**The Charger: A Muscle-y Family Car with a Rich History**
The new Charger was back in town, just like the original, and it's a muscle-y family car that can be specked for any driver. The base Charger came equipped with a humble but bulletproof 3.5L V6 engine.
**The Return of the R/T Package**
The R/T package was also back, powered by a 5.7 L hemi engine. Dodge even made a Daytona package to commemorate the original Daytona pointy boy. They went all out connecting this new Charger to its past, and they had something in the works for even more bite for big-time Charger fans.
**The Charger SRT8: A Force to Be Reckoned With**
The Charger SRT8 made other four-door sedans run for cover, powered by a 6.1 L hemi V8 engine that left 428 HP and 470 lb-ft of torque, good for zero to 60 in five seconds. It was the most powerful V8 Chrysler had ever put in a production car.
**No Huge Changes Through the Mid-2000s**
Dodge didn't make any huge changes to the Charger through the mid-2000s because customers liked the Charger a lot. Between 2005 and 2010, Dodge sold over half a million of these burly boy sedans.
**A Complete Redesign for the 2011 Model Year**
The Charger got a complete redesign for the 2011 model year, which improved on pretty much everything. The body was sleeker and lower-profile than the previous gen, featuring scalloped bodywork on the hood and doors, and a return to the full-width tail light in the back.
**All the Performance Packs Were Back**
You had the R/T, the SRT8, and a Super Bee. In 2012, Dodge even teased a Viper V10-powered six-speed manual Charger at SEMA called the Charger Juiced. Unfortunately, it never went into production but was a hint that an even more powerful, maybe more evil, Charger was coming.
**The New Charger for the 2015 Model Year**
In 2014, Dodge unveiled a new Charger for the 2015 model year. It was completely refreshed, sporting a totally new look, but this Charger had a 707 horsepower secret living under the hood. Dodge called it the SRT Charger Hellcat.
**A Sedan That Could Do a Quarter-Mile in 11 Seconds**
This was a sedan that could do a quarter-mile in 11 seconds and Dodge claimed it had a top speed of 204 miles per hour. The Charger was both the fastest and meanest-looking sedan in the world.
**The Best Road Trip Car Ever**
Dodge let us borrow one last year, and it's probably the best road trip car ever. And the Charger's still going strong today with no signs of letting up.
**There's a Ton of Them**
There's literally a Charger for every driver. You got the Charger SXT with a 3.6 L Pentastar V6 available with advanced all-wheel drive with front axle disconnect.
**The 2020 Charger R/T**
Don't forget the 2020 Charger R/T with its 370 HP PR hemi V8, electronically controlled exhaust, performance hood and fascias, and great performance seats.
**The Charger R/T Scat Pack**
The Charger R/T Scat Pack is equipped with a dual inlet, performance grille feeding a 485 horsepower, 6.4 L hemi engine, equipped with electronically controlled exhaust Brembo, four-piston brakes, which you're gonna need because this is the most horsepower you can get for under $40,000.
**The Charger SRT Hellcat**
And of course, the big daddy of them all, the Charger SRT Hellcat is returning for 2020. It now comes standard with the wide-body package, complete with the mail slot opening performance grille, that delicious 707 HP PR, 6.2 L supercharged Hellcat V8 capable of 196 miles per hour and six-piston Brembos.
**A Name That Means Something**
So many features, so little time. You know, I heard he got struck by lightning and then he just knew everything about every car. From big bruiser Coke bottle muscle cars to turbocharged Econoboxes to the current four-door 196 mph sedan, there really is a Charger for everybody, and that's why it's been around for so long in so many different forms.
