Day I was transitioning too early and then hitting the bump off throttle that was causing me to loop out. It wasn't until later that I realized it, but it's a pretty common problem to have at OSW. And it's really important to uh kind of keep the rear end squatted through that area so you'll see here kind of left a gap drive into him not as much handbrake corrections or anything. I'm just going to steering in a little handbrake there, just kind of fall back and get the car where I want it to be, and then here I'm transitioning too soon and I can't blast on the throttle to get the side bite that I need to make around that inner clip.
This run I'm following Jeff Jones. His car is pretty fast but he's always got a good nice smooth lead line. Enter don't do much real funny business behind him, a little bit more gap than I would have liked to have here, a little handbrake to rotate the car, drive through, and this is one of the few runs where I did transition a little bit later and allow myself to get on the throttle sooner so I was able to kind of get in that pocket. But I think he had a little weird wobble there that caused me to fall back or something. We'll be able to tell more when we see the outside footage of that same run.
Right here, yeah a little bit late to enter, so you see I have some ground to make up here, shallow catching up pretty quick and coming down on the bank. I fall behind here, get myself right to where I need to be, transition and I set myself up to get on throttle and just drive right up into him. You see here, he kind of like has a bobble. I hesitate and then that hesitation causes another gap.
So this one following Dylan Hughes, pretty good entry timing, a little bit too close to him, a little too long to get on throttle, I had that little correction because I threw too much angle. I don't remember if I hit the wall or not but got the car placed roughly where I wanted it again though. I think I transitioned too early here; it doesn't let myself get set up to get on throttle when I need to resulting in me plowing the inner clip. Not a good thing.
This run was my only lead of the day, I'm pretty happy with it. Uh if I remember correctly, the only thing that I wanted to work on a little bit just kind of this little rotation at the end of the bank I knew I could clean up a little bit and just kind of tightening up on those inner clips. But in terms of transition timing and speed, the car was fast. You could see I believe Gucci was following me and he was having work to keep up. I really like this run following Essa, I was able to kind of drive up into him and then rather than doing a bunch of handbrake corrections, I was using a little bit of clutch work to kind of put the car where I wanted it, falling back but again having the same issue where I'm just having that urge to transition too early and it kind of throws off my line and I'm not able to do the corner like I need to.
I think it was also out of tire here but definitely one of the things I knew that I needed to work on the most leading into the next day, which you guys will see in the next video was kind of my transition timing through that center area. It's weird because it's such a simple thing to do at OSW with it only being two corners but between the bump and timing and coming off the bank if you mess that area up pretty much smokes you for the rest of the track.
You can see right here boom by the inner clip, way offline really like early apexing it versus late apexing it which is what you need to do. I think this is going to be the end of the video for you guys since we trailed in from the other video got a bunch of chase practice in, I feel really great on the bank banks have always been a weakness of mine, I think the last round of clutch kickers and having already driven here before I feel really good there's some stuff I got to work through in the infield luckily I got seven chase runs in one lead run tomorrow we get four laps before qualifying probably do maybe two leads two chases and work on that infield area um but I try to do that voice over over the footage to explain some of the stuff that's going on to give you context instead of just random footage.
Uh but anyway, hope you guys enjoyed this video. The next one you see will have qualifying and competition on it. It's great being out here, it's cool seeing all the friends I'm excited to watch Prospect make sure you go root Dimitrion and all the other homies and we'll see you guys soon when you said
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: eni'm super excited for today's video guys luke fink is stopping by my good friend from australia i felt like we hadn't seen each other in forever thankfully we got some laps on driftweek had sweet to have him here back in the states again and today he's stopping by the compound damn this thing's here yeah are you gonna rip it yeah oh hell yeah i heard it's about the hail is it uh they said put our shirt inside are you fiberglass or metal all the top is metal all right let's just stick it in somewhere bro risk it for the biscuit his ti is rad i think that thing's all motor s54 make some good power welcome to the bush where's luke at back there hey were you the one that got ran over by the tree yeah are you good i'm gonna see if luke lets me put that clip in the video so the clutch switch just didn't work it didn't work like i purposely didn't even take it out of the tune absolutely that didn't happen yeah that's crazy luke even tried it afterwards and it still wouldn't start so it was like one earth well i'm glad you're okay what's up buddy welcome to the bush mate don't leave me mate i heard us about the hail is it yeah oh that sucks so you saw the video huh yeah can i put it in my video i should definitely put it in your video it's he just hit the button and apparently it started and i was shaving and i didn't even know he was anywhere near my car all i did was look up and see my car would look like four feet in the air wait wait you're you're shaving on the porch yeah is that an australian i didn't want stuff to go on there like it was staying a nice house i didn't want anything to get i was just kicking back out the front the weather's nice here so i'm like whatever and next thing i see the kind of four feet in the air like i didn't even hear the car start because my car's so quiet it's literally running right now you can't hear it over there and my car's flying through the air landing rust is getting dragged along and all i see is going towards the house so we got to crash at a nice house and crash into a nice house so yeah that's been my morning so far i'm glad the kids weren't in it that's that's what i was worried about we just got the hitting of the trees out of the way before we got here that's the plan yeah what'd you say where this morning we went and we went and saw a rocket launch this morning dude we've had the whole florida experience yeah we went to watch a rocket launch while we're there dolphins came up