August Book Haul
**Haley’s Mid-August Book Haul: A Dive into Her Latest Reads**
Hello, everyone! It’s Haley, and today I’m excited to share my mid-August book haul—otherwise known as my “holy should I have a problem” book haul. As you know, I usually do my book hauls at the end of the month, but with so many books already in my collection, I decided to do one early this time. Plus, I’m planning to go on a strict book buying ban in September, so this is my last chance for a while! Let’s dive into the details.
---
### What I’m Currently Reading
Before diving into the haul, let me quickly update you on what I’m reading right now. I’m absolutely loving *Clockwork Princess* by Cassandra Clare. This is the third and final book in the *Infernal Devices* trilogy, and it’s been nothing short of amazing. I’m already 200 pages in, and wow, that cover is stunning! If you haven’t checked out this series yet, trust me—you’re missing out.

### The Haul Begins
Now, onto the main event: my book haul! A few of these books technically arrived in July but didn’t make it into my July haul video. So, here they are!
#### Books from Book Depository
I got these two books from Book Depository using their 100-book discount for BookTubeathon—what a mouthful!
- **My Life Next Door** by Helen Lee Fitzpatrick
I haven’t read any Huntley Fitzpatrick novels before, even though I own one. This book is about a girl and her mother living a simple life while her neighbor has a crazy family. It sounds like a heartwarming story with some romance thrown in. I’ve heard great things about it, so I’m excited to see if the hype lives up to expectations.
- **Lola and the Boy Next Door** by Stephanie Perkins
This is the second book in the *Trilogy of Companions* that starts with *Anna and the French Kiss*. I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about this series, and they’re supposed to be adorable romances. Since I’m currently in the mood for some light-hearted romance, these books couldn’t have come at a better time!

#### Books from Amazon
Next up are some books I picked up on Amazon with a few bucks off.
- **Pivot Point** by KC West
I don’t know much about this one yet—it’s a bargain book that came signed! To be honest, getting a signed copy when I didn’t expect it was like hitting the jackpot. It’s on my shelf now, and I’m curious to dive into its mysteries.
- **Across the Universe** by Beth Revis
This one was specifically ordered for its iconic cover. The first book in the series, *Across the Universe*, has a stunning cover with a blue planet, and the second one, *A Million Suns*, is equally breathtaking. I’m not as into sci-fi as some of my friends, but this story sounds intriguing enough to give it a try.
- **Hush, Hush** by Becca Fitzpatrick
Lastly from Amazon is the first book in the *Hush, Hush* series. These books have been everywhere lately, and I’ve heard mixed reviews about them. Still, angels and forbidden romance sound like a fascinating combination, so I’m willing to give it a shot.

#### Books from Barnes & Noble
I also picked up three leather-bound classic editions from Barnes & Noble—perfect for my bookshelf!
- **Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass** by Lewis Carroll
I’ve already read *Through the Looking-Glass* for school last year, and it quickly became one of my favorite books. The illustrations in this edition are stunning, and the cover is so vibrant. Alice is back on my reading list!
- **Black Beauty** by Anna Sewell
This book holds a special place in my heart—I watched the movie as a kid and loved it. I’m excited to dive into the story of Black Beauty and his adventures.
- **Anne of Green Gables** by LM Montgomery
Lastly, I got this edition of *Anne of Green Gables*—no illustrations, but I’ve been meaning to read the book for ages. My mom loves it, so I can’t wait to share it with her and revisit the story that has captured hearts for generations.

#### Books from Chapters
Next up are a few books I picked up at Chapters during a recent trip.
- **Black City** by Elizabeth Richards
This was a steal—only $4 for this hardcover! The cover is stunning, and it’s part of a dystopian series. From what I gather, the story takes place after a brutal war with some romance involved. The covers alone make me want to read more.
- **Animal Farm** by George Orwell
I’ve been dying to dive into *Animal Farm* for ages—it’s an allegory about the Soviet revolution. Since I loved *1984*, I’m excited to see how Orwell tackles this shorter novel.
- **The Bell Jar** by Sylvia Plath
This one has been on my Goodreads TBR for a while. It’s about a young woman struggling with mental illness and her aspirations as a poet. I’ve heard incredible things about it, so I’m ready to dive in!
- **Oliver Twist and Great Expectations** by Charles Dickens
I haven’t read any of Dickens’ works yet, but these are classics that everyone should try at least once. I saw *Oliver Twist* as a play recently and loved it—now I want to experience the book version.
- **The Secret Garden** by Frances Hodgson Burnett
Lastly from Chapters is this edition of *The Secret Garden*. I’ve watched the movie countless times, so I’m excited to read the book that inspired it. The illustrations are beautiful, even if they’re not in color.

#### Books from Book Outlet
I scored some amazing deals at the Book Outlet!

Kendare Blake is the author of *Unaddressed in Blood*, and this book takes place in a Greek mythology-inspired world. Athena and Hermes are dying, and they’re on a quest to find out why. It sounds like an epic adventure!
- **Bright Young Things** by Anna Doherty
This one was $1.99 for the hardcover—what a steal! Set in the 1920s, it’s historical fiction with a touch of romance. I’ve heard amazing things about this book, and I’m ready to dive into its world.
- **A Little Princess** by Frances Hodgson Burnett
This is another gem from Burnett—I loved the movie as a kid, so I’m excited to read the book that started it all.
- **The Disenchantments** by Angust G. King
I’ve been hearing great things about this author’s work, and this book sounds like a mix of romance and magic. A girl gets trapped in an enchanted forest, and there’s something mysterious about the keeper who takes her—sounds intriguing!
- **Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore** by Robin Sloan
This one came from my love for quirky, magical realism stories. It’s about a bookstore with some supernatural elements, and I’m ready to lose myself in its pages.
- **Entwined** by Heather Dixon
The cover of this book is stunning—gorgeous! It’s a fairy tale-inspired story about a girl named Lia who leads a perfect life until it all falls apart. She meets the Keeper of an enchanted forest, and I’m dying to see how this unfolds.
- **Oliver Twist and Around the World in 80 Days** by Jules Verne
These graphic novel editions are so cool—I love how they bring these classics to life with illustrations. I plan to read the actual books too, but these are a great way to get back into reading them.
- **Frankenstein: assembled from the original text** by Mary Shelley
This is a massive graphic novel version of *Frankenstein*. It’s so big and beautifully illustrated that I almost want to save it for Halloween. But honestly, I can’t wait to dive into this one!

- **The Kite Runner** by Khaled Hosseini
This is a 10th-anniversary edition—so shiny and golden! I’ve heard incredible things about this book, and I’m ready to experience the story that everyone raves about.
- **Eon: The Last Olympian** by Allison C. Goodman
I got this from watching Katrina’s video on *Little Book Owl*. It’s a fantasy novel set in Asia with dragons—I’m dying to dive into its world.
- **Requiem** by Lauren Oliver
This is the final book in her *Delirium* trilogy, and I’ve heard it’s about love as a disease. I can’t wait to find out what happens next.
