Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 - REAL Day in the Life Review!

**The Z Fold 3: A Review of Samsung's Innovative Smartphone**

As I sat down to review the Z Fold 3, I couldn't help but think about how exciting it was to finally get my hands on this innovative smartphone. The Z Fold 3 is a game-changer in the world of mobile technology, and I'm thrilled to share my thoughts on its features, camera capabilities, and overall user experience.

First things first, let's talk about the rear camera. I wanted to see if it lived up to the hype, so I turned to Cookie Monster for some assistance. As we set up the shot, Cookie Monster joked with me, saying "What's going on? Why are you pulling up on me like that?" But once we got the camera in focus and the bigger display came into play, he became a pro model subject. The resulting photos were excellent, with clear and sharp images that showcased the camera's capabilities.

Next, I wanted to test out the portrait mode feature, which has always been one of my favorite features on Samsung phones. With Cookie Monster as my willing participant (and by willing participant, I mean he was fed treats), I snapped some shots using both the main camera and the front-facing camera. The portrait mode shots turned out great, with a clean image that showed off the subject's features. However, I did notice that the blur effect could be improved in certain areas.

As we wrapped up our photo session, Austin joined us for dinner (which he politely declined), and I got to test out the phone's camera capabilities in more natural lighting conditions. This was a great opportunity to see how the Z Fold 3 handles different shooting scenarios. The resulting photos were excellent, with clear and sharp images that did justice to the subject.

One of the standout features of the Z Fold 3 is its ability to prop itself up using its second screen. This made it easy to take group shots or time-lapses without having to worry about setting the camera down or getting a static shot. The phone's versatility was impressive, and I loved how it allowed me to get creative with my photography.

As we wrapped up our day together, Cookie Monster needed some attention, and I had to give him a bath. This might seem like an unusual way to wrap up a review, but it just goes to show that the Z Fold 3 is designed for users who want to make the most of their device. Whether you're taking photos or simply using your phone as a tool, the Z Fold 3 has got you covered.

**Camera Quality and Performance**

The camera quality on the Z Fold 3 is decent, with three 12-megapixel sensors that are similar to those found in last year's model. However, Samsung has made some software improvements, which means users can expect slightly better photos compared to their previous experience. The resulting images are passable and do the job, but they don't quite reach the level of quality seen on Samsung's flagship S21 series.

**Battery Life**

One area where the Z Fold 3 falls short is in its battery life. With only 4,400 milliampere-hours (mAh) of capacity, users can expect around four to five hours of screen-on time, which is average at best. However, it's worth noting that this phone is designed for enthusiasts who want a unique experience rather than everyday users.

**Overall Impression**

After spending some time with the Z Fold 3, I have to say that I'm thoroughly impressed with its innovative design and features. This phone is not for everyone, but for those who are willing to adapt to its unique interface and layout, it offers an unparalleled user experience. The camera capabilities are excellent, and the bigger display makes it easy to take great shots without having to worry about setting the camera down.

One thing that might deter some users from purchasing this phone is its price tag. However, considering its features and design, I believe the Z Fold 3 is a worthwhile investment for those who want to be on the cutting edge of mobile technology.

