Predicting Five-Star Reads: A Year of Fantasy and Science Fiction
BR is gonna be five stars you think so my first prediction was Red Seas Under Red Skies by Scott Lynch, this ended up being 4.75 because I've gotten picky and I couldn't quite give it five I think the first book was five stars and I was like this isn't quite as good as the first book but it's still really good so it gave a four point seven five but it's essentially a five star read my second prediction was Traitor's Blade by Sebastian de Castell, de s-- I gave three point five stars - it was a solid foundation but I think I want to enjoy the later books in this series a lot more and those could be five-star reads then The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden, this ended up being four stars but still a very good book and one that I was considered a favorite of 2017 I think is when I read it I think then The Grace of Kings by Ken Loi, this one I'm actually DNF'd slash set aside because I do still have my place in it I do still think I'm gonna read it but it's not a huge priority to me and I just wasn't roped in as much as I definitely thought it was going to be and lastly We Have to Like The Lightning by ADA Palmer, this is when I just read this month and I've done a review on so I will link that on the screen this one like I said is one that kind of defies star rating so I gave it four but I think it's pretty close to being a five-star book in that it was amazing but just as one of those books it's like there's things about it that aren't enjoyable because they're not supposed to be enjoyable so it's hard to rate it as five stars and that kind of thing so kind of all over the place with one book that I end up kind of like DNeffing and the rest of them being fairly high rating.
More Recent Predictions
These since you guys know what my goals for this year are hopefully all these books I will get read within the year which would be fantastic and we won't have like a year and a half between TBR videos so that's that's a goal for now so maybe we'll get these a little more frequently I don't know and like I said in the first video this is really hard because I tend to know that five-star books don't come around very often if they're kind of hard to predict and there's a lot of books on my shelf I think I'm gonna be four stars but I don't necessarily predict that they'll be five so this was kind of hard a couple of these I'm unsure of they're sort of similar to like The Lightning when I did my first predictions where I'm like well looking either way but a couple of these I'm like pretty certain I'll be five stars the first of those being Wicked Saints by Emily Duncan, this is the book that I've highly anticipated and I feel like is going to speak to me on every single level so I'm pretty certain this is gonna be a five-star then We Have the Trader Brew Komarov by Seth Dickinson, I've had this recommend it to me so many different times and I just get the feeling that this could definitely be a high start rating for me then Obsidian Oh by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman, this is the finale to a series I feel like it's gonna be good I don't really know I kind of put this one on like optimistically Gemini wasn't very strong for me that I loved illuminae and I feel like this will wrap everything up and bring everything back into where I love it so hopeful for this one 12 Kings but Bradley Vallejo is another one that was on one of my last year annual TBR's didn't quite get to it but I definitely feel as though this could be a five-star read for me which is why it's been on the top of my CPRS for a while now and lastly Foundry Side by Rephael Bennett, this is one that has spoken to me since before it was even released I obviously do have an archive impetus and it's been released and I just really feel like this is what I'm gonna like it's gonna be sort of an urban setting fantasy but it's a actual fantasy but it's set in a city and stuff like that so I am excited about this one and very hopeful for this one as well.
