Razer Goliathus Extended Chroma Mouse Pad Review!
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwhat's up guys i'm random frank p and today we're gonna be checking out the razer goliath extended chroma mouse pad here as you can see pretty self-explanatory it is their goliath extended mouse pad with some chroma rgb lighting embedded into it and we also have the regular goliath mouse pad with the chroma as well so we're gonna check them out for you guys today going over the features and stuff and yes there are actual features in a rgb mouse pad but in case you guys are interested in it or you want to pick it up i got you covered so this is a brand new release from razer obviously they put out mouse pads in the past ranging from regular ones to a 2015's razer firefly which is kind of like an extended version of this because when the og firefly launched that was a hard glide texture and it was obviously like a third the size of this so when you pick it up and you get ready to unbox it one thing that's really good is they have it rolled up with this sort of like cardboard tube so there aren't really any creases or wrinkles in it it's similar to how they box like posters and stuff so you don't get those creases because obviously in a mouse pad a noticeable crease is the last thing you want when you get it all laid out you'll realize this thing is definitely big it does come in at 36 inches wide by 12 inches tall that's pretty much gonna be your standard extended mouse pad size out there on the market and checking it out is all powered by usb with a power box being in that top left hand corner unfortunately we do not have a usb pass-through here so the way the whole mouse pad is constructed you have that sort of chroma rgb light tube embedded all around the sides of the mouse pad like i said before this is their standard like soft fabric texture i'm always more a fan of this over the hard glide texture i'm just more used to a soft texture like this and if you've used a regular mouse pad in the past and you can come to expect the same thing here the entire bottom surface is kind of like a rubber grippy material this is so obviously while it's on your desktop it doesn't slide around or anything so as you guys know i just recently reviewed the razer huntsman elite that keyboard is just chroma times 10 it even has chroma embedded in the the wrist rest there so when i put this on my gaming setup i knew i had to pair it with that keyboard this definitely makes for a crazy chroma setup now checking out all the features once you plug it into your pc and you have the synapse software booted up you can go in and change and you know kind of mix and match so one of the kind of limitations with these new mouse pads is there aren't really zones like we had in the firefly even though it's fully capable of 16.8 million rgb lighting effects doesn't have multiple zones so for example as you can see here it is going in tandem with our huntsman elite but instead of that wave effect actually going across the entire mousepad like it is a keyboard it just goes to that one color then fades smoothly and the weird thing is the wave and spectrum effect are pretty much the same exact thing um i didn't really notice a difference so that's kind of confusing next up for the effects we have the reactive and ripple effects you're probably used to this from all their other chroma products and stuff reactive pulses that color but i like it with ripple here because as you press a key that effect kind of ripples out through the keyboard and then also onto the mouse pad the effects are all synced and linked together which makes it look really cool the next effect here is going to be starlight again this is limited to just the keyboard because there are no zones in the actual mouse pads so you can have it set to be like one static color of the mouse pad and then have the effect on your keyboard then obviously you're familiar with breathing and stuff where you could have the mouse pad breathe certain colors in and out you can pick the two colors or have them be random but it's really easy to change and customize because in the synapse software when you go to the chroma tab whatever razor products you have plugged into your pc it visually shows there for you so you can see right there in the software it shows the goliath it's extended and it shows my huntsman elite and then from there you can change it up and it shows it real time in the software as well what the effects and the colors are and even though there are no zones that it is all kind of limited for the goliath is extended you can still do really cool things with the other razer products like create your own custom layers and effects but it is all pretty self-explanatory if you've used razer products in the past and you have worked your way around synapse software before then you'll know what you're doing here but as a whole i don't really mind that as kind of limited in terms of the effects in the zones because it just adds a cool extra layer of glow to your mouse pad and your setup i feel like if there were zones and it was flashing all these different colors at once it would kind of be too distracting and too much so i like how the lighting here is kind of subtle and then real quick we'll check out just the regular goliathus chroma and this is pretty much going to be like the same exact thing as the razer firefly mouse pad pretty much but again you just don't have those zones so kind of confusing because it's only ten dollars less than the firefly they categorize this as a medium sized mouse pad but i mean if you don't already own an extended this is gonna pretty much be a very familiar size that you've been used to and it's that same soft fabric texture and this comes in at 14 inches wide by 10 inches tall it's like a third of the size of the extended checking it out we still have that power box in the top left hand corner they do include these little cable management strips to kind of route your mouse cable there if you want i still wish we had the usb passthrough here we still don't and it's kind of odd that this includes those clips but the extended doesn't the nazi pricing look i alluded to with the goliath's chroma that is 40 which is currently 10 less than the razer firefly but that was 60 bucks when it launched so you're pretty much getting you know a nice chroma mouse pad for 40 bucks with the goliath extended chroma being sixty dollars at the end of the day you know you know the expression sex sells yeah that's true but so does rgb and chroma that's what really sells here and people might look at this and say oh my god it's pointless why do we have chroma lighting in a mouse pad but it's really not new chroma mouse pads been around for the past two three years now and we've never we never really had a nice extended version like this like we do with the goliath is extended so 60 bucks is still yeah kind of pricey for a mousepad in the end but if you are an rgb lover if you're all about the rgb craze and you just want that little extra that extra flair to your setup that extra pop and glow now your mousepad can kind of have that and i've always just used like a ten dollar extended mouse pad in the past which is much much cheaper than 60 bucks but it didn't complement my setup because it had no rgb i think it was from like vipe or something like that it was only like 10 or 11 i'll put it down below if you're interested i repeated it numerous times there are no individual lighting zones on this so you're slightly limited but again i'm completely content with that because then i think it would just be too much so with forty dollars or sixty dollars for both these mouse pads is too much for you that's okay but these will sell trust me people who want this rgb in the chroma effects will buy these and razer will have no problems getting these things off the shelves um i do like the soft fabric texture i've always preferred that over hard of the the hard glide surface but my one con for both would just be i wish these had a usb passthrough embedded in that kind of power box yeah it would probably take another usb dongle to plug into my pc but that's okay because now i also have to route the cable for my mouse pad as well as my mouse which i can just plug it right in there then have it routed up top or underneath or something like that because i do have a hole drilled in my desk so it would have been much easier and it's kind of confusing that they have those cable management clips on the regular goliathus but not the goliath that's extended here just kind of kind of strange kind of odd but guys that'll do it for both of the goliaths extended chroma as well as the razer goliath chroma mouse pads showed you all the rgb lighting the software and just the whole wrap up of how the mouse pad is extended or extended how the mouse pads are constructed and i guess you extended for the extended so hope you guys enjoyed if you did
