The Beats by Dre Studio 3 Wireless headphones are the latest flagship model of the company's line, and they're looking pretty sharp with their sleek design and bold red color.
So, how do these headphones sound? Well, I've tried several other Beats models before, but unfortunately, they didn't quite live up to my expectations. The current Studio 3 Wireless headphones seem a bit...meh. They don't have the same level of bass punch as some of the other Beats models I've tried, like the Solos or EPs.
But, it's worth noting that these headphones do come with a carrying case and are priced around $200, which is significantly cheaper than their retail price of $300. The carrying case is actually quite nice-looking and feels sturdy.
In terms of fit, the Studio 3 Wireless headphones are going to be an over-ear design, which should make them more comfortable for longer listening sessions. However, they do seem a bit tighter on my head than I'd like, and it's possible that they might cause some discomfort for people with larger ears or hearing sensitivities.
The headphones come equipped with Apple's W1 chip, which allows for seamless integration with Apple devices, and are powered by MicroUSB. They also include a 3.5mm headphone cable and come in red to match your super cool Beats.
When you turn on the Studio 3 Wireless headphones, they default to noise cancellation mode, but you can also toggle it on and off using a button on the side of the headphones. Additionally, if you're not using an iPhone, you can use a command on the headphone to toggle noise cancellation on or off.
Now, I have to admit that I was a bit surprised by how these headphones sounded. My last experience with Beats headphones was a while ago, and unfortunately, they didn't exactly live up to my expectations. They sounded muddy and lacking in punch. But, it seems like the Studio 3 Wireless headphones might be a different story.
After listening to them for a while, I have to say that they do sound pretty good. They've got plenty of bass and a nice balance of frequencies. However, there's one model that really stands out from the rest: the Sony WH1000XM2 wireless noise-cancelling headphones.
These headphones are widely regarded as some of the best-sounding Bluetooth headphones on the market, and for good reason. They not only have excellent noise cancellation, but they also come with an ambient mode that lets you tune in to your surroundings without completely turning off the music.
The Sony WH1000XM2 wireless headphones sound like a great pair of headphones all around. However, it's worth noting that they're priced at $350, which is significantly more than the Beats Studio 3 Wireless headphones. But, if you're looking for the best possible listening experience, these might be worth considering.
In conclusion, while the Beats by Dre Studio 3 Wireless headphones are a great option for those who want a stylish and affordable pair of wireless headphones, there's no denying that they don't quite live up to the standard set by other models like the Sony WH1000XM2. But, if you're looking for a good balance between style and sound quality, these headphones might be worth checking out.
WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: en- Hey guys, this is Austin, and today I have one questionand one question only, why do Beats by Dre exist? So in front of me, I havenearly the entire lineupof current Beats products.Everything from the Beats EPall the way up the Studio 3s.So if you're an audiophile, you're probably not goingto be interested in Beats at all, however in 2018 I'mcurious to see how muchthings have changed as actually someof these were a littlebit surprising to me.Case in point, the Beats EP.Now, actually, we did doa video on these a coupleyears ago when they first came out.You can think of these basicallyas the entry level Beats. At a $130 retail, usuallybetween 90 to 100 bucksactually in stores, they're about the cheapestBeats you can get your hands on.Like most Beats, they do feel pretty nice.So not only do you havethis metal ear mechanism, which is going to be ableto adjust in and out,but the entire Beats are going to be madewith soft touch plastic, somepretty nice feeling ear cups. They definitely do feel their price.Whether they sound their priceis a different story however. For some background, I'mgoing to be listeningon a Google Pixel 2 using aUSB-C to headphone adapter. Now, this might not be thehighest end audio setup, but this is the way that Iwould typically listen to music. The EPs are only availablein a wired versionwhereas pretty muchall the other Beats I'mtaking a look at are going to be wireless. Now, as far as listening to music,I'm going to be using Spotifystreaming 320 kilobit MP3s.Whoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo, I mean, the bass. There's a lotta bass, there's a lotta bass, but for hip hop especially,it's not going to be bad,as you expect by Dre's headphones.Yeah, yeah, yeah so youget to another kinda track, which is going to giveyou