We're at the Frankfurt Motor Show and behind me is the Mercedes-Benz Hall, just a whole hall so we thought we're going to have a bit of a look around, going to go have a look. First up, we've got Smart obviously in here and I think their concept's somewhere just over here, quite cool, all very open sort of urban living, it's called the For Joy old name anyway.
More interesting stuff up this way, this is the SLS that won the Nürburgring 24-hour race, still obviously caked in dirt, it looks really cool. The Black Falcon car should have said John Edwards' name on the top of it and then this is the Mercedes bit, and it is vast. Right, we're going to work our way from the top down, starting with the world's longest escalator; I don't actually know if it's the world's longest escalator by the way, I'm just not sure, it looks like an escalator near there, watch out CLA over here a class over here, more interesting stuffs over this way though.
So, this is the new GLA as you can see, it's a fairly sort of low-riding SUV, sort of rival, I suppose almost for the CX 17; it's not particularly either though. Let's keep going, these are all Mercedes electric cars, cars which you've obviously seen before but I do love how they've annexed the whole electric blue accenting theme, does look really really cool. I love some of the random exhibits you get here, this is just a little design stud that they've done; it just looks, it looks really cool.
More here we have the world premiere of Mercedes new 9-speed automatic torque converter transmission n speeds massage seats; this is the S-Class intelligent drive. Now, I was here at the launch of this car on the Monday evening, and it drove in with a boss of Mercedes sitting in the back and nobody's sitting where I am in the driver's seat, slightly scary obviously from the Evo point of view because well, the thrill of driving, the thrill of not being driven but this is the first time we've seen sort of autonomous cars before.
But this was the first time I think everybody in the room actually thought that's actually reality that will actually happen; it's incredibly clever. They did 100 km drive on actual open public roads obviously somebody sitting here with a big red button um able to stop it if necessary but yeah, it looks like this technology will actually make it to the road probably by the end of the decade I'd say.
And finally, we have this; the rather elegant and extremely luxurious S-Class coupe concept that's Mercedes-Benz at Frankfurt.
