Transforming Our Kitchen: A Journey of Renovation and Self-Expression

We found a really inexpensive pedestal table that has a beautiful glossy white base, which totally transformed the space. The light in our kitchen was not just about lighting, but also about the overall aesthetic we wanted to achieve. We sold this table for $1,800, but now it's part of our new breakfast nook. The label on this pedestal table is still visible, a reminder that we've come a long way since purchasing it.

Our chairs were another area where we needed some change. I know you like these shoes, and I think they're cool too, but they're just not the right fit for our space. We took them out, and now we have beautiful vintage Danish teak chairs that are super sleek. They look nice and cozy, and completely transformed the feel of our kitchen.

We also wanted to make our breakfast nook feel a little bit more airy. The white tile in the breakfast nook is beautiful, but it was missing something. We decided to replace our old DIY art with some new pieces that would add some visual interest to the space. I thought it might be nice to change up the symmetry a little bit and you like a sunburst mirror and then the phases of the Moon as DIY. It looks so cool! The Sun and the moon are what I feel like I'm – the Sun is all-powerful, and Kate's got this lunar vibe going on.

We wanted our kitchen to feel clean and minimalist, but still have some personality. We chose a natural fiber rug because we have a lot of style in this house, and this jute rug is perfect. It feels so good underfoot. I really wanted to go with a natural fiber, and this rug is just the right fit.

One of our finishing touches on the countertop was bringing in a nice white base that's holding gold kitchen utensils. We changed out our old stainless steel toaster for a white toaster, which now matches our other appliances. That's it – no more clutter on the countertops! Just a beautiful fruit bowl made of glazed grey clay and some ivory white marble cutting board that we found. It adds just the right touch to our space.

Our dish towels are also super important. We have them in various colors and patterns, but they're all part of our overall color palette. And finally, we added some flowers to finish off this kitchen renovation. It's like my dream kitchen – we put so much work into it, and I'm really proud of the choice we made. I think we stayed true to the vintage quality of our home, with its beautiful moments that you see throughout the house.

As we sit here in our newly renovated kitchen, surrounded by the beauty we've created, we can't help but feel grateful for this journey. We've been in this house for three years now, and it's amazing to see how far we've come. We've transformed this space without spending a lot of money, and it looks incredible – like something out of our hotel spa dreams or off my Pinterest board.

But our kitchen renovation is just the beginning. We still have big plans for the outside of the house, including redoing the garage and maybe even adding some home gym vibes. this renovation oh that's Yeah right so like DIY aren't all about the fluidity of our relationship we flow together we work together with know either do small for me you look sad indeed I don't understand what we're doing anyway we're gonna pour drops of paint on the paper and then just like I'm moving around what's the glass work take my hand pour like it drops don't drizzle it that's good now doing here now that's our walk lorry yeah that's good gonna be a lot of paint are you doing more white because it's gonna be beautiful because of light yeah so that one's gonna be really runny and now a little oil base so it'll be interesting to see but yeah do some like little dollops back boom okay great great great great so now let's pick it up together or fluidly letting the paint all of our color palette move in together and slow and together just like me and Joey go through the clip the goal doing it's like because it's oil-based it's eating up there it looks like marble this would be a cool wallpaper not totally blending to change the color more so creates like a marbled effect so we're both celebrating that Calcutta marble that we have on the countertops and also bringing in all of the colors that are in the room I wish the gold looks more like gold and less like chocolate looks like a melted sundae melted something delicious kind of like our relationship really we're just kind of like messy fluid people and you just see where it all takes us we're just gonna lay this out to dry so that it really hardens because obviously the paint's pretty thick and agreement in a nice black frame with a white matte and the black will bring in the block from our faucets and the sink and it's just all gonna work together with our color palette I love this addition it's like the most luxurious pupu palace a pet has ever had I know you got a new bathroom and fill it in a kidney yeah so one of the cool projects in this kitchen and we're super excited about this were crazy cat people is our poo poo palace that we're building for the cat so we are upgrading the fact that these are facades is so great it's just so much easier to clean up around the litter and everything we have the tile all the way under there we can't open the cabinet doors we're going to install these fake toe kicks okay it should look more like a real cabinet and will also help with the smell no way so we're not ready for you but isn't this great this is an ultimate cat master bathroom this is like cribs for cats guys okay do you go down you got a work for your people room you it's the word unless unless the worst Foreman who yells at us the whole time take what's in another room so he does have to listen to the wild soul Winston there can wheel outside you go to get out somewhere and then come take a little later okay so now we got to install on the back of the door can we take a moment to just appreciate the fact that we put a vent in here all we did was take a laundry revenge is the standard vendor you can pick up at any hardware store there's ventilation go into the outside from within the palace it's not stripping I'm telling you their goals are to you back back back back so Joey found these thumbs and it's perfect because you stick the pump down into the big jug and then we're running at the rubber cord back behind the cabinet so it's completely concealed and it's going into this smaller spicket that's right next to our bigger profit and we just turn it on and it pumps the mineral water right out of the sink it's amazing the other thing we're doing today is finishing this to the laundry room we are moving the laundry room into the hall closet because before we have the stacked washer and dryer in the kitchen so now we move the laundry to the hallway closet we put them side-by-side and put a countertop on top we're putting the shaker wall cabinets white with the same gold handles that's perfect I found a really inexpensive pedestal table and has a nice little moment to place the spoons on their dirty tap salt and pepper shakers okay so just very minimal accessories and it just cleans them in just on the back of our vintage stove it looks so cute dish towels are really important you know and have on hand flowers to finish off this is like my dream kitchen we put so much work into it I'm really proud of the choice that we made I think we stayed true to the vintage quality of house those beautiful moments that you see throughout the house the archways the hexagon shape tiles in the old bathroom etc here's to our new years to a couple
