things that i recommend but then there are those purchases that just make you so mad you spent your money and that's what we're talking about today we are going to be talking about tech that i bought that i completely regret purchasing now some of you might remember your savage consumer where i just kind of went in on certain tech products i don't know why they were listen we're not going to go that far but we are going to talk about why some of these tech products just suck or require some real consideration before purchasing so the first thing that we've got is this guy right here here we have the hyper x clutch so first let's talk about what this thing is as you can see it looks like a gaming controller now you'll put your smartphone inside of here and then boom you know you can play your games you got your handles this thing even has some really cool features like being able to wirelessly charge your phone while you're playing your game so when i read the description on amazon i was like oh this sounds awesome this sounds amazing you can even remove the back so that you can go ahead and use it as like a portable charger i think it has like 1800 milliamp hours you can even wirelessly charge the entire thing so it just sounds really really cool on paper i love playing mobile games i was like this is an instant buy why why not it cost 60 bucks so i was like okay i've never seen something like this before it's still pretty cool i'm pulling the trigger right then i buy it and then i realize wait a minute all of my mobile games are pretty much in portrait mode not gonna work like this and i can't play with one like it just doesn't work out so what do i look like trying to play my mobile games with this big thing in the way it just doesn't make sense even if i wanted to take advantage of the wireless charging it doesn't work out now this could be really cool if you are like a fortnight go hard pub g go hard so after i got it i was like all right let me find something to play with this i had like one game this final fantasy tactics game that i usually play and that doesn't justify actually purchasing this thing so i completely regretted it this is this is honestly like 60 bucks down the drain if they came out with one that kind of works in portrait mode that'd be kind of dope i'd like that i'd be interested but as of right now this ain't it now don't get me wrong hyperx makes some really good products which is why i was able to pull the trigger on this so quickly it's actually pretty similar to what i have here for the nintendo switch which i actually use on a daily basis so it was very similar it's like all right cool same experience kind of thing but the use cases for this just it just wasn't there for me but wait am i crazy do a bunch of you out there play landscape games a lot let me just know if i'm the crazy one here and you'd really enjoy something like this now let's move on to something else that i've actually been using for years and i completely regret the decision now so what we have over here is you know the work area the gaming computer section down here in the man cave but you see the light that is around the desk we've all seen these led lights tech youtubers have been talking about them for years now the particular brand that i'm using here is lifx you've heard of lifx i'm sure we all heard of lifx phillips hue but let me tell you something about lifx guys they've been the bane of my existence for a long time now they're absolutely great products i think it looks really cool you can do little effects that make it look awesome it gets bright has all the colors you'd want awesome until you want it to work that's when we've got some issues guys i don't know how many times lifx products have just stopped working because of some kind of wi-fi connection it is the most infuriating thing now i put in a lot of work to sync all of the lights and everything in this man cave together so that i can give one command turn them all on turn them all off but those never go off let me give it a shot turn off man cave see what i'm talking about so as you guys can see the lifx bulbs and strips my experience with them so far after all these years is that they work when they want to if i go into the app right now let me let me pull up let me get my phone pull out the app now let me be clear i am not saying they never work i'm saying they choose when they want to work a lot of times it requires me unplugging it and plugging it back in to get that wi-fi connection it's just a pretty bad experience aria and i have two lifx bulbs in our master bedroom on each of our bedsides and we talked to alexa like turn off aries bed light alexa says it can't connect that is usually the case and let me show you the app like i said so as you can see ahri's bed light is crossed out because it has no connection right now i think we reset my bed light right that's my bed light over there jay yes okay so my bed light is over there for some b-roll whatever anyway it picks and chooses the nursery light i'm surprised i see the option to turn it on and off right now because that's been another one that's just never working nursery tour coming soon keep your eye out for that it's dope so after all these years of recommending lifx because they do have awesome products i think it's going to be a little bit harder for me to recommend them moving forward because of how inconsistent it is it's been my biggest regret i wish i kind of just stuck with phillips hugh phillips hue has a bridge that's required to kind of keep everything synced and working these kind of work stand alone they work by themselves you don't need any bridge that's what was so cool but if you're unreliable you're pretty much useless now the next thing we're going to talk about is this guy over here so what we've got is the apple battery case this is the official case it's a little thick that's okay you get extra battery life lots of extra battery life and with a phone like the iphone 11 pro max which has amazing battery life you think throwing one of these on you're you're good but i've had some really really bad run-ins with these apple battery cases i think we actually started with the iphone 10s we bought the battery cases we were hyped and then we noticed me and aaron both noticed that our phone started acting a little bit weird i actually had my previous iphone which was the 10s max the whole front screen completely wiped out black the digitizer was messed up or something it just did not turn on anymore and this happened while we were actually in hawaii so you can imagine my frustration being out in