As I conclude my review, I must say that I'm excited to see how Samsung will continue to develop and improve this line in the future. The Z Fold 3 has caught my attention with its innovative design and features, and I have no doubt that it will appeal to enthusiasts who want a unique smartphone experience.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwhat's going on guys travis consumer and today we're going to be spending a real day in the life with the new samsung galaxy z fold 3. now today we are actually going to be testing out a lot of stuff because i don't have a ton of experience with the full devices i haven't really used them for extensive periods of time but i've been using the z-fold threes so they'll probably be some things that you'll discover along the way with me today so if you haven't owned a fold device before we'll go through this together and see what it's like to actually have one and so you guys know we are actually shooting with the front-facing camera on the z-fold 3. uh there's actually two front-facing cameras one on the outside and one on the inside this one is pretty much what you would come to expect shoots in 4k and all that good stuff but let's take a look at the other one now the other one is quite a bit different you guys once you open up the device you can see we've got that camera right here and it actually blends with whatever is on the screen if i open up like a youtube video but as you guys can see it pretty much disappears now it is a bit pixelated but it blends in well enough so that if you are watching something it's not going to be an issue but let's see what that front-facing camera life is like with this one and because i can see the screen over here already oh big it's a big difference you guys so this is the second front-facing camera this one only shoots at a maximum of 1080p there are obviously some limitations with you know it being behind the display i mean for the most part it gets the job done if you want to just video chat with someone it'll definitely do the trick but it's not going to win any awards especially compared to the front-facing camera on the front of the device but now that that is out of the way we've got a lot of stuff to check out with this phone getting used to it is probably like the biggest thing for me having a phone this thick and getting used to opening it up to you know do random things it's not what we're used to so we're gonna see at what points during the day we find the usefulness of having a larger display at our disposal so the fold is an interesting device that does take some getting used to handling the beginning stages to me is all about finding what your default orientation will be for me i've been going back and forth between folded and unfolded because it's all pretty new to me but it seems like i've been defaulting to the folded view and then the unfolded if i'm going to spend more time on a page or an app and no matter which way you're holding it there is some getting used to for both modes the standard default mode when it's closed the folded mode it's thicker than your standard phone and like i said this phone is really slippery you just gotta manage you know holding it in a way where it doesn't fall out of your hands like if we can get a case like in stores we'll see we'll go to like i don't know a t-mobile or something and see if they have one they might you never know i've thrown this thing in my pocket i've had it slip out uh so it's a slippery phone definitely have to keep that in mind and when it comes to like unfolding it and holding it like this the big way when it's like pretty much in tablet mode uh it's a bit easier i would say now of course you can't reach everything so it's a two-handed device but you can hold it with one hand no problem uh but right now right i got youtube open and the thing is which way do you hold it do you hold it on the slippery side uh or do you hold it on the other side now i like holding it like this right now because the glass green gives me a little bit more friction so it makes holding it easier no sliding around it stays right in place that was just an accidental drop but it doesn't slide around at least you know i can i don't know why i'm doing this again jay but when you do have it in this way it slides far more you see my fingers moving here compared to up here but there are benefits to holding it on this side even though it's slippery uh obviously no fingerprints on the screen and you don't obstruct the speakers that are over here so it's up to you uh i do think once we throw a case on here though holding it on this side will absolutely be the way to go or if you want to throw a skin on it thanks to our channel response oh we don't have one of those and i will say whether it's folded or unfolded both screens take some getting used to uh the folded version the screen is narrower than what we're used to this screen is going to feel like everything is kind of squished in just a little bit so that does take some getting used to but when you go into of course tablet mode this is larger than we're used to so there's a little bit of an adjustment period for both ways but i feel like most people will default to this and then you know go to this when they want to immerse themselves in the content and while on the topic of like holding this phone typing is actually kind of interesting uh i feel like when i'm typing something i kind of want to do it on the larger mode the bigger screen gives you the full keyboard experience which is kind of weird it's split across the screen but it's really easy to get used to the only real thing that takes some getting used to is having to swipe this is weird it's just weird you're swiping across a big empty spot that's the only thing that's odd but for the most part everything else is pretty easy to get used to all right guys so i just texted arie real