and then all of a sudden alligator popped up right in front of us why are we watching a freaking rocket along beautiful sunrise with beautiful sunrise and now it's about the hill and there was a huge snake out on the road just before and russ crashed my car and it's all happening and now we're here buddy all right well we're gonna have some fun i'm looking forward to it should we get out of this weather now yeah probably let's do it i think golf carts are the most fun thing when you're a kid you having fun yeah all right dude we've got there's trees coming yeah you're doing pretty good do you know where you're going you know where you're going where are you going oh that's a fast turn turn miles miles and miles i'm gonna hit something oh so um so you guys i found a starbucks thing in one of your golf carts so total guesstimation of going down to about maybe 20 psi because my car's stuck and i can't spin it let go and the air here it's actually super painful to let air pressure out like the air coming out of here would have to be like 150 degrees like just every time i do that it feels like it's burning i think i don't want to just let pressure out yeah oh uh hmm um by far the coolest entry ever done at the lc compound of course it's luke i was i knew you'd either do like the coolest entry or you'd probably hit the tree the hardest so i'm glad that you did the first thing we got the tree out of the way remember oh yeah that happened this morning that was good well not good but it was like we got it out of the way that was that that's fun dude so this is like one of the few places i can enjoy solo driving because if you can just go right it feels like you're on the tailgate almost that's the thing i want to go and do that right now because your tires are spent my time is almost spent my car just won't cool down yeah nice skid buddy yeah what's dad doing um he's about to go drifting yep i want to go to the ramp okay be careful you're officially getting the second ride in the skyline ever yeah well i drove this earlier just very slow around the compound to take some nice pictures of it you know it already felt really crazy it felt like a drift car because as you just said it was a drift car i didn't realize that it feels more like a like a rolling i don't know rolling roll race car getting ready okay here we go oh my god oh this car's sick dude this thing is insane i forgot how high it rem's i think we're going almost 9 grand this is this is not a drift car no so i was driving it around at like five miles an hour to get some pictures of it earlier and it felt like a drift car it was clunking like crazy like a drift car it has a lot of angle but it's this this moves out like this is like a good roll race and like a half mile car what's sick about is it puts the power down really well for like 800 horsepower we barely spun that's crazy and you know just that touch of rev limiter just so good it's so much turbo noise too like when you floor it it's like the world is about to end yeah it's so good so like this is a good car for the straight florida roads i feel like yeah this is just that's pretty much what it became yeah incredible completely unexpected also i was very surprised at how small the doors are yeah compared to my gtr you know just because um i've never really ridden in a four door what a cool build so we got a bunch of still photos of it around the compound i feel like next up is getting some nice action shots of course it's gonna be really hard to get shots of it moving at speed so it definitely would be awesome to get some launch photos of it yeah this thing just um as you're saying just squat it down from launching but then if you see just that 11 that strike kind of leading up to the car with just a little bit of smoke and maybe a little bit of counter steering i think that would be so cool i don't know if it leaves 11's i'm gonna watch so fourth gear is when it actually gets in a full boost oh my gosh pulled out you probably start spinning it fourth that's sick wait so did you get down to first no that was second that was second yeah so second i mean you were spinning and but not a lot like fourth i feel like it's fun the most each gear it's just more and more boost like second gear i'd say it's probably like 600 horsepower 30 years probably like 700 and for the z wow this is like an undercover skyline without being too undercover yeah it's like if you people who know will know you know people will know they're like oh that's just a four-door r32 you know gtsd big whoop yo i thought a kid was yelling at me from the sidewalk look at this i've never seen a wild peacock i hope it makes a sound again it's weird seeing this thing all dark now i love it with the red interior all right it's practice day for formula drift orlando the structure of this event's a bit different since this is the first pro spec round so pro has eight rounds prospect has four rounds and they kind of get sprinkled in with the pro rounds like every other round or whatever we got a four hour practice today should turn a decent amount of laps i'm gonna do a bunch of chasing there's a first track that i've already driven the rtr mustangs on and they felt great i'm super run down from a non-stop week so i'm gonna try to go do my thing get some practice in and then probably head home rest and watch prospect qualifying from bed it's gonna be hot these next couple days they're all early mornings going into late nights it's always so weird to see my home track aka the skid pad we filled up with all these big fd rigs so okay oh i've been reading the comments and i know you guys have liked voiceover so i'm going to do that for this run and other runs first run of the day had a pretty good entry following taylor hole he's super smooth but you could see i'm making a lot of corrections and kind of diving in and doing weird stuff behind him i was experimenting with using the handbrake opposed to using a left foot brake to avoid any sort of push movement and it obviously was not the right thing or the right tool to use but for my first taste of the day i was actually pretty content with this one here's in car from the same run you could tell that the rtr mustang has no problem keeping up with him on the straight i got the timing of the entry pretty good got on throttle and just kind of scared myself because this thing was a rocket ship so you see this time when i pulled a handbrake his car just rocket ships away because he has all that wheel speed and i don't um i'd later stop doing that so much but for the first run of the day again i'm not super dissatisfied with it second run of the day following olsen i think i gave a little bit too much of a gap here but i was kind of experimenting with the ability of the car to catch up to someone on the bank i was able to catch up to him pretty good stayed nice and smooth but coming through here uh one of the biggest issues that i faced during the day i was transitioning too early and then hitting the bump off
