The All-In-One PC: A Focus on Innovation and Design

The all-in-one PC has been a focus point for innovation in recent years, with many companies striving to create devices that are both functional and visually appealing. According to our vendor, the emphasis on trackpads is a key area of focus, as they have realized that traditional trackpad designs have not met user expectations. To address this, they are investing time and resources into creating a new design for their all-in-one PC.

The Design: A Break from Traditional Laptops

One of the notable features of our all-in-one PC is its design. The entire mechanical connection points are housed inside the LCD, with the back cover providing an additional layer of protection. This design approach provides several benefits, including increased durability and reduced risk of damage. Additionally, by mounting the hinge to the subframe, we can ensure a stable and secure connection between the screen and the rest of the device.

The Growing Popularity of All-In-Ones

All-in-one PCs have been gaining popularity in recent years, with sales figures showing significant growth. This trend is expected to continue as consumers become increasingly aware of the benefits of these devices. With their sleek designs and versatility, all-in-ones are becoming a popular choice for those looking for a more streamlined computing experience.

Walmart's Retail Strategy: A Perfect Match

Our vendor has taken notice of Walmart's innovative approach to retail, transforming its electronic section into a premium shopping experience that rivals Best Buy. We see this as an opportunity to bring our high-quality all-in-one PCs to the mass market, where they will be showcased alongside other top-selling products. By focusing on creating great technology and delivering exceptional customer experiences, we aim to disrupt the traditional retail landscape.

an American company it's actually a really small American company it's 400 employees about half of whom work in the call center with Walmart's help they become the number one TV manufacturer in the United States now that small team is taking the experience and strategy it's learned here here and it's moving to the PC aisle you know people look at the the PC industry and they go you know you guys are crazy right we have analysts that'll say you're crazy that's that's a huge Market granted but it's it's packed with large elephants right people companies that have been in the industry for a long time they have 20 30% market share um how are you going to unseat them they've got teams of 50,000 employees you just can't do that you can't enter a mature stagnant market and hope to capture a lot of market share and you know our the the easy answer to that is that's exactly what the TV industry was eight years ago you know for anybody who's thinking of starting a company don't avoid the mature Market sometimes those are the easiest ones to go disrupt because everyone's asleep one of the things that's striking about your product is that you're running stock Windows right there's very little customization done yeah there's none of that um one of the biggest Trends I think over the past three or four years has been really tight coupling of hardware and software but you're running kind of this very stock this could be Windows anywhere like by a disc did you think about that when you're designing the hardware that you want emphasize yeah the the choice to actually remove a lot of that cleaning all of that off I think goes hand inand with the design and the the the approach that we took the philosophy we we took which is really to to break it down to its its minimum form you know something that's very striking but not going to be cluttered I think Windows is a especially the evolution that's coming with Windows Windows 8 um it's it goes very much hand inand with with the cleanliness of the design and the the impression that you get not only when you see the product closed or laptop and you open it up and and see Windows running on it obviously our readers are incredibly excited about getting a being able to just buy a clean PC is it tempting though to to take sort of the subsidized to push that price even lower and start to compete yeah it is it is but but um you know we thought about it for 30 seconds I mean honestly it it's first it's a differentiator right it does set us apart so it's very easy to Market a product that's clean when everything else is you know completely messed up yeah so it's a sad State of Affairs it is sad and so you can stand out just by building the you know making the correct decisions in the the design of the product we considered the the bottom as much as we did the top and um going with the philosophy of bold details but but minimal break minimal surfaces and not having the stickers and all the the crap that ends up on on PCS and laptops I hate opening up a PC and seeing stickers all over the place and flashing blinking LEDs and I know each one of those has a purpose and there's a reason behind the choices that were made to put them in there but uh we countered that by by asking why you know I'd be equally proud to to leave this on the table like this because I think it's a beautiful design as it is it's not an embarrassing side you have to flip over I think there's benefit that that Vio has entering this Market is we don't have the Legacy uh that that our competitors have um you know the core of this was to to uh to retain these four pieces one thing that's really interesting in the entire PC market to me is trackpad how did you manage to build a trackpad that's good and is it actually good it's good and you get to you get to try it later okay um I mean we're still actually we're in mass production tomorrow on our laptops and we're still fine-tuning today and tonight on the trackpads it's a mix of hardware and software first you have to pick the right Hardware you've got to pick a sensor from a top vendor the shape and the size relative to the keyboard actually matters a lot the physical click mechanism and the substructure that actually holds it so there's a lot of Hardware choice not only component but also mechanical on how you build it and then from then on it's software tuning and it's driver tuning and it's um I mean we I could go on for 6 hours on all the the vulgar details of how to make a good track pack let me ask you this and this is it I believe you I'm going to have to try it and find out but why were you able to do this and no other vendor has ever been able to focus uh it's it's um realizing that trackpads have sucked for a really long time and making that something that we wanted to get right so here's the all one a lot kind of going on here talk to me about the hinge this whole hinge is mounted to the subframe inside the LCD that the back cover