quick look who decided to jump on camera what's up buddy how's it going yeah you see jay shooting are you acting shy austin you know what let's let's take a selfie real quick buddy listen i don't get this kind of love he always calls out to mama awesome look say cheese yeah that's what i'm talking about you know what can we do you mind staying around for one more can we do one more with the front-facing camera inside don't call for mama yet all right he's trying to i don't know if you guys see this but his body is starting to go towards the edge of the couch he's trying to leave me cheese that one's not so hot you're cute but all right you leaving all right get on go on out of here man you don't you don't want to hang around austin come take a picture with cookie real quick come here buddy take a seat cookie come here all right austin say cheese you're looking at the wrong camera cheese all right give me five you did great d5 see how he does me all right jay let's look at these photos real quick now i mean they're brighter it's it was overexposed and i guess the hdr kind of brought some color back especially over here it was really overexposed but it's really soft over here yeah it's really soft this is a bit clearer i like this one so definitely getting okay shots but still i think i'd want a camera that performed a little bit better especially since it's not like pitch black in here i would want to see something a little bit better in these lighting situations this is like real life regular stuff you want it to look good but jay hold on check take a look at the difference between front-facing camera on the outside and then the inside this one just looks like look at that you can't see any detail it's all fuzzy but over here look at that you see the difference you see all those hairs everything oh this guy let's get this on camera jay this doesn't happen often he's always asking for him his mom you're supposed to be going to gym class yeah you get on out of here all right when's this gym trip happening oh that smile all right take your son man come on i'm working here okay so austin's gone off to his gym class now i am going to head over to target and to see if maybe we could find a case jay it might be a fool's errand to try and find a case for a phone that's not like officially out yet uh but it'll make me sleep better at night so check this out guys literally just got in the car phone was in my pocket and now it's over here this thing slides out of my pocket almost every time now some of you might be wondering why are you using google maps on the phone when your car has like you know navigation well for the folks out there who don't have navigation on their phone uh we want to test it out and see uh how it would impact the battery life for the day all right guys so a quick 10 minute drive we are at 66 so you drop a little bit all right guys so no accessories for the z-fold three i mean we've got it early why would i expect there to be accessories on sale but sometimes like stores sell the accessories before they sell the devices but no luck here whose idea was this anyway jay i think it was yours actually you said best buy i actually got my hands on a case from samsung and i will say guys it makes a huge difference when using it with it on i don't have to worry about it slipping anymore and i just feel a lot more confident with it in my hand since i'm honestly still getting used to this all new form factor whether that's closed or open all right guys so we just came out of target really quickly uh but as i was going to use my phone i noticed that the sun was peeking out just a little bit more than it's been all day it's been super cloudy i needed to up the brightness on my screen so usually i keep my phone at about 60 couldn't really see well put it at 100 looks good outside so nice and vibrant and if we go inside at 100 still nice and visible so using it outside you max out the brightness you're going to be more than fine to see on both screens outside use with these screens definitely wasn't an issue as these are both pretty solid screens the front is an updated 6.2 inch display at 120 hertz and of course things on the screen look very smooth it's narrower so it does take some getting used to when coming from a standard phone but like with all samsung phones it's a good looking and feeling display on the inside you get the larger 7.6 inch display which is also 120 hertz so things look good here as well except for that crease but the screen is also 30 harder compared to the last generation which means it's more durable and allows for s-pen support not just in the s-pen though you'll have to use the designated z-fold compatible pen as to not damage the screen it's harder and more durable but it's not the same as like the standard smartphone glass the s-pen actually retracts while in use to keep some of the pressure off the display and not cause any damage from use if you're a fan of the s-pen you'll be able to take advantage of all the features that it brings to the table but carrying it around alongside the fold seems to be the only downside in my eyes there is a case that allows you to carry it with the phone but that combo is going to cost you about 80 bucks i will say though it's better to have the extra functionality for those who want it rather than not have it at all alright guys we're back home just finished eating some food i've been on social media for a little bit and like you'd expect from instagram they haven't made a tablet version of the app but there is a setting that you can toggle on so you can go into settings jump into labs and you can customize app aspect ratio and in here you can go to instagram which defaults to 16x9 we're just going to make that full screen and now when we go into instagram boom what's great about this is that usually when you close the phone and let's say you were to jump