desktop experience. This means that we can have multiple windows open at the same time, and switch between them easily.

The floating window stage manager is another new feature that allows us to customize the way we work on our iPad Pro. We can create a new window and move it around independently of other windows, or resize it to fit our needs. This makes it much easier to multitask and get things done efficiently.

In conclusion, the new features of iPad OS 17.1 are exciting and game-changing for many users. The ability to change our audio source, control the volume level directly from the iPad, and use the quad speakers is a significant improvement over previous limitations. The extended monitor support and floating window stage manager make the iPad Pro a full-fledged computer replacement for many users.

Overall, I'm glad that Apple finally gave us these features, and I think they're going to be a big hit with many users. If you have an iPad Pro, now is a great time to upgrade to iPad OS 17.1 and take advantage of these exciting new features.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enso alongside the iOS 17.1 release we also got iPad OS 17.1 and I wanted to make a separate video because there's one big time feature that Apple finally gave us after what seems like years that we really needed to make that iPad OS experience even that much more computer-like so definitely follow me on Twitter because I did release this feature and talk about it over there if you guys want to check me out over there but in this video we will be talking about iPad OS 17.1 there will be some overlap with the iOS 17.1 feature set but again there's one key feature that I definitely want to talk about let's get into it okay everyone so let's get right into this video and to preface this I am using an M1 iPad Pro just so you're aware but everything that I'm speaking about will be available to all iPad OS 17.1 enabled iPads but the first thing I do want to mention and I wanted to play with this for a few days before giving you guys my review and my overall thoughts and kind of going through the settings to see exactly what was going on but we got about a 1 gig update for 17.1 so make sure you have at least 2 gigs worth of open storage to get this installed and get it installed correctly but let's hop right into all these new features and like I mentioned if you guys have seen the iOS 17.1 version of the update there's going to be a lot of similarities between these two updates especially here in the music application so the first thing that we're going to notice is the ability to actually favorite songs so you can see right here there little stars next to these particular songs because I actually went out of my way to favorite them and there's a couple ways to favorite it from the iPad so if you're on here there's this little star right here to be able to favorite it so now I've been able to favorite it you can also go into your control center long press on where the music is and you'll have that same icon right there but then you can also go and do it from the lock screen so as you can see there is that little star right there so you are able to favor the song directly from the actual lock screen itself and then you also have the ability to actually favorite a whole playlist so if I long press on this playlist right here I do have the ability to add it to my favorit so right here it's undo from favorites because I've already favored it so you can actually favorite an entire actual playlist and you can see that it's indicated with this little star right here but what's really nice about this feature is being able to filter based on actual favorites so if I go into all of my songs so these are all the songs are in the library you can actually go to this top right right here go to the favorited and then only what is favored will show up so it's almost like this quasi filtered playlist that's at your disposal at all time so whenever you favorite a song It'll now show up here if it is based on the favorites filter we just add it so if I want to just click on all songs then everything will be back up there another cool one which is awesome is if I go back into this playlist press my three dots right here and press edit you actually have the ability to choose actual wallpaper or choose an actual kind of album cover for your actual playlist so before we'll just show you four different album artworks that are inside of this actual playlist but you're actually able to go into your camera take the photo choose a photo or choose a file and actually put whatever you want as your actual album cover obviously you can rename it right here but then you also get these AI generated actual different playlist if you guys do want to play with this one so this is artwork that Apple gives you by default but you press done and now you actually have the running playlist do one of these but if I press edit again I can actually go back and choose an actual photo and then voila that is not my photo I press done done and now that is my playlist and it will sync across all of your ey devices as well and then the last thing we saw inside of the music app is now if I scroll all the way down you actually get suggested songs for this playlist so it's going to take the genres into account the artist all that good stuff in terms of what you like out of your music and then on the bottom you'll be able to add very very easily what you want or what they actually suggest so if I want to just press this plus sign right here it'll show up right here this Chris Brown song so that is a new feature inside of the music app and apple again is putting a big foot forward into the music app because they want to be able to fully compete with Spotify I know that's kind of 1 a and 1B right now in the music streaming world I actually personally use Spotify more often than not sometimes I use apple music on my Apple watch when I'm running and I'm only using my Apple watch because it actually works a little bit better if you're purely using it on the Apple watch with data I don't know why Spotify is a little hit or miss on the Apple watch but that's something to consider when deciding between Spotify and apple music and leave a comment down below if you want maybe a video comparing both of them deciding which one is actually better overall as an iOS user so the next thing we saw was actually in the home screen itself and then it locks screen so if I lock the actual iPad and then go over to customize so if I want to customize a whole new kind of wallpaper set I can go into my photos and there's a couple new things that we saw on here so the first thing is going to be with the actual wallpaper itself so let's say I go into here I want this to be my wallpaper I can actually pinch to zoom and it actually is going to with machine learning and AI autofill the rest of it so this actual image is actually a little bit of a different aspect ratio than the iPad itself it's built for like a actual monitor instead of a 4x3 aspect ratio