Top Five Rejected Top Fives of 2018: A Look Back at What Didn't Make the Cut

As we approach the new year, we're taking a look back at some of our favorite rejected top fives from 2018. At number five on this list is Apple Rumors that Never Die. We know that Apple always seems to be able to grab people's attention with their latest and greatest products. This time around, rumors were flying about the company's plans for an Apple television, Apple car, and even iOS coming to Mac OS. However, it turns out that Apple addressed this rumor by saying that iOS would not be making its way to Mac OS anytime soon. But, as we all know, Apple is a master of surprise, and they did manage to port their iOS apps directly to Mac OS.

We also took a closer look at the Dark Phoenix movie, which was initially set for release in 2018 but got pushed back due to some behind-the-scenes changes. We've seen a version of Dark Phoenix in X-Men: The Last Stand, but it wasn't exactly the most satisfying conclusion to the story. With that in mind, we decided to revisit the Dark Phoenix saga and come up with our top five things we'd like to see in the movie when it finally hits theaters.

At number three on this list is Top Apps for NaNoWriMo. For those who may not be familiar, NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month, which takes place every November. The goal of the event is to write a new novel in just 30 days, and we thought that there might be some useful apps out there that could help make this process easier. However, after doing some research and testing out a few different options, we realized that it was going to be tough to get everything done without panicking. Maybe next year will be the time when we can make NaNoWriMo work with the right tools.

Kids' TV Shows were another topic that we thought would be interesting to explore. As an parent of an 8-year-old son, I've spent a lot of time watching children's television with him, and I have to say that there are some shows out there that really do stand out from the crowd. From the logic and storytelling of shows like SpongeBob SquarePants to the more obscure references in shows like Pokémon, we found ourselves getting lost down the rabbit hole of kids' TV trivia. While we didn't make it to the top five this time around, we're definitely going to be keeping an eye out for other great shows to watch with our kids.

Finally, at number one on our list is Browsers that are Not Chrome. We were really excited about the idea of exploring different web browsers and comparing them to Chrome, but unfortunately, we just didn't have enough time to get everything done. With so many other projects competing for our attention, it was tough to give each browser the fair ranking that they deserved. If you're looking for alternative browsers to try out, however, I would definitely recommend checking out Brave, Opera, and Firefox - all of which have gotten a lot better over the past few years.