back into instagram it would require a reset uh but now it'll just allow you to just jump right back in you wouldn't need to reset the app because it kind of just follows the same aspect ratio so this this is the way to do it pro tip now when it comes to the screen this size of course you want large full screen apps but if you want to do multiple apps at once you can also have the multitasking so you can just jump into like a video and then do a search whose searches are oh these are trending searches i'd like to say my search history up here yeah if you rotate pretty much does the same thing now undeniably this thing is a folding screen right so you've got this little bend in the screen i'm not gonna lie when i first got this device it stuck out like a sore thumb i am getting really really used to it it's kind of like the notch where the notch you know it's there it's in your face but after using the device for a while it kind of just blends into the entire phone so that's the same experience here now when you're watching a youtube video well when you're watching any video you can expect it to be maybe a little bit annoying so we got our man danny working on his gains over here and you know when you've got a lot of light so we've got this big old light up here i can see the reflections of the light on this strip on the bend and that's annoying when i'm like this right now against the light where the light's not shining on it looks completely fine to me now let's face this side and you see that you see that but for the most part watching it dead on just fine and check this out guys so let's say you're watching content right you can actually take advantage of the fact that this is a folding device and then boom you can watch your content like this this is how i would watch content while eating we'll talk about how this works with the camera too and remember we kind of talked about the best way to hold the device while watching something so check this out so once you have it on the table you hear it a lot clearer when the speakers are placed on the table versus the other way around you just don't get that little sound boost that you get from it being on the table and one last thing while we're here there's a labs feature that you can access to get some more controls when you're in this view it's called the what is it the flex zone panel flex motor panel the flex mode panel which we're trusting j flex zone sounds cooler so you can actually turn this on and when you go into certain apps like let's say crunchyroll you have access to these controls down here so let's say you're eating and you know you're not trying to tap on the screen a bunch you can actually just go right here you can control the brightness take a screenshot oh that's your notifications and you can control your volume now in some apps you'll also get the play and pause controls so like you see right here in spotify you get all those same controls but you're playing pause button right there as well i don't know jay i feel like this is growing on me so yeah i think so the only thing that's missing for me is the fact that it doesn't have all the cameras that like the s21 ultra has i know a lot of people who got the fold and instantly fell in love no instant love here i i'm still trying to get used to the concept but little by little yeah you know jay you don't fall in love on the first date man i do you you you did oh jay that's so sweet i'm telling michaela doing my everyday things is becoming more and more enjoyable as i get used to the fold gaming with a bigger display whenever i want at 120 hertz has definitely won me over i played way too many mobile games and honestly this thing is adding fuel to the fire now we did talk a little bit about the front-facing cameras on this uh but now let's talk about the rear camera so you know we got the best subject in the world cookie monster over here what's up cookie like yo what's going on he's like why are you pulling up on me like that let's uh get a picture of her and there we go oh man nice and nice and sharp let's actually use the bigger display jay we can do this now so this is a clean image this is very clean look at this guy he's eating food right now we'll we'll get back to him in a second look at that all right all right let me stop being a dad you can of course use the bigger screen to take pictures it'll give you a better idea of what you're taking a shot of so you don't have to feel bad like you know people take pictures with their tablets this is not quite like that okay i'd say this is just a bigger viewfinder it's not as bad as using an actual tablet let's do a portrait mode shot of you girl cookie you want a treat ah i said the magic word that's not a bad portrait mode shot you can clearly see where the blur effect comes into play like right about here it does a good job on this side why are you turning away her muzzle is all covered up okay that's actually really clean i like that these are great nice portrait mode shots so it looks like dinner time with austin has just ended austin how was dinner no not so great you don't like what i made you're telling on the chef um yeah yeah looks looks like a dinner with austin cool now this is the z-fold obviously so we can actually prop this thing up take the shutter button you gotta look at the camera buddy smile nice and wildly we got a good shot so you can take great shots like that good job austin give me five i'm stepping all in your food right now so this is great so if you want to take like a group photo or something you don't want to leave the camera man out you can go ahead prop this thing onto something set the timer and just run in and get your shot this kind of thing is going to be great for time lapses as well anything that you just need the camera to stay stationary and get a shot you'll be able to pull that off so that's a nice little bonus