**The Razer Key Light Chroma: A Comprehensive Review**
As I sit down to review my lighting setup, it's clear that the Razer Key Light Chroma is a crucial component of my streaming and gaming rig. This sleek and powerful light source has been a game-changer for me, providing a level of brightness and color accuracy that has elevated my content creation experience.
**Powering the Light**
One of the primary concerns I had when setting up the Razer Key Light Chroma was its power requirements. As you can see from my testing, it's not exactly plug-and-play, as it blocks off multiple ports on a standard power strip. This necessitates the use of an extension cable to provide access to usable ports. While this may seem like a minor inconvenience, it's a crucial factor to consider when selecting a lighting solution.
**Setting Up the Light**
After some fiddling with the software and network settings, I was able to set up the light on my desk, away from the main workspace. The result is a beautifully illuminated area that draws attention without being too overpowering. By mounting the light off to the side, I've created a clean and clutter-free environment that showcases the Razer Key Light Chroma's capabilities.
**Color Temperature and Brightness**
One of the standout features of the Razer Key Light Chroma is its color temperature. At 4,500 Kelvin, it provides a bright and even light that's perfect for illuminating my face without being too harsh. The color temperature is adjustable, allowing me to fine-tune the output to suit different situations. This level of flexibility is a major selling point for those looking to enhance their lighting setup.
**Accent Lighting**
In addition to its primary function as a face light, the Razer Key Light Chroma can also be used as an accent light. By adjusting the color temperature and brightness, I've created a subtle yet effective ambient glow that adds depth and visual interest to my workspace. This feature is particularly useful for creating a dramatic effect, as seen in the video's opening shot.
**Reaction Mode**
One of the most exciting features of the Razer Key Light Chroma is its reaction mode. By syncing with other Razer devices, such as keyboards and mice, I can create a truly immersive lighting experience that reacts to my actions in real-time. This level of interactivity adds an extra layer of engagement for viewers, making the streaming experience more dynamic and engaging.
**Razer Ecosystem Integration**
For those deeply invested in the Razer ecosystem, this light is a dream come true. Its seamless integration with other devices allows for effortless syncing and customization. While I'm not a die-hard fan of the Razer brand, I can appreciate the benefits that come with using their products.
**Closing Thoughts**
In conclusion, the Razer Key Light Chroma is an excellent lighting solution for streamers and gamers alike. Its extendable design, adjustable color temperature, and reaction mode make it a versatile tool for enhancing any content creation setup. While its price may be a deterrent for some, I believe that the benefits of this light far outweigh the cost.
**Recommended for**
If you're in the market for a high-quality lighting solution that offers flexibility and customization options, the Razer Key Light Chroma is definitely worth considering. Its ability to integrate with other devices and provide a seamless streaming experience makes it an excellent choice for those who value convenience and precision.
**Final Thoughts on the Lighting Experience**
Overall, I'm extremely happy with my decision to use the Razer Key Light Chroma as my primary lighting source. Its brightness, color accuracy, and flexibility have taken my content creation experience to the next level. If you're looking to enhance your own streaming or gaming setup, I highly recommend giving this light a try.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enRazer is really coming to challenge Elgato by bringing out their own light they're calling it the key light chroma pretty familiar sounding name huh A major advantage that this light has over the Elgato key light is that it has RGB this could be pretty important for a lot of people but with all that being said let's open it up and see what's in the box so first impressions just from the opening is that this light is kind of big I didn't actually expect it to be this big a lot of times when I think of LED panel lights I think of something about this big I guess competitive to like the key light air or the key I think the mini whatever the Elgato small light but this is razer's only light and they're going big with it makes sense this is 299 dollars so I do want a bigger light at that price point that's for sure taking it out of the box it's actually a lot heavier than it looks too but uh I from what I can tell on the box it also comes with a bunch of accessories and a desk clamp which is nice so let's go ahead and get everything out of the box and then I'll come back to this wow that is chunky looking felt like a clown car I'm trying to pull it out just kept going huh it doesn't need to pack up so this is everything that came in the box of course we have the light we have the pole that is going to be mounting to we have the adapter to adapt the light to mount to the pole and then we have a very strong looking desk clamp Mount but it's a little lighter than it looks we also have the wire management clips and then we have the power adapter now in traditional film and photo a key light is the main light used to light the subject using that term for a light like