**Poco F4 Review: A Balanced Mid-Range Phone with Some Minor Flaws**
The Poco F4 is a mid-range phone that offers a balance of performance, camera capabilities, and display quality. In this review, we'll delve into the details of this device and explore its strengths and weaknesses.
**Camera Performance**
One of the standout features of the Poco F4 is its camera performance. The main lens delivers good-quality videos up to 4K at 60 fps, which is a great aspect ratio for YouTube and social media platforms. However, the video stability can be an issue, especially if you're looking for smoother footage. For selfies, the camera takes decent photos, but they lack color reproduction and detail levels compared to the primary lens. The ultra-wide-angle shots also suffer from distortion and are not as good as the primary lens. Overall, the camera performance is good, but not exceptional.
**Design**
The Poco F4's design is a mixed bag. On one hand, it looks and feels like some recent Redmi Note series phones with its flat form factor and square-edged design. This design is not bad or anything, but it ultimately doesn't feel unique, especially when compared to other high-end smartphones like the Nothing Phone 1. The lack of originality in design is evident, and it's a shame that Poco didn't take more risks with its design. Additionally, the phone could benefit from an industry-standard fingerprint sensor, such as USB Power Delivery (PD), which would provide faster and more reliable charging.
**Battery Life**
The battery life of the Poco F4 is slightly above average, considering its demanding usage patterns. With a 4500mAh battery and 120Hz refresh rate, I was able to get around six hours of screen-on time at best. However, this number can vary depending on your usage habits. The phone's fast charger, which comes with the device, fills up in around 50 minutes, making it convenient for daily use.
**Software Experience**
The Poco F4 runs Android 12, but Pogo has not taken full advantage of its features. Some popular Android features like wallpaper theming and a privacy dashboard are still missing, which makes the UI feel more like Android 11 than Android 12. Additionally, there have been reports of hardware-related issues such as motherboard failure and camera malfunctions in some Poco devices. While Pogo has addressed this issue by offering two years of warranty for the Poco F4, it's still a concern for potential buyers.
**Conclusion**
After analyzing both pros and cons of the Poco F4, I would recommend it to anyone looking for a balanced performance-centric device in the mid-range price bracket. While there are some minor software bugs and hardware-related issues, they should be addressed with future updates. The phone's good camera performance, nice display, and multimedia experience make it an attractive option. Additionally, its price is competitive, especially when considering cashback offers and promotions.
**A Missed Opportunity**
One area where the Poco F4 falls short is in its design. While it looks and feels like some recent Redmi Note series phones, it doesn't feel unique or special. In a market filled with high-end smartphones that take risks with their designs, Poco's lack of originality is noticeable. It's time for the company to rethink its design strategy and offer something more distinctive.
**What We Wish Poco Had Done Better**
In conclusion, while the Poco F4 is a solid mid-range phone, there are some areas where it falls short. The camera performance, although good, could be improved with better video stability. The ultra-wide-angle shots could also benefit from refinement. Additionally, the design lacks originality, and the fingerprint sensor feels outdated. Finally, the software experience could benefit from more features and improvements.
Overall, the Poco F4 is a balanced mid-range phone that offers good performance, camera capabilities, and display quality. While it has some minor flaws, they should be addressed with future updates. With its competitive price and attractive features, it's definitely worth considering for anyone in the market for a new smartphone.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey guys prathewa here so it's been around a month since i've been using the poco f4 as my primary phone it is the successor to the incredibly popular poco f3 from last year but if you compare their specs side by side well you won't find many differences however i believe poco has put out a very balanced mid-range smartphone this time around with some quality of life improvements and a fair price tag so let me talk about all of my experiences with the poco f4 the things i liked about it and the things that i think poco could have done better right after this short message from our sponsor motilal oswald if you are a beginner in investing and trading relying on an expert is a must as it will help you identify areas of opportunities but don't worry with motilal oswal you are allotted a financial advisor who will help you answer all your queries and make better investments to get started you will just need your pan card card and bank proof and if you the description to start investing with the best brands in india right now okay back to the review the first aspect which i really like about the poco f4 is its display for a mid-range phone the poco f4 has an excellent screen it's got terrific contrast good colors and the touch response here is also great i haven't faced any issues with brightness levels even in the harshest lighting conditions too and the cherry on top is the fact that its auto brightness sensor works really well plus it's a very feature-backed display this is an e4 panel made by samsung so you get memc support here too for those of you who are not aware memc is a software induced feature that artificially adds frames in the middle of two frames thereby increasing the total number of frames in a particular scene which makes the content you're watching appear smoother and best of all is that this display supports hdr 10 plus and dolby vision even on streaming platforms like netflix and amazon prime which is something other brands miss out or disable the feature altogether in this price range so if you ask me i would give the poco f4 and a when it comes to the visual experience that being said i would have liked it more if poco had included anti-flicker mode here like we find in most xiaomi devices while i also wish the bezels were a bit even on all sides now about its dual speakers they sound really good and i had a great time listening to music on spotify on this phone they're loud the vocals are clear here and there's no distortion in the highest volume which makes consuming content on this screen a very pleasing experience next up i am also quite satisfied with its performance it