What's Up Everyone: A Demonstration of Doodle Buddy
Hey everyone, it's John Render and Technobuffalo here to give you a quick demonstration of a pretty cool free download from the App Store for your iPhone and iPod touch. It's called Doodle Buddy, and I think you're going to love it.
Before we get started, let me give you a little background on how iPhones work. You might have heard that they use a capacitive touchscreen, which means there's no squishy feeling when you touch the screen. Instead, it makes its connection through a transfer of electrons from your finger to the screen. That's why you can't use an iPhone with gloves or wear it through your shirt - it needs to be a fingertip or some kind of skin on the phone.
On the other hand, there's something called a resistive touchscreen that you might have seen on Windows mobile devices. These touchscreens are a little bit squishy and make connections from two layers of film when you push down. It's interesting to see how different technologies can create unique experiences for users.
Now, let's talk about why I'm bringing this up with Doodle Buddy. The resistive touchscreens on Windows mobile devices use a stylus for drawing, which gives people more accuracy than they would get with just their finger. However, there wasn't a pretty decent or fun drawing application out there for the iPhone before Doodle Buddy came along. So, I'm excited to show you what this free app has to offer.
Let's Launch Doodle Buddy
Okay, let's go ahead and launch Doodle Buddy on our iPhone. Ah, here it is! Sometimes it's fun just when you're wasting time you want to draw a picture or something so you can send advertisements, obviously because it's free. And that's exactly what I'm going to do now.
As we start drawing, notice how easy it is to pick your pen and pen color, as well as the size of the pen. You can adjust these settings right here on the screen. Let me move this slider over a bit... Ah, looks good! How about I go with brown? Now I can start drawing.
Now that we've got our basics set up, let's say we want to draw a face. We're taking our finger and drawing a big circle - that's sort of a face right there. There's a little stamp button next to it, which gives us access to all sorts of other shapes and doodles we can use.
Let me pick one of these stamps... Ah, here's a mouth! Now I can add some personality to our character. Let me go back to my brown pen - you know, so I don't mess up my face drawing. Add a nose and some hair, and that's pretty good for a first try if I do say so myself.
Smudge Tools and Erasing
Now that we've got our basic shape drawn, let's see what other options are available to us in Doodle Buddy. Look at this - there are smudge tools! These allow me to soften or blur out certain parts of my drawing, which can really add some personality to our character. Let me show you how it works by smudging out the outline of my face.
And look - I can also erase parts of my drawing with a single tap of the screen. This is so easy and convenient! Now that I've erased what I want to erase, let's try something new. How about I go back to my original brown pen?
Backgrounds and More
One of the coolest things about Doodle Buddy is how much control we have over our backgrounds. We can change them from white or pick a photo from our own library - so there are plenty of options for us to choose from.
Let me show you some of these background options... Ah, here's a new one! I like this background. You can also change the color of your text or add more doodles and stamps to really make your drawing stand out.
Shaking to Clear
Now that we've got all our settings set up, let's try shaking the screen a bit to clear everything away from our original drawing. This is so much fun! You can shake the screen as hard as you want - it doesn't matter if you're doing 5 shakes or 50, it's just going to erase your entire drawing and start all over again.
And that's really cool about Doodle Buddy - sometimes it's okay to just let go of everything and start from scratch. You can use this feature whenever you need a fresh start or want to try something new. It's like having a digital eraser right in our app.
Writing Notes and Drawing with Others
Another feature I love in Doodle Buddy is how we can write notes in the margins or even draw doodles around them. This makes it easy for us to keep track of what we're writing about, as well as what kind of doodles we want to add to our drawing.
We can also invite friends to join us in drawing together using this app. It's just a tap away - let me show you how to do that... Ah, here's an invitation for one of my friends! They can come along and draw with me right now.
That's pretty cool, don't you think? Let's get our pen ready and start creating!
Conclusion
I hope you guys enjoyed this little tour of Doodle Buddy. As I said before, it's a great free app that lets us express ourselves creatively in all sorts of ways. We can draw, doodle, write notes, or even invite friends to join us for some collaborative fun.
So if you're looking for an app that lets your creativity shine through, be sure to check out Doodle Buddy today!
