The Ironic Scam: A eBay Scandal Involving a Popular YouTube Channel

It's kind of ironic if you think about it, considering that my channel has been all about getting good deals on eBay avoiding being scammed on eBay and now someone's using those videos to scam people on eBay. Great ok so the video in question is a video that I made back in May where I bought an iMac for seventy-five bucks there's a two thousand seven twenty inch iMac and the video did very well it's just got over two hundred thousand views which is definitely very good for a small channel like mine.

So about ten minutes ago I was looking through the spam filter on YouTube because often times it picks up stuff with like bad words or links and sure enough this comment was flagged because it had a link to an eBay listing. It said it looks like someone liked your video enough to use its images to overcharge for an iMac. And of course, I had to click on that link. So when I clicked on the link, this is what came up. It's a listing for an Apple iMac 9 comma 1 a 12 25 24 inch Core 2 Duo that's a 2009 early 2009 just before the redesign of this model of iMac.

And as you can see sure enough those are images from my video I mean you can't make this stuff up if you look over here, you can clearly see in the background that this is the exact same iMac. The background, the little mr. poopy butthole figurine, the blue LED lighting, it's unmistakably my video. This is my iMac over here and look what's even better in my opinion is the fact that they, they have even the wrong iMac. This is a 20 inch iMac but they're listing for a 24 inch also. This is a bit of an issue with the $560 for a 2009 iMac even sure it's a 24 inch I guess that's better than I mean it's certainly better than this 2007 20 i'm AK but five sixty plus $30 shipping that's absurd.

I don't know what to say if we read their description here, they have pretty much the exact same title. Condition is used shipped with you USPS Parcel select ground. That is so bizarre to me. See what one thing that I can't tell is if this is legit I mean you can see here, this seller is brand-new we'll click on them see they've only been on since about September. Doesn't look like they really have anything for sale other than my iMac and a couple of other things.

What's kind of think of it I wonder this looks like a stolen picture as well that looks like it's from one of márquez's videos of the iPhone 10. What the heck what is this guy I can't tell if these are like he's actually selling these things and then he just doesn't have the pictures for them or if this is a scam and he's not selling anything at all. You know sometimes people will not necessarily try to get your money because you know if you don't ship someone the eBay item that they ordered then you can get your money back but you can get their address, you can get their basic contact info like their email and their name if that's in there eBay information.

So I'm just very perplexed by this. I mean I gotta thank Brendon Mason for sending me the link to this. I have no idea how you found this but this is really really rather funny. I'm gonna add this to my watchlist there so there you have it. Apparently, there's a new trend on eBay of just stealing images from people's videos and then passing that off as their own item. That's the item that you're selling. You know I have to admit it does get me a little bit that someone is sticking it to me here they're using my videos to scam people when I've been making videos all along about how to not get scammed.

So needless to say, if you see that eBay listing or that eBay seller don't buy it. I mean the price alone would rule that out in my opinion but that is pretty funny. Um, I did get a good chuckle out of this. I hope you guys also got a good chuckle. And before you ask, I did email the seller and ask them to take down that listing because you know obviously that's super scummy of them to do.

Also, while they're at it, they should cut their price by about three hundred and fifty dollars I would say so.