hawaii and losing my screen that is not something that's ever happened i've never run into issues like that before we took a chance buying the new battery case because it has like cool features where it has like this cool little button you can see the battery indicator right from the phone it's all synced up it works well together until it doesn't my iphone 11 pro max over here as soon as i started using the case weird things started happening it just didn't work well the battery this thing ended up having trouble holding a charge i believe you just expect apple products to just work and just not really have any issues this is like the only product where that has not been my experience this one was a tough pill to swallow because i like the idea of having almost unlimited battery life with my phone a big disappointment now over here is another case now we won't spend too much time on this guy but this is a cool case that i think somebody put me on to friend matt he told me to pick this up it's a cool idea look at it you put your iphone inside right and you have access to your airpods that's dope right but the site that i bought it from which i will not name actually took my phone number and started spamming me i don't listen it was instant regret after i put in my credit card information i was like oh no that what did you do to me man so that was a really really horrible experience now they do sell these on amazon if you want so you don't have to go through the shady stuff that i did just to get my hands on one of these but i wouldn't recommend it anyway because while it is cool to have your air pods right next to your iphone these cases are not high quality by any means whatsoever unfortunately you can't charge them while they're inside of this little holder they basically just hold the earbuds no charging or anything like that so if they die on you you still got to go and use your regular case to charge them up so that's what kind of sucks with these they're just like why why'd i do this it looked cool but was it worth the risk no it wasn't now the next thing i got to show you guys is actually upstairs and guys welcome back to my kitchen for those of you who saw the kitchen tour how we kind of teched it out and added a bunch of cool stuff this might look familiar remember that amazing garbage can that we have where it works with voice commands and everything awesome awesome stuff all you have to say is open can and boom you see how that worked i haven't been able to do that for months i don't even know why it just did that either way guys my problem with this is that it is extremely inconsistent open can wow it's making me look like a liar you see i have no expectation of this thing working right not at all but i always give it a shot anyway i walk up to the trash can to throw something out and you'll hear me say open can open can inconsistent very inconsistent so i walk up to it every time saying open can just to see if it'll do it and you never know what you're gonna get for months i haven't been able to get anything so i've done all the things that i'm supposed to like change the batteries i even use the plug that it comes with to ensure that it has the power to turn on and none of that has worked consistently we've also had the issue of it hearing just random speech and thinking we say open can and then oh see didn't do it that's the problem but it'll hear random things thinking we said open canon they'll just pop open it's like some kind of ghost activity it's just it just hasn't been a good experience not to mention this thing is well over 200 dollars you guys it's a nice trash can don't get me wrong if it works consistently i would almost say it's worth it it's awesome it's an awesome feature awesome garbage can but it is so inconsistent open can see open can you never know that's what sucks now the last thing i'm going to show you guys is actually outside all right guys so right now we are in jay's car and we've got this guy over here this is the garmin speak plus and it seems trash it's so bad i don't like this thing at all this was actually supposed to make it into a video that we were shooting how long ago jay like a year ago over a year ago it did not work well couldn't recommend it didn't make it into a video and it was 150 bucks i was so mad so mad that i spent the money on this thing the reason why we couldn't return it so this is dash cam first and foremost and you hook it up to your car windshield of course now you have the base over here this base has not been able to come off of jay's windshield ever since we tried it over a year ago that base has just been sitting there so it couldn't return because of the missing pieces that thing has just been stuck there i was just kind of salty that i wasted 150 bucks so not only is the base just like a permanent fixture which is not something you want on your car windshield hard off my car i don't even like that would piss me off dude i'm so glad you're mad about it least that i know of what also sucks is the fact that this thing the idea behind it is that you're supposed to be able to use it it's garmin so it's got gps you're supposed to be able to use it to navigate so instead of having like your phone in front of you with the gps going you got like your simple instructions right here but it's like a really tiny screen you don't want to take your focus away that much on the road so having like a really small screen giving you directions not really the way to go but it does have alexa built into it so you can connect to amazon ask it to play music commands all that kind of stuff it uses bluetooth to connect to your phone to do that and then you have to use an aux i believe it's using bluetooth it uses bluetooth to your phone but then you need an aux port you have an aux port over here to connect it to the car listen jay this is it just ain't great man there's a lot of stuff you got to do to make this thing work not to mention the app for this thing is atrocious let's see can we get it to connect to the feed right now anyway a lot of the times when you want to access old footage or you want to go into like those little features it just takes way way too long it is not how i would want to spend 150 bucks uh this one has just been a sore spot for me because i just feel like i completely wasted my money here i kind of messed up jay's car at the same time if you had your eye on it or something your average consumer is here to tell you look at something else this is not the way to go but i think that wraps it up for this video you guys have gotten a little insight into things that
