Microsoft - Wireless Comfort Desktop 5000 - Unboxing & Review
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi this is Aaron with zolot today we have the Microsoft wireless Comfort desktop 5000 and it says ultimate Comfort made easy now this is very similar to the last keyboard that Microsoft came out with this is not out yet um it is available for pre-order and as this video goes out it it actually might be out but check out Amazon and windows or microsoft.com Hardware rather and you can check this out and see if you know if this is what you're looking for so it does come with the blue track Mouse looks really similar to the other one although I don't see any white around it and we'll see that once we open it up um other than that pretty standard it is uh 2.4 GHz Wireless with quiet touch keys and that's pretty much it and uh comes with a wireless adapter so I'm going to go ahead and open this up I already cut this but I have not taken this out I just cut it and uh let's see how this comes out of the box here okay so we're going to slide that out looks like the mouse kind of dropped out so I'm just going to slide it down here and set the Box aside so here's the mouse and the wireless adapter so I'm going to pop that out of here and take a look at it and it's just wrapped in plastic to keep it shiny and glossy so we have that here's the mouse pretty standard the other one I have from Microsoft this piece is white but other than that they look pretty close and this is where the adapter goes if you do need to bring this on the go with you so uh actually let's just take a look at the mouse for those of you who haven't seen this blue track Mouse uh we we'll put the battery in here actually so you can take a look at it so it comes with a set of four AA Energizer batteries let's go ahead and put these in the mouse and they last an incredibly long time especially if you bringing this with you as you put this in here it's actually a little kill switch here and it shuts it off so it will save a lot of power and with two of these mice blue track is an LED that's blue and you can see it came on and it's basically you've got two batteries and it's only going to use one while it's while it's going here so there's the blue blue track LED and it tracks just about on any surface except for glass uh carpet Granite you name it and you can see it just went off as I put this in here take it out it's just this switch here and so we'll set that aside but this is coated in rubber right here you have a forward and back button or however you want to set them up your standard buttons the mouse wheel clicks and Scrolls silently and tilts as well and then you have an indicator light here let me pull this out you can see the indicator light just lit up uh it will go red when the batteries are low and and that's it and this is a pretty standard Mouse uh they're using in a couple different keyboard sets so we'll set this one over here and take a look at the keyboard cuz that's what differentiates this from the last keyboard we looked at so we'll pick the instructions out and just a brown brown box and we'll set that over here it's looks like it's empty so here's the keyboard itself and we'll slide it out of the bag and uh First Impressions really nice looks a little more high-end than the last keyboard last one was kind of a budget keyboard This is a comfort one and right off the bat I can tell you this is coated with feels like rubber and it's kind of a diamond shape let me see if I can bring that in here you can see the diamond shape it goes down the whole length and then it goes gloss up through here and and that's pretty much it standard keyboard uh let's take a look at that in a second but we'll just see what it comes with instructions that say start here and it is Windows 7 compatible right off right right off the get-go here uh it's on the box if you didn't notice that just rewind the video you'll see it and just your instructions and your driver disc which you can also get off their website intell type Pro 7 and 7 for Mac so it will work with Mac and windows uh then you've got the two batteries so let's take a look at the uh keyboard so I'll flip it over here and get the batteries going so on the bottom right here you have these are different than I've seen before it looks like you've got I'll have to take a look at that but these it's got like a lock so it looks like you can lock it onto something oh you know what it looks like it might have feet and maybe I missed it in the in the uh box so I'll have to look at those again but let's get the batteries in here first and normally I do read the instructions but this time I just didn't happen to take a look so two ablea batteries you could always put rechargeables in here if you had them and then take them out when they're when they're going dead here so here is the keyboard itself it looks like you can put uh instead of having a flip up for here like most keyboards it looks like they have a riser that you can put in there uh let me flip this around so you can see that that's what I was looking at is see this right here uh it says you know you can spin this now the problem is there's nothing to spin so I'm assuming it's in the packaging and I missed it so I'm going to take a look at that uh other than that it's your standard keyboard so it's a wireless Comfort keyboard 5,000 and it sits flat this is how it's sitting flat right now and it's got a nice Palm rest and the keys are in an angle if you notice uh for your comfort now I'm not a standard typer but they do have some keys that you use regularly it looks like they're enlarged a little better uh for example g& h n just because where they lie where your thumb is and the bigger Keys one thing I did notice here that I like a lot is the caps lock button it's kind of got a little Gap around it and I think that's probably so you don't hit it as well as easy as you might on others and let me take this plastic film off here just so you can see the whole thing very glossy very nice um we do have a bunch of buttons across the top these are programmable and they have a nice feel when you click them down soft touch quiet touch like the keyboard but they're solid uh you can program all of these this four the the numbers are actually recessed the rest of them are not uh right across the numbers they have where the one is they recess down in uh like a square down into the plastic it looks like or feels oh you got a home mail folders some people like the button some don't here you have all different folder buttons but again these are all programmable which is which is nice if you use that uh the ones I'll find out I use the most are the volume up and down mute and headphone button which I'm not really sure uh 100% what you would use that for uh maybe switching to a headphones if you have them plugged in I don't know that would be a really nice feature that way you could keep them plugged in uh let me see if there's feet in the box that I missed uh as we spoke of earlier and there are I just missed them because they're down in here so these are and they're pretty good let's see so that is it for the box I missed them because they're not standard so here we have the feet for the bottom of this you can see they've got a notch and if you're like me you like your keyboard raised up a little bit you can raise the front even it looks like you put them in here like this and says to lock you twist to the right I don't see any difference in them I just didn't want to force it yeah they're pretty pretty tough but that's nice uh in that it will always stay raised so see they come out you can put them wherever you want if you like the the front raised my I've never run into anybody that does but that doesn't mean you aren't out there so there they're raised and uh I kind of like that design as opposed to the regular keyboard because then you can't just flip them down it's less convenient and if someone doesn't know they're on there well enough uh I think that your average person isn't going to just try and take them off they kind of look like they're part of the the keyboard if you can see what I mean uh but other than that really nice keyboard solid build um there's no Creeks if you can see them there's the white balance correcting uh as you can see I'm I'm flexing it just to see if I hear any creaking uh pretty solid build um like I said it's available for pre-order as the video goes up it might become available or as you're watching this it might already be available if it's down the road uh but other than that you know you have a lot of sign assignable Keys got a star key here and you can turn the you know that's telling you star C is copy you know just in case you don't know the shortcuts uh which is nice because not everybody does but you know there's some people that are surprisingly newer uh to to the short cuts and don't use them and here we have all the different things so undo cut copy paste bold Etc uh but overall pretty nice definitely check it out if you're in the market for a keyboard especially if you need an ergonomic keyboard and a or as they call this a comfort keyboard This is the wireless Comfort desktop 5000 check them out at microsoft.com/testlabguides is Aaron with zolot we'll see you next timehi this is Aaron with zolot today we have the Microsoft