so what it's doing is it's kind of adding this after the fact this part right here is not part of the actual wallpaper you actually go to your three dots turn that off so this is the actual wallpaper and then if I want to extend it I just do one of these and it's going to add that and kind of make it feel and adjust that it is part of the actual wallpaper itself which I think this is a beautiful thing to see I'm going to turn this off for now because I kind of like how it looks when it's a little bit bigger so I'm going to turn this off for now because I actually like it how when the wallpaper is a little bit bigger and how it kind of goes behind the clock and things like that but that is something new that came with the new wallpaper and now the next thing to show you is still inside of this this situation right here for the lock screen but it's the photo Shuffle so the photo Shuffle will now allow you to pick your photos from an actual dedicated album so if for instance I have an album that's made of purely wallpapers like I do right here it'll actually shuffle all through these wallpapers right here whenever you want to so on an hourly basis daily basis on tab on lock so it kind of just depends on what you want to do I'm going to use an album on an hourly basis and then every single hour my wallpaper will change before you could have some Shuffle but it would be decided based on what Apple decides versus now you can create an actual folder with wallpapers that then can be shuffled throughout the day whenever you want to which is a nice little addition two more small changes before we get into the actual big one for iPad OS is if you go into our settings and go into battery we actually have a new drain battery category so if you scroll down or go over the last 10 days there should be a USBC accessory so this USBC accessory is a new category and I think it came mostly because iPhone's got USBC finally so now obviously it's going to trickle down to the iPad but basically if you use like a dock or a dongle or a USBC SSD D or any other USBC accessory it will let you know how much battery it drained now you can see that this did take about 11 hours and 33 minutes you know over the last 10 days but that's probably because it is accounting for this USBC accessory plugging into the monitor behind me but it's not accounting for the fact that it's actually charging the battery at the same time so again those 11 hours over time isn't a big deal since I am actually just charging during that entire time but it's cool to see that category when it will be necessary to actually use and then one small one which I thought was fun is if you actually move the volume wronger up and down you can actually pull this more and you can get a little bit more inertia which is something that we did notice which is kind of cool to see so if you pull it all the way it gets a little skinnier you pull it all the way down also gets skinny in the middle it gets a little bit on the chunkier side which is a new little volume animation but now the big one that I do want to show off is that Apple finally gave us the ability to change our audio Source when connected to an external display so I'm going to zoom out here and show you what I mean so if I want to play this video right here the audio is actually going to come out of the monitor by default and this has been the case since pretty much iPads could connect to an external monitor whether it was just mirroring or using it as external display or extended monitor so if I press play here it's going to come out of the BenQ monitor but if you don't have built-in speakers and this was the big issue if there was no built-in speakers to this monitor it would still default to the monitor meaning you couldn't hear anything out loud you'd have to bypass it with some sort of Bluetooth speaker or maybe if you have a USBC dongle with an audio jack but even then it was a little bit funky but if I press play right now that it's actually coming from the BenQ Monitor and then second the issue with that was that you could not control the volume level directly from the iPad so if I wanted to put the volume up and down nothing would actually happen you'd have to manually turn the volume up and down from the external monitor on the rear with the controller or however the case may be but now you can actually reroute that audio and use the actual quad speakers in this iPad Pro so if we go into our Control Center and it's very easy to do it's similar to how you would actually airplate to any other device so if you go into your control center press on this button right here which is all your AirPlay or your you know available audio sources press on the iPad this was not here before which is amazing to see and then not only can you play it but you can actually control it from the iPad itself control the volume like you normally would which is cool to see and then actually go back to the BenQ monitor if you want to as well as any of the other audio sources so this is a big deal because now you don't have to rely on your monitor having good speakers or speakers at all to be able to get an audio Source or audio out of your iPad but leave a thumbs up if this is something that you're going to be using a lot you know I definitely will be but that's going to do it for this video let's finish it up so that's going to wrap up this video everybody like you saw we got a bunch of new features on iPad OS 17.1 that did overlap with iOS 17.1 like those new music features and the extended wallpaper but that one key feature of being able to route and default our audio to our actual quad speakers on the iPad Pro is an absolute GameChanger and I know that's a trivial feature like something that should have been around since the very beginning but again Apple slowly likes to roll out these computer computer like features to make our lives you know to give us wanting more overall with iPad OS 17 or iPad OS in general but I'm glad that we have it but the combination of that the extended monitor support the floating window stage manager you know the iPad Pro is slowly but surely becoming a full-on computer replacement if it it'ss your workflow because with some people it doesn't but with others it really can but that's going to do it for this video Everybody if you did enjoy leave a little dolphin in the comments down below so I know you made it the end and leave a comment down below are you an iPad Pro only user how do you use your iPad is this a big deal for you in order to be able to extend your actual audio through the quad speakers because now if you do have a monitor with no speakers you can Now default that audio directly through your iPad and not kind of sit there in silence or be required to use some sort of Bluetooth speaker but like I mentioned that's going to do it everybody if you want to watch some more iPad OS iOS or Mac OS content click on one of these videos right here and until next time I'm Fernando out you everybody peaceso alongside the iOS 17.1 release we also got
