Mobiecube TV Stick Unboxing And Review

**Unboxing and Initial Impressions**

I recently unboxed my new Mobii Cube TV Stick, a device that promises to revolutionize the way we watch movies and stream our favorite shows. The device itself is compact and lightweight, making it easy to carry around. As I inserted the 64GB microSD card, I was excited to see if it would work seamlessly with the device.

**Performance Comparison**

I compared the performance of my Mobii Cube TV Stick to that of my old LG Smart TV, which is running on a dual-core processor with only one gigabyte of CPU. The Mobii Cube TV Stick is significantly faster than its counterpart, which was a relief to see. The device's quad-core processor and 1.54 GHz clock speed give it a noticeable boost in performance compared to the older TV.

**Kodi Installation**

I decided to try out Kodi, a popular video player software that allows users to manage their own video collection. I added a couple of videos to Kodi and was pleased to see that the device detected the 64GB microSD card. The videos played smoothly, but I did notice some stutters in the mouse pointer movement.

**Video Playback**

I tried playing a few different types of videos on the Mobii Cube TV Stick, including a 4K video, which unfortunately did not play due to hardware limitations. However, I was able to successfully play a 1080p clip and an MKV file with high definition audio and extras. The device struggled to run a 2K clip, but even then, it was able to display some video content.

**Temperature Concerns**

During my testing, the device started to get quite warm, reaching temperatures of up to 72 degrees Celsius. This raised concerns about potential performance throttling due to heat issues. I'll need to monitor this closely to ensure that the device doesn't become a thermal bottleneck.

**Browser and App Performance**

I attempted to use YouTube and other apps on the Mobii Cube TV Stick, but experienced some lag and stuttering issues. The device's hardware may not be optimized for demanding tasks like web browsing or gaming. However, it should still provide smooth playback for streaming services like Netflix.

