6 Drink Accessories for New Years feat. Mr. Kate - HGTV Handmade

Creating Handmade Crafts for a Glam Nautical New Year's Party

As we welcome the new year, it's time to get creative and add some sparkle to our parties. In this article, we'll explore how to make various handmade crafts that will elevate your New Year's celebrations to a glam nautical theme.

Making Seashell Drinks with a DIY Cocktail

We're thrilled to have Mr. K as our special guest today, who has joined us to share his expertise on making adorable little seashell drinks that are perfect for any glam nautical New Year's party. To get started, you'll need some six-inch wooden drink stirrers, a variety of seashells, E6000 glue, and a piece of scrap paper. Simply fill up the opening of the seashell with glue and press the wooden skewer right into the glue, then let it dry overnight.

Mr. K's DIY cocktail using these seashell drinks was amazing, and we were able to incorporate them seamlessly into our coconut Bellini. The end result was a beautiful combination of flavors and textures that added an extra layer of sophistication to our party. To make your own seashell drinks, follow Mr. K's simple steps and enjoy the results.

Adding Starburst Drink Stirs to Your Party

For our next drink accessory, we're going to add some fun starburst drink stirs that will add a pop of color and excitement to your New Year's celebrations. To create these, you'll need glitter paper, wood skewers, tacky glue, a pencil with an eraser, and heavy-duty scissors. Simply freeform a starburst shape onto the glitter paper, cut it out carefully, and attach it to a skewer using more tacky glue.

We love how easy this project is, and you can make multiple drink stirs in no time. The result is a beautiful, sparkly garnish that adds a touch of glamour to any cocktail or drink. Plus, the starburst shape adds an extra layer of fun and whimsy to your party.

Adorable Little Straws for Your New Year's Party

For our next project, we're going to make adorable little straws that are perfect for sipping on cocktails or enjoying as a snack. To create these, you'll need paper straws, white artist tape, and scissors. Simply wrap the artist tape around the straw to create a cute little handle, then cut off a small piece of paper to create a decorative front.

The best part about this project is that it's quick and easy to make, and you can create multiple straws in no time. Plus, they're perfect for adding a personal touch to your New Year's party. So why not give it a try and see how many adorable little straws you can make?

Deconstructed Hot Chocolate Snacks for Your Party

Finally, let's talk about making some delicious deconstructed hot chocolate snacks that are perfect for your New Year's celebrations. To start, you'll need marshmallows, white frosting, vanilla frosting, sanding sugar, and lollipop sticks. Simply dip the lollipop stick into the frosting and then insert it into the marshmallow, coating it in a layer of sanding sugar.

We're obsessed with how cute these snacks are, and they're so easy to make. The result is a beautiful, edible decoration that adds a touch of whimsy to your party. Plus, you can customize them by adding different flavors or colors to the frosting or sanding sugar. So why not give it a try and see what delicious creations you can come up with?

