A 700HP Saturn Sky is Hilariously Dumb

The 2JZ Saturn Sky is a car that has caught my attention with its unique features. One of the most striking aspects of this vehicle is the giant smile up front, which is integrated into the grill. This distinctive design element gives the car a bold and aggressive look that sets it apart from other vehicles on the road.

As I take a closer look at the car, I notice that it has a straight pipe exhaust system all the way to the back. This feature not only adds to the car's aesthetic appeal but also provides a unique sound experience. The car produces a beautiful Jay-Z harmonic sound, which is both mesmerizing and music-like. This feature makes me appreciate the attention to detail that Paul, the owner of this car, has put into customizing his vehicle.

I'm excited to get behind the wheel of this 2JZ Saturn Sky and experience its performance firsthand. As I start the engine, I notice that it's paired with a transmission that's both unique and impressive. The transmission is not from an old Supra or 350z, but rather something more modern. Paul tells me that he had to do some modifications to get this particular transmission working properly.

As I put the car into gear and start accelerating, I'm struck by its responsiveness and agility. The car's gearing seems to be tailored specifically for performance, allowing it to accelerate smoothly and quickly. This is particularly noticeable when shifting between gears, as the car seems to "reel" through each stage with ease. It's clear that Paul has spent a lot of time fine-tuning this transmission to get the best possible performance out of his vehicle.

One feature that catches my eye is the two digital gauges that have been installed in place of the traditional dashboard gauges. These digital displays provide a modern and high-tech look, adding to the overall aesthetic appeal of the car. Paul tells me that he's had to modify the underlying electronics to make this work, but it was worth the effort.

As I continue to explore the car, I notice that it runs on Pro EFI, a standalone system that's been modified to suit Paul's needs. This is an outdated technology by today's standards, but Paul has managed to make it work. He's clearly spent a lot of time and effort into getting this system up and running smoothly.

Despite its advanced technology, the car still retains many characteristics that are reminiscent of classic Supras. The interior design and materials are reminiscent of older models, while the exterior design is sleek and modern. This blend of old and new creates a unique and compelling driving experience that's unlike anything else on the road.

One feature that stands out to me is the presence of a T-Rexing window switch. While this might seem like an unusual feature at first glance, it adds a touch of whimsy and personality to the car's design. The tiny goblet-shaped accessory on the dashboard is also a unique touch, adding to the overall sense of individuality that Paul has brought to his vehicle.

As I take a break from driving the car, I'm struck by its impressive fiberglass work. The big flares that have been added to the front and rear of the car give it a distinctive look that sets it apart from other vehicles on the road. This custom work was done by Norm or Norm's Fiberglass, who has clearly put a lot of effort into creating this unique design.

Paul tells me that he considered installing a Corvette engine in his Saturn Sky at one point, but ultimately decided to stick with the 2JZ Toyota Supra engine instead. I'm glad he did, as the 2JZ provides a smooth and responsive driving experience that's hard to match.

As we continue to drive through the city, I notice that the car is surprisingly comfortable to ride in. The seats are surprisingly plush and supportive, despite being from GM. This is a testament to Paul's attention to detail and commitment to creating a comfortable driving experience.

The three-spoke steering wheel is also worth mentioning. While it might seem like an unusual choice, it provides a unique and tactile driving experience that's hard to match with modern power-assisted steering systems. I appreciate the simplicity and directness of this design element, which allows me to connect more intimately with the car.

One feature that's particularly impressive is the BC-based coilovers, which have been modified by ZZ Performance to suit Paul's needs. These coilovers provide a level of control and precision that's hard to match with other aftermarket suspension systems. It's clear that ZZ Performance has a deep understanding of the Ecotech platform, and has used this knowledge to create a customized suspension system that works perfectly for this car.

As I come to the end of my time in this 2JZ Saturn Sky, I'm struck by its sheer joyfulness. This is a car that's been designed with performance and driving pleasure at its core, and it shows in every aspect of its design and operation. From its bold exterior design to its comfortable interior, this car has everything a driver could want.

I want to thank Paul for letting me drive his incredible Saturn Sky. It's clear that he's spent a lot of time and effort into customizing his vehicle, and the results are well worth it. This is a car that truly stands out from the crowd, and I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to experience its unique driving experience firsthand.

As I walk away from this incredible car, I'm struck by the sense of wonder and excitement that it inspires. The 2JZ Saturn Sky is more than just a vehicle - it's an experience that combines performance, design, and driving pleasure in a way that's hard to match anywhere else on the road.

