Can The Radeon R7 260X Still Game

Performance Testing with an RX 5600 XT and R7 2600 Card

I'm going to start off by saying that I hope you guys can forgive the more relaxed vibe of this video, as I am going on holiday for a few days at the end of the week and I don't really feel too great at the moment either. Instead of preparing a script, I thought I'd just throw some gameplay results up on screen here for us to look at and discuss the performance of each game when being played on a card like this. Now that we have our RX 5600 XT paired with a R7 2600, I wanted to make sure that we're not holding this GPU back whatsoever.

Starting off with Overwatch, I am using a mixture of settings, including medium, high, and ultra. The game is solidly performing at 60 frames per second with a few drops below at times. I am playing a bot match here, but the statistics and figures were taken from an online game to get a more accurate representation. When we jump into Far Cry 5 again, you can see that the GPU is maxing out at 99 to 100% usage here, and our CPU isn't really doing much work with the normal preset at 1080p. The game is averaging around 32 frames per second, although we are on normal settings here. Turning things down to low doesn't make too much of a difference, as you can see. We're still seeing drops into the high 20s.

I also experimented with leaving anti-aliasing off and turning it on, which didn't really improve our performance in this game. There were three options available, but no matter which one I chose, the framerate didn't really change. You may see a few extra frames, but it doesn't make a significant difference here. When we turn everything down to low as well, we're still seeing drops into the high 20s, so it's clear that this game is not optimized for our GPU.

I recently got back into Just Cause 3, and I have a lot of fun playing this game just exploring the world. For this benchmark, I decided to replay the opening mission which is quite demanding as there is quite a bit going on on screen. When we reach 38 frames per second with low settings here, and you can see that the GPU is operating at 99 to 100% usage again, it's clear that this game is being made the most out of our RX 5600 XT when paired with our R7 2600. You can expect the frames to fluctuate anywhere from 30 frames per second to 45 frames per second depending on your location in the game, and you will see some drops below 30 as well on occasion.

Mafia 3 was a game that was very demanding when it first came out, and I saw many cases where cards like the GTX 1060 and 1070 were struggling to maintain over 30 or 40 frames per second due to various performance issues. Thankfully, since release this game has been vastly improved with updates as well as graphics card driver updates, and I'm happy to report that on low settings at 1080p, the game does average 30 frames per second, which is a far cry from how it performed upon release.

Finally, I'm happy to put Watchdogs 2 back on this list, really did miss exploring San Francisco in this game. When we jump into Watchdogs 2 again, running with medium settings at 35 frames per second, which is a much improved performance compared to when the game was first released. The gameplay was acceptable with 30 to 40 frames per second though, as you may have seen on screen there will be a few dips below that number as we move into busier areas of the city.

That concludes today's GPU benchmark test video guys. I hope you've enjoyed it and I hope this gives you some insight into whether or not an R7 5600 XT graphics card is right for you in 2018.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhello everyone and welcome to another video now back in 2013 AMD launched the Radeon r7 260x this was a budget orientated GPU and a 139 dollars it traded blows with the gtx 750ti a very popular choice from nvidia today I thought we'd look at the r7 260x is performance with a few modern games now I hope you guys can forgive the more relaxed vibe of this video I am going on holiday for a few days at the end of the week and I don't really feel too great at the moment either so I thought I'd do instead of preparing a script reading through it I thought I'd just throw some gameplay results up on screen here for us to look at and I'm going to be talking about the performance of each game when being played on a card like this now I've paired the r7 260x with a Rison 5 to make the most out of this GPU and ensure that we're not holding this card back whatsoever starting off with overwatch here and I am using a mixture of settings a few medium a few high and a few ultra and the game is solidly performing at 60 frames per second with a few drops below at times I am playing a bot match here but the statistics and figures were taken from an online game firing up the most modern of today's tested titles and I jumped straight into Far Cry 5 again you can see the GPU is maxing out at 99 to 100% usage here and our CPU isn't really doing much work with the normal preset at 1080p the game is averaging around 32 frames per second now although we are on normal here turning things down to low really doesn't make too much difference and the same applies as to whether or not I leave anti-aliasing on or turn it off there are three options and no matter which one you choose in this game the framerate doesn't really improve you may see two to three extra frames but it doesn't really help us out here when the game frequently drops below 30fps now I did turn things all the way down to low as well and again we were seeing drops into the high 20s but bear in mind that you could probably do with turning the resolution down if you want a more playable experience with this game on this card I've recently got back into Just Cause 3 as well I have a lot of fun on this game just exploring the world and for this benchmark I decided to replay the opening mission which is quite demanding as there is quite a bit going on on screen now we have reached 38 frames per second with the low settings here and as you can see once again the GPU is operating at 99 to 100% usage and it is being made the most out of here when paired with our rising 5 you can expect the frames to fluctuate anywhere from 30 frames per second to 45 frames per second depending on your location in the game and you will see some drops below 30 as well on occasion especially if there is a lot of explosions on-screen -
