iPhone 8 Launch Day: A Look at the New Wireless Charging Bases
Hey guys, how's it going? It's Justine and happy iPhone 8 launch day! I feel like every time there's an iPhone launch, something goes wrong. I mess up my pre-order, I order the wrong phone, I'm traveling, or I'm out of town. Never fails, always something. But this time, I'm traveling for a really fun project, and I've only gone for a day, which means tomorrow I'll be back in town to get to my iPhone. Today is Friday, and I filmed this a few days ago.
I was trying to think what case would look best with my new gold iPhone 8, and probably just gonna go back to getting a white case. But I thought I'd try out this new pink sand iPhone 8 case, which comes in different colors, including this one that's called "pink sand." It's a really pretty color, sort of like a blush pink. I'm wondering if it'll fit on my iPhone 7, and yes, the iPhone 8 case fits on the iPhone 7. Essentially, I think this case is basically the same as the previous one, just labeled as an iPhone 8 case.
I also got a pinks and Apple watch band to match, of course. You've got to get the band with the case for fashion reasons, right? The first thing I'll unbox is this iPhone case. It's called the riveting unboxing, which sounds like a lot of fun! And now that it's out, I love this color. It's really pretty, and I think it's going to look great on my new iPhone 8.
Now, let's take a look at the Apple watch band. You get a pinks one with the same pink sand case I got earlier, which looks perfect! But, I was also thinking about getting a black one or maybe a white one. Which way do you guys think? Should I go for the pinks one or something different?
Now that we've talked about cases and bands, let's move on to wireless charging pads. I've been using Mophie wireless charging things in the past, but this time, I decided to try out both the Belkin and the Mophie models. I feel like pads are more uncomfortable than mats, so I'm not sure which one I prefer. But first, let's talk about how they work.
First up is the Belkin wireless charging pad. It seems to be almost the same size as my previous Mophie charger, but it has a much lower profile and weighs less. The power cable plugs right into the back of the unit, which makes it very easy to use. But, I notice that Samsung's had wireless charging for forever, and their messages are green, not blue. Oh wait, here comes the Belkin and Mophie, so let me compare them.
I'm kind of thinking that I like the Mophie one a little bit more because it's smaller and less intrusive than the Belkin model. It looks like something you could put your phone on to charge without even realizing it's there! But, if you have the sitting down, it's very non-intrusive. On the other hand, I'm not sure about this one. It's more like a little squished hockey puck. Which one do you guys think is better? The Belkin or the Mophie?
Moving on from charging pads to charging itself. Samsung has had wireless charging forever, but guess what? Their messages are green, not blue! This is because they use qi wireless technology for both the iPhone 8 and the iPhone X. So, if your phone uses that same technology, you can charge wirelessly with these pads.
I'm also curious to know which type of charging pad most people prefer: mats or pads. As I mentioned earlier, I feel like pads are more uncomfortable than mats. But maybe some people might have a different opinion? I'd love to hear from you guys!
Now that we've talked about all the new wireless charging bases for the iPhone 8 and Apple Watch, it's time for me to wrap up this unboxing video. If you guys have been subscribed for a while, you know this is nothing new. But I'm still excited to try these things out with my new devices.
In fact, now that we've talked about all the different wireless charging bases, I think it's time for me to head off to bed. It's 11:30 PM, and just past my bedtime. And, of course, I haven't packed for my flight in the morning yet. That's nothing new, guys.