this time so the Saturn Sky SL ponti x/ opal GT was a short wheelbase sports car made by General Motors as kind of a last ditch effort to save Pontiac Saturn and you might know the solstice from Transformers back in 2007 stuff like that and people who owned the soul sits in the sky tend to really love them I've noticed that over the years that everyone who's had one has been like man I shouldn't have sold that I will say right off the bat I like the interior a little bit more of the Saturn Sky than I do of the Pontiac Solstice the solstice feels kind of cheap inside and don't me wrong this is a you know 2000s GM interior but it is what it is this has a 2JZ from the markv Toyota Supra inside the Saturn Sky here's the exhaust they put on their exhaust to leave the neighborhood to mute it some just laying down in the corner this originally came with a 4-cylinder Ecotech engine from ddle Motors uh there was a naturally aspirated version and a turbo version version which was the Saturn sky red line and also the Pontiac solsis GXP which is now kind of a collector car you really don't see those anymore Paul who owned this car has been super cool I met him at gridlife South and for years we said we need to do a video on your car he was such a cool dude that he had a timing issue on this engine and then decided to fix it and make it to today's review so this actually has fender flares made for the opal GT and they're all the way from Germany which is really cool the top as well took years and years to get this hard top is not Factory but it looks phenomenal this Fastback look I absolutely adore on the sky but this car usually is a convertible most of the time but yeah this was one of Saturn's last stands and then Saturn was no more the Saturn Community is such an interesting Community cuz they always mix and match things they'll turbo engines they never should have so the car makes somewhere between 6 and 700 horsepower in this tiny little Saturn and it's never been dyed so he said it's probably up to 700 horsepower it's very tight in here the windshield is small the rear windshield is very small very Viper that's something I did not expect the Viper is always very tight inside this also is a trimic t-56 transmission something you find in Mustangs Camaros Shel GT500 Viper but this car has been a battle for years and years and years and he finally made it happen oh my God this thing's fast oh my God this thing's fast so it's got a Bor Warner single turbo strapped onto the 2J and it is pretty laggy it's a big turbo but man when it reels into Power this thing freaking rips it also has a Mustang rear end in it because well he uh the stock one left the chat it completely blew apart and he ended up using a Mustang 331 rear end instead and it really stretches out the gears for a really long experience but it gives you Traction in return yeah it really stretches out the gears to where you can just focus on driving and as the Boost kicks in you just go along for the ride however that does mean you're not doing as much shifting you're just pulling forever and that's actually what makes it kind of scary in the other way also the color is absolutely gorgeous it looks amazing in the sun I'm so glad he went with a bright color not something boring like silver or black it also has 1314 Mustang GT hoods that's amazing this makes it feel like this platform is super slept on because even though it has this short wheel base this thing hooked up in W this car has a giant smile up front in the grill and I see why now it also has a straight pipe exhaust all the way to the back so you get the beautiful Jay-Z harmonic sound the entire time insane this thing's insane this is actually my first time driving this transmission made it to a 2JZ and it really feels at home usually you had to use like the R1 154s the cd9 which are from old Supras or 350zs if you don't know and it just really really helps out he also has two digital gauges in place of where the old gauges were and this actually runs on Pro EFI a standalone that it's kind of outdated nowadays not a lot of people tune on them but he made it work dude he is so fast I'm just going along for the ride and have an amazing time I totally get why Paul has fought this thing to the death for years I totally get it this feels like a Supra with half the weight and that was first gear roll on first gear into second gear reeling second all the way out man this thing rocks dude it feels really natural and as he said it's not a cornering car anymore it's too nose heavy oh my God this car is so much fun oh my God it just works it did something good good for one dude I hate the t- rexing window switch you're like right hand left side oh that oh come on imagine being the engineer being like wait a minute that's Paul the owner of the car and the tiny little goblet over there he's actually never seen his car in the outside do this which is really neat that's so much fun all right that's a good Saturn that's a good Saturn you're not Neptune you're not Uranus you're Saturn in freaking insane man but what's really interesting is that the dip is actually from a V6 Mustang it's not even the beier Mustang from the busting GT or Shel or anything like that it's a it's the dip that's just been working all along and the gearing for this really works because due to the short wheelbase and how diry it probably would be with a shorter gear ratio it kind of gives you the mental preparation to get ready for the ride and it gives you the preparation to reel this thing out so I think the combination of the trimming transmission gearing and the rear and gearing really really helps this car out um at the same time uh if you're going into third gear you're going to the absolute Moon so all the fiberglass work is done by Norm or Norms fiberglass and that's what really gives this Sky a whole different look right it has big flares on it it looks really fantastic and it really does make it stick out from the rest the sky is just not a platform you see a lot of people use and Paul thought about L last swapping it you know Corvette engine he thought about doing that but a lot of people had already kind of thought about or done that he's like you know what let's put the freaking Toyota Supra engine in the sky and just see what happens yeah this thing it gets hot in here though I can tell you that much but cooling tips are good right now we're at 187 honestly these seats are surprisingly comfortable as well I was actually shocked cuz you know GM isn't known good seats especially in the Corvettes of this era and yeah these feel a little more premium than that which is pretty funny I also do like the three-spoke steering wheel that they're rocking I kind of went into this video thinking oh it's going to be super unbalanced it's going to Dart all over the road this also has BC based coilovers helped out by ZZ performance ZZ performance or zzp I'm really good friends with I love those guys they are specialists in the Ecotech platform which means they're usually specialists in the chassis of the ego Tech platform they're able to help Paul out with some modified coilovers and they made it work yeah I don't want to give this car back I've had a really good time in this really don't want to give it back but thank you Paul for the hospitality so much man I've had an amazing time all right 2JZ Saturn Sky one of my favorite 2JZ swaps I've ever driven like not by this was awesome I've waited years to do this one but Paul over and over again would say hey man something went wrong I'm sorry and two days ago he said something went wrong I'm sorry and he fixed it he fixed it in 2 days and made it happen and that I have Paul to thank for giving me this amazing experience and uh putting in the hustle and on that note I upload on Tuesdays Thursdays and Sundays and I will see you guys next time dig it easy have a wonderful day goodbyeHow