having an extra screen or i guess an extra portion of the screen it's like a built-in tripod so guys that pretty much i know buddy thanks for putting it on my face i love it i love it so much so i'm gonna go give this guy a bath so he can get into bed you ready to go to bed no it's a little too bad huh let's go take a bath say goodbye to the people because your part is over yeah say bye austin say bye overall the camera quality here is decent for photos and videos we've got three 12 megapixel sensors here and they're actually the same as the last generation but from what i've seen with some friends of mine there has definitely been some software improvements so you can expect slightly better photos if you're upgrading from the z-fold too the photos and videos are definitely passable and do the job but they aren't on par with the shots you get from the s21 line now we ended our day with about five hours of screen on time and i'd say my experience has been typically around four to five hours of usage and you'd think that a bigger phone like this would be able to pack a super huge battery or something but at only 4 400 milliamp hours you end up with some pretty average battery life but when you think about the displays this thing is pushing though you can't be too mad at it i gotta say i've been enjoying my time with the z-fold 3. this is definitely a phone you buy after putting some thought into it though there are a lot of things to get accustomed to with this kind of design but you'll be able to do things that you simply can't on any other smartphone i find myself enjoying it more and more but i do think this one's for enthusiasts rather than the average person just looking to upgrade their device it also carries a pretty hefty price tag compared to other high-end devices but this one is cheaper than the last generation it's definitely going to be interesting to see how this line grows and develops i think after using the z-fold 3 samsung has absolutely caught my attention with this line but i can't wait to see where it goes but that about wraps it up for this video guys hopefully you enjoyed it if you did be the cool guy girl that gives this video a thumbs up i'm gonna catch you guys in the next one till then it's your average consumer peacewhat's going on guys travis consumer and today we're going to be spending a real day in the life with the new samsung galaxy z fold 3. now today we are actually going to be testing out a lot of stuff because i don't have a ton of experience with the full devices i haven't really used them for extensive periods of time but i've been pressure off the display and not cause any damage from use if you're a fan of the s-pen you'll be able to take advantage of all the features that it brings to the table but carrying it around alongside the fold seems to be the only downside in my eyes there is a case that allows you to carry it with the phone but that combo is going to cost you about 80 bucks i will say though it's better to have the extra functionality for those who want it rather than not have it at all alright guys we're back home just finished eating some food i've been on social media for a little bit and like you'd expect from instagram they haven't made a tablet version of the app but there is a setting that you can toggle on so you can go into settings jump into labs and you can customize app aspect ratio and in here you can go to instagram which defaults to 16x9 we're just going to make that full screen and now when we go into instagram boom what's great about this is that usually when you close the phone and let's say you were to jump back into instagram it would require a reset uh but now it'll just allow you to just jump right back in you wouldn't need to reset the app because it kind of just follows the same aspect ratio so this this is the way to do it pro tip now when it comes to the screen this size of course you want large full screen apps but if you want to do multiple apps at once you can also have the multitasking so you can just jump into like a video and then do a search whose searches are oh these are trending searches i'd like to say my search history up here yeah if you rotate pretty much does the same thing now undeniably this thing is a folding screen right so you've got this little bend in the screen i'm not gonna lie when i first got this device it stuck out like a sore thumb i am getting really really used to it it's kind of like the notch where the notch you know it's there it's in your face but after using the device for a while it kind of just blends into the entire phone so that's the same experience here now when you're watching a youtube video well when you're watching any video you can expect it to be maybe a little bit annoying so we got our man danny working on his gains over here and you know when you've got a lot of light so we've got this big old light up here i can see the reflections of the light on this strip on the bend and that's annoying when i'm like this right now against the light where the light's not shining on it looks completely fine to me now let's face this side and you see that you see that but for the most part watching it dead on just fine and check this out guys so let's say you're watching content right you can actually take advantage of the fact that this is a folding device and then boom you can watch your content like this this is how i would watch content while eating we'll talk about how this works with the camera too and remember we kind of talked about the best way to hold the device while watching something so check this out so once you have it on the table you hear it a lot clearer when the speakers are placed on the table versus the other way around you just don't get that little sound boost that you get from it being on the table and one last thing while we're here there's a labs feature that you can access to get