Introduction to the Pocky Challenge
Greetings my beautiful lovelies, hello it's Emmy welcome back to another spicy hot challenge today I'm going to be tasting this and this unfortunate thing is the Pocky one chip challenge made with the world's hottest pepper de carolina stinkin reaper yikes and this wicked Hot Chip was very kindly sent to me by lovely Eric Eric thanks so much I think what this has been very much requested by many of you for me to try after seeing some of my other spicy challenges if you've missed that I shall put the playlist up there and down below I've eaten the spicy ramen noodles I've eaten ghost chili pepper Japanese curry all kinds of good spicy things so if you're into shame and faretta and some suffering of others then go check it out so while I am resigned to the fact that this is going to be wickedly hot and I'm not so thrilled about the idea I am excited about testing various things that are supposed to be heat relievers so I've got honey for my own beehives I've got hot buttered toast I've got peanut butter and I've got some yogurt all these things are new to me I've always tried using milk to kind of alleviate the heat but I'm lactose intolerant so milk can give me a little bit of trouble which I think was part of my problem in the Japanese spicy curry which just I was ill afterwards but I think it might have had to do with the amount of milk I consume I do fine with yogurt and this is nice and cool so I'm looking forward to that but yeah this will be a little test on heat alleviation so for those who are curious let me tell you a bit more about what makes capsaicin in spicy food. Capsaicin is the chemical responsible for that burning sensation we all know when we eat something too hot.
The Pocky One Chip Challenge
Now, onto the challenge at hand I'm going to start by eating one of these Pocky one chips it's just a little chip and I'm hoping it will be manageable. Sesame alleviate errs this is just some plain yogurt nice and cold full fat yogurt and capsaicin which is the chemical that causes this heat sensation is apparently fat soluble so things like yogurt and dairy are supposed to alleviate the heat let's try it yeah it doesn't kind of nicely coats your tongue and it's definitely helping with the burn in the back of the throat hello wow it actually makes your heart race a little bit amazing next let's try a little bit of peanut butter this is the same idea as yogurt it has some fat and it's supposed to make the capsaicin more soluble let's see ya know that the yogurt has diminished the heat is coming back hmm I'm a huge fan of peanut butter no like that one so much and the effect is not as good yogurt is definitely better yes although it's momentary it comes right back alright let's try a piece of toasted bread starches such as bread rice are supposed to kind of scrub out some of the capsaicin and this has butter on it which is some fat which hopefully will help as well and I'm going to use some honey this is my fall harvest honey it's much darker than my spring harvest I'm super excited too delicious tastes different than the spring harvest I'm feeling some relief now good yogurt is the winner I'm gonna take some of my honey here and drizzle it on this beautiful bread oh I should have done half so I'll do it with a bite with honey and then I'll do a bite without let's try one of my favorite things in the world honey toast that's some good stinking bread a little bit chewy has a little bit sour dough in it it's not as toasted because I just toasted before I did this tasting it's much better when it's crisper but I don't know if that's really helping because at this point I think the level of heat is definitely diminishing but it tastes really good I think this is more of a morale booster I'm not sure that it's really be a ting any heat but oh I can feel it going down to the pit of my belly now oh hopefully I'll be alright.
The Effectiveness of Honey