uses the same chipset as last year's poco f3 the snapdragon 870 and i would say that this is still a very reliable fast performing processor for an upper mid-range phone in 2022. this thing can handle almost all demanding tasks without so much as a hiccup and even playing graphics demanding games is not a problem here games such as pubg runs smoothly at respectable settings with 100 fps stability here i also played apex legends on the boco f4 where i got a stable 60 fps at extreme hd graphics and ultra frame rates even genji impact runs pretty smoothly in the highest settings at around 53 fps with motion blur turned off so i was pretty impressed by that and i am also pleased to tell you that this phone can run high fps games such as admire and critical ops at 120 fps however once or twice it did struggle to maintain stability in kenshin impact it wasn't a routine occurrence or anything but once in a while the gameplay would just take a hit but i don't think this is something to worry about since it has only happened twice and that's not something an update or two cannot fix and during all my gaming sessions i did not notice the phone heating up unbearably either it does get warm but not as hot as the poco f3 looks like the new vapor chamber is doing a good job here okay moving on if you remember the poco f3 had strictly average cameras but finally this time poco has made a lot of improvements in this department the 64 megapixel primary lens features ois this time due to which the images come off very sharp in ample lighting conditions you can get some good shots from this phone and if you're someone who prefers contrasty images you will be pleased with the output of the poco f4 portraits from the phone also look good enough to share on social media the subjects are slightly smoothened but in most cases you will get good looking images in indoor conditions though the images be it normal or portrait appear a bit soft moving on the onboard ois has definitely helped with nighttime photography here since even without the night mode turned on i found its images to have good enough details and balanced exposure the poco f4 scores good points in the videography aspect as well you can shoot up to 4k 60 fps from the main lens where the videos have good quality although they're not very stable so if you prefer steadier results i would suggest you switch to 4k 30 fps or 1080p resolution the only aspect of the poco f4s back cameras that do not score good numbers is the ultra wide angle photos you will notice some distortion towards the edges here and the overall color reproduction and detail levels are not very good as well at least nowhere near as good as the primary lens also its selfies are just average given its price tag they look a bit dull for my liking and this also includes the selfie video i still don't understand why smartphone brands are not offering a high quality 4k video recording option from the front camera given how popular tick-tock and video calling has become in 2022 now getting to the battery life i found it to be slightly above average i use this phone at 120 hertz refresh rate all the time so combine that with my demanding usage pattern i was able to squeeze around six hours of screen on time at best so that's a pretty decent result for a 4500mah battery phone and thanks to the 67 watt fast charger that comes inside the box the phone fills up in around 50 minutes only the only complaint that i have with its charging is that maybe it's high time that smartphone companies start adopting universal standard like usb power delivery on their devices rather than the proprietary ones like on this guy which only fast charges xiaomi phones okay let's now discuss the things that i think poco should have done better with the poco f4 starting with its design we know that lately the smartphone industry has been leaning towards a lot of rebranding where both xiaomi and poco have played a huge part and that reflects with this phone as well the poco f4 basically looks and feels like some recent redmi note series phone with the flat form factor and the square of edges although this design is not bad or anything and it indeed feels quite good on the hands it's just that the lack of originality is evident here and it ultimately does not feel unique and that's at a time when you get some really cool looking phones like the nothing phone one so i think that's a missed opportunity for poco as far as the design is concerned and i also think that xiaomi and poco should start offering industry fingerprint sensors at least in the upper midrange segment the capacitive fingerprint sensor here is totally fine but once the price goes higher in display is what you'd want likewise i think the vibration feedback on this phone could be better as well it's totally fine when you're typing and stuff like that but its strength is a bit weak because of this i have missed some incoming calls especially when i would have the phone in my pockets or when riding a bike and with almost all the xiaomi and pocophones i wish the company had refined the software experience a bit more too on my usage i have occasionally faced stutters in the ui sometimes even when i was just opening a light app similarly even though the poco f4 runs on android 12 pogo has not taken full advantage of that since some of my favorite android features are still missing here like wallpaper theming and privacy dashboard which makes it feel like you're still using android 11. also i've got to address the elephant in the room which is the fact that many poco owners have complained about a lot of hardware related issues like motherboard failure and cameras not working and they had to pay high repair costs after the warranty period expired so pogo has addressed this very issue by offering two years of warranty for the poco f4 but if you ask me it's not a complete solution and i do hope that the company focuses more on quality control unlike creed from the office of course okay with this i have come to the end of this video and after analyzing both pros and cons of this phone i would definitely recommend it to anyone who's looking for a balanced performance centric device in the mid-range price bracket yes there are some minor software bugs here and there but those are something that should be fixed with future updates so i would not worry about it so much plus the poco f4 has a good enough camera performance too at least the primary lens and it offers a really nice display and multimedia experience too so it's almost an all-rounder mid-range phone plus from time to time there's some cashback and similar offers on the poco f4 making it an even more lucrative deal so watch out for that as well alright guys so that was all for this video if you liked it don't forget to give it a thumbs up