some more controls when you're in this view it's called the what is it the flex zone panel flex motor panel the flex mode panel which we're trusting j flex zone sounds cooler so you can actually turn this on and when you go into certain apps like let's say crunchyroll you have access to these controls down here so let's say you're eating and you know you're not trying to tap on the screen a bunch you can actually just go right here you can control the brightness take a screenshot oh that's your notifications and you can control your volume now in some apps you'll also get the play and pause controls so like you see right here in spotify you get all those same controls but you're playing pause button right there as well i don't know jay i feel like this is growing on me so yeah i think so the only thing that's missing for me is the fact that it doesn't have all the cameras that like the s21 ultra has i know a lot of people who got the fold and instantly fell in love no instant love here i i'm still trying to get used to the concept but little by little yeah you know jay you don't fall in love on the first date man i do you you you did oh jay that's so sweet i'm telling michaela doing my everyday things is becoming more and more enjoyable as i get used to the fold gaming with a bigger display whenever i want at 120 hertz has definitely won me over i played way too many mobile games and honestly this thing is adding fuel to the fire now we did talk a little bit about the front-facing cameras on this uh but now let's talk about the rear camera so you know we got the best subject in the world cookie monster over here what's up cookie like yo what's going on he's like why are you pulling up on me like that let's uh get a picture of her and there we go oh man nice and nice and sharp let's actually use the bigger display jay we can do this now so this is a clean image this is very clean look at this guy he's eating food right now we'll we'll get back to him in a second look at that all right all right let me stop being a dad you can of course use the bigger screen to take pictures it'll give you a better idea of what you're taking a shot of so you don't have to feel bad like you know people take pictures with their tablets this is not quite like that okay i'd say this is just a bigger viewfinder it's not as bad as using an actual tablet let's do a portrait mode shot of you girl cookie you want a treat ah i said the magic word that's not a bad portrait mode shot you can clearly see where the blur effect comes into play like right about here it does a good job on this side why are you turning away her muzzle is all covered up okay that's actually really clean i like that these are great nice portrait mode shots so it looks like dinner time with austin has just ended austin how was dinner no not so great you don't like what i made you're telling on the chef um yeah yeah looks looks like a dinner with austin cool now this is the z-fold obviously so we can actually prop this thing up take the shutter button you gotta look at the camera buddy smile nice and wildly we got a good shot so you can take great shots like that good job austin give me five i'm stepping all in your food right now so this is great so if you want to take like a group photo or something you don't want to leave the camera man out you can go ahead prop this thing onto something set the timer and just run in and get your shot this kind of thing is going to be great for time lapses as well anything that you just need the camera to stay stationary and get a shot you'll be able to pull that off so that's a nice little bonus having an extra screen or i guess an extra portion of the screen it's like a built-in tripod so guys that pretty much i know buddy thanks for putting it on my face i love it i love it so much so i'm gonna go give this guy a bath so he can get into bed you ready to go to bed no it's a little too bad huh let's go take a bath say goodbye to the people because your part is over yeah say bye austin say bye overall the camera quality here is decent for photos and videos we've got three 12 megapixel sensors here and they're actually the same as the last generation but from what i've seen with some friends of mine there has definitely been some software improvements so you can expect slightly better photos if you're upgrading from the z-fold too the photos and videos are definitely passable and do the job but they aren't on par with the shots you get from the s21 line now we ended our day with about five hours of screen on time and i'd say my experience has been typically around four to five hours of usage and you'd think that a bigger phone like this would be able to pack a super huge battery or something but at only 4 400 milliamp hours you end up with some pretty average battery life but when you think about the displays this thing is pushing though you can't be too mad at it i gotta say i've been enjoying my time with the z-fold 3. this is definitely a phone you buy after putting some thought into it though there are a lot of things to get accustomed to with this kind of design but you'll be able to do things that you simply can't on any other smartphone i find myself enjoying it more and more but i do think this one's for enthusiasts rather than the average person just looking to upgrade their device it also carries a pretty hefty price tag compared to other high-end devices but this one is cheaper than the last generation it's definitely going to be interesting to see how this line grows and develops i think after using the z-fold 3 samsung has absolutely caught my attention with this line but i can't wait to see where it goes but that about wraps it up for this video guys hopefully you enjoyed it if you did be the cool guy girl that gives this video a thumbs up i'm gonna catch you guys in the next one till then it's your average consumer peace\n"