this is a little bit of a stretch but that's the naming convention that they've gone they've gone with thanks to Elgato when it comes to that though a light like this will do that job just fine for any kind of content creation or streaming but at the 100 markup that this is over the Elgato key light I'd expect it to have some advantages and in that case it's the RGB functionality of it so if you're wondering how to make the RGB functionality of it more worth it then let's get into that but first let's set it all up now the way that you actually have to attach this thing the it clamps to a sort of nipple on the arm is a little bit unique I'm not used to seeing that in all the photo video gear that I've played with but looks like it's going to work pretty good from what I can see in the mount as well if you're worried about the clamp damaging your desk they do have it lined with rubber on the inside on both sides and as far as anti-vibration goes to me that's a bit of a plus because rubber is going to help keep little vibration to them if you have this mounted to the same disc that you're playing your games on or typing on or whatever something important worth mentioning is that you do have mounting options on all sides of the light you have the quarter inch threads here here here and here and so however you'd want to mount it be it this way or be it this way you're able to do that first major gripe with this whole light rig is the power brick it is awkward to plug into any kind of a power strip because it's going to block off so many other ports on there that uh you may need yourself a little bit of a little extension to come off of power strip for to have any kind of usable ports along with it because this is just too big I've gone ahead and set up the light here mounts on the desk off to the side and after fiddling it with it in the software with regular synapse maybe it's my network maybe something is going on there it kept losing its connection to the Wi-Fi which made it very difficult to control on the software so I'm done with that control via the phone seems to be the better way to go with this with all that out of the way I'm solely using the Razer key light chroma right now to light me there's a little bit of accent lighting around the room but the primary light that is on me right now is it this is what you get this is at about 4 500 Kelvin on the color temperature of white that it is and honestly I actually think it looks pretty good it is a powerful light because at this level this distance from me it's still pretty bright but it comes through on the camera really good and that's kind of the point so here we are at my computer setup and normally I have my ring light set up which is this light right here which you can see will more evenly light me but if I turn the ring light off and I go with just the Razer key light chroma you can say I have a bit of a dark side on this side if you like the dramatic look obviously that's a good thing but this is a good reason why some people get two of these lights so you can light both sides of your face that's a pretty expensive way to light both sides of your face if I'm being honest because these are pretty expensive but you do get a pretty good look from it though the RGB definitely enables you do some more fun stuff than just a standard white light like something like this and what this can do is like a reaction to if you were to do let's say an emo in a game or get a kill or a reaction to your stream you can get more party RGB going which is kind of fun or if you're playing a game like doom and you really want to get in the Ambiance so the color of what that game would bring yo RGB well the r is for red then I've got it set up behind me as an ambient backlight and using it as sort of an up light to shoot up against the wall behind me it's a really good look and right now it is literally the only light in the room aside from some accent lighting but for the most part that's all I have going right now to really give color and it looks good now if you were to do it with an actual light in front of you and you got something like this going on it's still noticeable out there the light in the front that's properly lighting you without being too overpowering will still make good use of an ambient backlight like that then it's awesome that you can change colors again for the reactions and then all sorts of different effects that you'd want to do with it that you can't do with like a plain white light so closing thoughts on this is that it's expensive for what it is you do get a really good quality stand for it it's extendable so depending on your usage situation with how low or how high you want it you have all that functionality with it and I guess another benefit is if you're in the Razer ecosystem then this can integrate with all the lighting and all the stuff in your ecosystem all the reaction stuff if you have a keyboard a Mouse a mouse pad and all of it lights up and syncs up this can sync up with it and that could be a benefit to a lot of people that are fans of Razer I'm not necessarily in the ecosystem and I'm sure there are plenty of people out there like me dealing with the Razer software in order to get the light to work is a turn off and the price of it again it's a big turn off however if the functionality of the RGB is something that you want and something that you can make good use of it absolutely has an advantage over its competition anyways if you like this video you know what to do hit that subscribe button and that Bell so you don't miss a single upload also I
