These 10 macOS Tips Will Make Your Life EASIER!

**Using Hot Corners on Your Mac**

If you're one of those people who loves having quick access to Mission Control, you'll love Hot Corners on your Mac. But sometimes, accidentally triggering these corners can get annoying. Luckily, you can adjust the settings to prevent that from happening.

To do so, head into System Settings and go to Desktop & Dock. You'll see the Hot Corners dialog box in the bottom corner of the screen. If you hold down a modifier key while setting up your hot corner, you'll now have the ability to customize which keys trigger each corner. In my case, I like to hold down the Command key to initiate the Hot Corner. This means that if you hover over the bottom left or right corner of your screen, nothing will happen unless you press the modifier key.

**Customizing Your Dock**

The dock in your Mac is a great place to quickly access frequently used apps and files. By default, it shows three of your most recently used applications. But if you want to change that, say you want to add 10 apps that you've recently opened, it's not as simple as just clicking on the number in the dock. Instead, you'll need to use the Terminal app to edit a configuration file.

To do this, open up the Terminal app and paste the following command into the window: `defaults write dock persistent-apps -array-add '{"label": "Recent App 1", "type": "application"}'`. Repeat this process for each of your desired apps, making sure to customize the label to match the actual name of the app. Then, close the Terminal app and go back into System Settings and go to Desktop & Dock. You'll see a section called Dash int 10 (or whatever number you chose earlier). Click on that number to change it to whatever new value you want.

**Resizing Windows**

If you're not fond of resizing windows by dragging from the top right corner, you can customize this behavior as well. When you drag your mouse from one side or corner of a window to resize it, you can hold down the Option key to resize the dimensions of the window from its Center Point instead.

**VIP Notifications**

If you're like me and love VIP notifications in your Mail app, you'll want to know how to customize this feature. To do so, go into System Settings and click on the "Rules" tab. Then, click "Add Rule" and for the first condition, select "Sender is VIP". Next, under "Perform the following actions", select "Play sound from the first drop-down". Finally, choose a sound to play for this rule, and then click "OK" and apply.

**Floating Notes**

In Mac OS, you can float individual notes over other windows so that they stay invisible regardless of which application is currently active. To do this, simply double-click on a note in the Notes app to open it in a separate window. Then, select "Window keep on top" from the menu bar. The note will now remain above other open applications even if you switch between apps using Stage Manager.

**Toolbar Shortcuts**

If you're one of those people who loves having shortcuts on their toolbar, you'll love this tip. To add a convenient app file and folder shortcut to the toolbar of Finder windows, simply begin dragging an item within the Finder window, hold down the Command key, and drop it into an available space on the toolbar.

**Modifier Keys on Max Keyboard**

If your Mac has a Max keyboard with icons printed on some of the function keys, you can customize these features by pressing the corresponding modifier keys. For example, pressing F11 or 12 with speaker icons will adjust the volume. Holding down Option when pressing one of these keys will open the Sound Pane and allow you to choose from various preferences.

**Bonus Tip: Using Modifier Keys**

If your Max keyboard has other feature icons on some of the function keys, such as a globe icon, you can press those keys with Option held down to perform special features. For example, pressing F11 or 12 with a globe icon will switch to the language set in System Preferences. By using these modifier key combinations, you can discover new and useful shortcuts for your Mac.

**Conclusion**

These are just some of the lesser-known tips that can make your Mac experience even better. Whether it's customizing Hot Corners, resizing windows, or taking advantage of VIP notifications, there are plenty of ways to take control of your Mac and make it work the way you want. By following these tips, you'll be well on your way to becoming a Mac expert.