**Conclusion**

Overall, my initial impressions of the Mobii Cube TV Stick are mixed. While it offers impressive performance compared to older devices, it does have some limitations when it comes to more demanding tasks. The device's temperature concerns and lag issues with browser apps need to be addressed before I can fully recommend it. However, for casual movie watching and streaming, the Mobii Cube TV Stick seems like a solid option at its price point.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi chris from tech tablets here with something new today this is the mobi q tv stick so it's one of those sticks that you can just put into your tv it runs android and it'll basically turn any monitor or tv that has an hdmi port into well like a smart tv that you could stream netflix run youtube and google play all those kind of apps and games and things as well that you can get off google play so this is a recently released one here that retails for around 40 50 us dollars so it's not too bad price wise so the specs on the box here tell us that it's got an amilogic s805 up to 1.5 gigahertz but it's an arm cortex a5 and there's four cores it's got a melee 450 quad core that runs at 600 megahertz there so one gigabyte of data data rate three ram 8 gigabyte flash drive and it supports well wireless ac as well so that's not too bad pretty strong wi-fi signal and it's interesting they put that there but because it's got the external antenna there so that shouldn't give you any problems there was signal and you've got one micro usb port for power one for on the go and it's powered by five volts running android 4.4 there so let's have a look inside the box and see what we have all right so there it is a moby cube tv stick you can see it has an external antenna here so they'll give us that pretty good wi-fi signal there they're talking about on the box and on the side there's your micro sim card slot usb micro usb for on the go support there and on the back power micro usb for power and we have a usb 2 port there there's nothing else on this side it's uh made out of aluminium here well it's the outside housing is so there's the input there 5 volt 2 amps here so that's your standard kind of mobile phone chargers running that tablet charger and of course we do have the hdmi port there and there's a bit of plastic on the top here just interesting not sure what that is for maybe there's a infrared receiver below there maybe maybe not doesn't seem to be on the specs there so let's have a look and see what else is in the box okay they've included an hdmi extension cable just a short one i guess so that's for people that can't fit the whole thing in the back of their tv because some tvs while my monitor has this slot it's up that way so you plug it in like that and other tvs some of them the older ones i know one of my old lg tvs you would actually plug it in like this and if you've got the tv up against the wall or something or there's not much space and that could be a bit of a problem so it's kind of good to have included that little extension cable there and here we have obviously the power charger let's have a quick look and see if i can read the rating of it the same yeah of course it's what they claim on the box it needs 5 volts 2 amps so that is good and what have we got an otg micro usb to normal size usb adapter here so that's good they've included that too for us all right so i'm just gonna go plug it in now to my monitor and we'll have a look at how it runs and install a few games and run a few benchmarks okay i'm up and running now here with the mobicube tv stick as soon as you plug it in it will turn itself on and it takes a little while to boot up and you get presented here with this custom launcher here that they've got so they've categorized things to make it a little bit easier so you have other movies here we have kobe youtube netflix tv you can add your own applications here so if you're in the uk you could go along and add bbc or itv applications which i can't actually use those because i'm in spain and they are um blocked to me because i'm not within the uk an itv player there so you can add all those two different applications you want news uh there's lots of pre-installed apps here that will be handy you can see it's geared up for the american market definitely with the mba nfl espn and you'll see down here also there's a couple interesting little features here so if you want your typical android kind of menu with all your icons there then you just got to click on this down here and that will bring everything up here so you can see we've got chrome clock browser uh gmail all those kind of things even maps that you would have normally on an android device so they're all there as well as other applications of course you can go and grab lots more yourself because you all need to do is just log into uh google play store which i can confirm is working just fine let's go into that now so you can run that and find various applications that you want there and download those and then you can set them up on the the stick here so the device itself doesn't have a lot of power now this is an older generation called core cpu it's got a mali 450 so it's not very fast at all now i did actually just take a quick benchmark run with antutu which we'll just show you now so this is the antutu score here it's just over 10 000 so you can see that that is uh reasonably slow um it's not a gaming power machine or anything like that it's really not designed for that too i mean you only got one gigabyte of ram there to play around with so you can probably play some light games it shouldn't be too much of a problem no not that demanding games but if you want to try and play the latest games like modern combat uh five blackout then no this it's not gonna work on this at least it won't be playable i don't think so that score is quite low so the atom bay trials that i normally test they run around about 32 thousand anywhere between thirty two thousand and thirty six thousand so you can see this is about they are three times faster this is three times slower here than the betrayal atoms and internet explorer i think well not sorry not internet explorer i mean browser and chrome they're on board there so you can surf the internet as well and have a look around just load up tech tablets here and see how that works now i had to use the extension cord to connect it up to my monitor here because there just wasn't enough room there for me to plug the whole tv stick in there behind my monitor the weights get out the recess there just wasn't enough room so the extension cord did come in handy there so that runs on there and it seems fast enough it's definitely held a lot faster than my lg smart tv which is only running like a dual core one gigabyte um cpu that is very slow this is at least a lot better than that and quite a bit faster there now quick look at kodi here this is a video player here that you can run your own video collection add them to it and i just added a couple of videos here now i do have a samsung 64 gigabyte micro sd card inserted into the device and it does detect it it does work which is good i was a little bit worried that it might not because it was 64 gigabyte and some some of these uh devices they do have problems if it's only 32 gigabytes normally it's okay but once you go over that sometimes they can have problems but it depends on the brand as well but it seems to be good now i've got a 4k video here although the thumbnails showing up on there i did try to play that but i don't think the hardware actually supports playback of 4k this is a little bit too difficult for it there's a gravity trailer here 2k one i'm just going to find we'll see what if the 1080p clip here will run there you can see sometimes the mouse point is getting a little bit of stutters now and then so let's have a look and see if it can run this an mkv file everything you know high definition foul and more extras than you've ever experienced before hd dvd proven more simpler than before okay so 1080p clip mkv that does work i'm going to be pushing it here trying a 2k1 let's see what happens it's working but i think i've just completely locked it up no it looks like that's just too much for the the quad core it's not going to run a 2k clip there so you're best to stick to 1080p or 720p anything 1080p and under i think would be fine but no definitely not 2k 4k not going to run that at all i'm going to have to turn it off now and turn it back on again because i think i have completely lost it it's gone it's gone yeah it's completely frozen up on me okay so it's back online now here took around about a minute or so to boot up here and give me the custom launcher see if now a little bit of youtube's going to work had to update the application and we'll see how that runs okay we'll try a test clip here so in full screen it looks alright and it's running fine let's see if i can adjust the quality oh no the application doesn't let me so i'm stuck with whatever quality that is looks to be maybe 480p or something it's definitely watchable so if you're on the tv and you're watching it from a distance that would probably look alright okay get rid of it all right i can't seem to scroll that's right i'm going to push the mouse down so it seems a little bit of lag there let's have a look at the suicide squad trailer it's checking some work but i finally haven't the worst is the worst okay so youtube i think is is fine this definitely looks a lot better quality okay so that is working just fine things like youtube netflix it's not gonna be too much of an issue but it yeah it does seem to get bogged down a little bit i just noticed it moving around sometimes it's not the fastest there and i'll just go back into cpu z here and have a look to get a few details here so you can see that it is quad core cpu and it can clock up to two or up to 1.54 gigahertz there we do have a melee 450 which used to be not a bad gpu back in the day it's a couple of years old now i'm all three years old or so so a little bit dated there nice adverts just popped up and according to this it's gotten up to 72 degrees just for me using this if i actually touch the device here it is quite warm so it looks like it is getting quite hot there the wonderful if that will have an effect on the performance of it if it starts to throttle if it gets too hot there okay so that's a quick look there at the the mobi cube tv stick thanks for watching and overall that scene was reasonable for the price i mean there are other options out there but it does seem a little bit slow at times and you do need to bear in mind that this is basically just set up for watching movies streaming so netflix and youtube that's really what it's aimed at not any kind of gaming or serious web browser anything like that thank you for watching and i'll hopefully see you in my next video bye for nowhi chris from tech tablets here with something new today this is the mobi q tv stick so it's one of those sticks that you can just put into your tv it runs android and it'll basically turn