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enyou hi everybody welcome back to HGTV handmade today I shall see I have a very special guest please welcome mr. K hearing things are happy so the reason why I have mr. K here is because we are making some crafts in celebration of the hgtv dreamhome 2016 yeah I was lucky enough to get to visit the hgtv dreamhome 2016 which is gorgeous and I got to make a DIY cocktail and the DIY mocktail and I got to use one of your beautiful DIY stir sticks which had a seashell on top it's so cute yeah they're really cute and we're going to show you how to make those today near the exact same ones that were featured in the TV show as well as 5 other drink accessories that are perfect for any glam nautical New Year's party you might want to throw though let's get started so the first project that we're going to do are these adorable little seashell drinks you're going to need some six inch of wooden drink stirrers a variety of seashells some e6000 and a piece of scrap paper to work on all you're gonna do is pretty much fill up the opening of the seashell with your glue and then you can press the wooden skewer right into the glue and then just fill it up right on top of the skewer so that it's pretty much just entirely covered in glue and then just set it down and let it dry overnight it I love it these was so good we put these inside the coconut Bellini that we raised and it was just like simple sheen but has that nautical violet mean to in your face okay my turn I'm gonna show you guys how to make a one gal or I guess this is a champagne glass charm if you want to use seashells in some other glamorous way now I feel like seashells don't get enough love in the winter months you know they're usually like a summer thing but hey seashells are around all year long so we may as well use them for some New Year's crap so I'm using the seashells gold chain jump rings wire to open and close the jump rings a wire cutter and in this case we went big go big or go home a hot glue gun and then the most fun some Mod Podge and a paintbrush and some fine gold glitter so first step I want to get the chain on to the shells so I'm going to cut about a two inch piece alright so now I'm going to take one of these lovely jump rings and you want to put both ends of the chain through and then closer up lip this guy over and glue down this jump ring press it down the strings are just sort of par for the course and hot glue gun a mess after all it's my ball there we go look at its attached oh it's so cute so you can leave it like this you could leave it clean but I want to go just glam so taking the montage a paintbrush and I'm just gonna do the edge of this now for glitter look how cute that says New Year's at the beach right here so now we're actually gonna backtrack a little bit and I'm gonna talk about these cute little silver and white champagne glass there's a little teal I love this I love this maybe on all you do is you find these plastic champagne glasses and they actually come in two pieces so you get the base and then the actual Cup and so you can keep the cup away from any of your craft supplies so that you're not like drinking glitter in spray paint and I like that and then you can just take this face and you can spray paint it any color that you like I decided to go with white and silver independent go with our color scheme and I think they look super cute all put together so once you're done with though is if you plan on drinking anything other than champagne at your party we also have these kind of more plain cups but I had the idea so obviously the nautical theme and we won't involve sand somehow obviously with crafting we have tons of different types of paper what if we use the sandpaper G so for this project you're going to need some clear plastic cups some tacky glue some sandpaper heavy duty scissors a pencil and a paintbrush so you can start by flipping over your sand paper and putting down your cup and just kind of tracing the bottom so now just take your heavy duty scissors and I cut out your square now just flip over your cup and open up your tacky glue and I like using a brush to just kind of get it on the entire bottom of the cup and now you can just press your sandpaper right onto the bottom of the cup and then if any is sticking out over the edge you can just kind of trim that down it doesn't look like much right now but if you want to dry overnight the glue dries clear and it says you have a beach party in your cup all right so next up I am going to add to the party that is already happening here with the drink stirs with these fun starburst drink stirs what you need is a lovely piece of glitter paper dr using this beautiful pearlescent kind of yeah pur listen right I think that's how hard it is tonight and we're also gonna use some of these wood skewers the same ones that Karen used with the seashells some tacky glue a pencil with an eraser and some nice heavy-duty scissors so I am going to freeform this starburst shape all right so now cut it out and done cutting this out but I want to have the back side not be all pencil II so I'm gonna erase and then I'm also going to cut out a twin so now you just want to glue these two sides together using your techie glue we want to attach it to our skewer with some more tacky glue and let it dry whoo party so for our next drink accessory I think we've enough drink stirs by now yeah good on that friends we're stirred up but we're gonna make some adorable little straws so for this project all you'll need are some paper straws some white artist tape and some scissors so just grab at one of your straws and since our drink stirs are a little shorter than this straw I'm just gonna cut it down now just take a piece of artist tape and press it onto the straw and then carefully wrap it around and back onto itself now just take your scissors and cut a cute little front go right on the end of it and that's all there is to it there's no drying time so you can make a ton of the for all at once people could even write their names on these - yeah definitely alright so for the last project it's sort of a drink accompaniment basically we're making some food and I'm really excited to have some snacks here I know right it smells so good so these I was thinking about sort of a deconstructed hot chocolate like if you wanted to start something other than a cocktail to your guests these are marshmallows these are actually begin marshmallows you can use regular marshmallows this is sanding sugar basically you just want sugar that has some nice big crystals you can see it this is white frosting so against vanilla frosting and then these are lollipop stick you're gonna take a lollipop stick and a marshmallow stick it in to the marshmallow super easy not all the way through because it's gonna be at the end like this has a little bobby pop and then you're just going to dunk it into the frosting and then stick it into the sanding sugar and there we go so cute cute it's like a snow dusting marshmallow these looks so good I'm gonna get ya let's just give it a quick taste test and we have to like make sure that I know that was so much fun that we made so many cute little crafts for hours nautical glam and New Year's parties yes so cute I love it it's so glamorous I can't wait to party with you Karen okay and also speaking of partying you guys have it tuned in to HDTV home 2016 is on at 8 p.m. and we're stay it's so gorgeous I'm on it which is really cool and I have some women so I'll get to knit and let us know in the comments which project was your favorite which one are you to be making for your New Year's party it makes you food in all week long because all the other girls are also doing DIY projects that were featured in the hgtv dreamhome 2016 yeah\n"