a little bit moreof a balanced sound where there's actuallysome differentiationbetween the lows, the mids, and the highs, and you seethey get a little bit muddy, especially in the mids. They sound good, I mean, don't get me wrong.I feel like a lot of peoplecould pick up this pairof headphones, put iton, and it's like, wow,you know, there's so muchbass and it's so punchy, but if you want something that's goingto be a little bit more balanced, these are probably not goingto be your best option.Which is where this comes in.This is a pair of Status Audio CB-1s.If you've watched the channel for a while, you've probably seen me recommend thesemany, many, many times, and that's for good reason. This is a pair of headphones that livesin my bag every single day. Now, these aren't goingto be completely neutral. There is going to be someaccentuation of the bass, but they're, in general, going to be much, much flatterand much more even thansomething like the Beats. Now, the main reason Ilike these guys is not onlybecause they do have an over ear design, something that I findcomfortable when I'm doing longerediting sessions or listening to music, but they're also really affordable. At 60 bucks, it is difficultif not basically impossibleto find a better pair ofheadphones than these.Yeah, so, you know what?I'm gonna be completely honest with you.I am a little bit biased because I listento these headphones somuch, I do like the sound. But I think the biggest difference here isthat while, no, they'renot going to kick youin the face with that bass, you are going to be ableto hear the full song. There's nothing that'sgoing to be super muddy. It's a lot clearer of a sound andthat's something, personally, that I like a lot.Next up, we have the BeatsXs.Now, this is going to bethe first in their lineof wireless headphones, and, as you can see,as they're sort of the earbud stylethey're going to be a lot smaller, but still promise thatsame super-punchy sound. So as Beats by Dre is owned by Apple now, there's a couple of interesting thingsabout the BeatsX that dotake advantage of that.First of all, they aregoing to be chargingwith a Lightning connectoras opposed to MicroUSB,so if you already have an iPhone itmakes it a little bit simpler. And they also do have theApple W1 wireless chip. Now, that's actually a big dealif you do have an iOS or a Mac.An iOS, an iOS device? Can you have an iOS, is an iOS a thing?I don't think that's a thing.Although, if you do have an Android phoneor, well, anything else they'll still worklike normal headphones, it's just an addedbenefit if you do have an iOS.I'm gonna stop making that joke.(laughing)One of the nice parts about the W1 chip isthat literally all I had to dowas pull these outta the box, press the button, and I'mable to connect them and theywill be good not only on my phone, but also on anything elsethat uses my Apple ID.Okay, there's still bass.(laughing)So something else, that these actuallydo a really good job ofis isolate you from sound. Now, it does depend on the ear tips. You do need to make surethey fit well in your ears, but if you get a good pairthey actually do a really goodjob of blocking everything else out, especially if you're going to do somethinglike the gym or whatever, they should work pretty well.To really test these out, though, I'm gonna see if Ican get them to come out of my ears.Nope.And now this giant thing is in the way.Can I do like jumping jacks?I haven't done thesesince I was like seven.I was just trying to think of like--My normal workouts don'tinvolve anything crazy.Maybe if you're like running or something? They fit pretty well, but themain competitor to somethinglike BeatsX is actuallygoing to also be from Apple. The Apple AirPods are one of myfavorite pairs of headphones. It's almost like a trend oflike I'm taking my favoriteheadphones against Beatsin this video or something. What makes AirPods specialis they're, of course, going to be fully wireless little earbuds. So if you've ever listenedto the stock headphonesthat come with an iPhone you'llprobably be pretty familiarwith how these sound, definitely not great. But it's hard to arguewith having somethingthat's no wires, no cables,it's going to be fully passingthe workout test as long asthey actually fit in your ears. And they also do comewith a charging case, which makes everything super simple. The real pitch for AirPodsis not necessarily goingto be in sound quality, but convenience.Next up, we have the Beats Solo3 Wireless. Now, when most people thinkabout Beats by Dre headphonesthey think of these headphones. Now, you can say a lot aboutBeats by Dre headphones, but something they always deliveris a nice unboxing experience.Change the way you hear sound.Well, yeah, I guess that's a thing. You might have to do that.(laughing)So if you open up the carryingcase what you're goingto find is actually a prettynice looking pair of Solos. So that is something that I definitelycannot take away from Beats. They do look nice.So whether it's to yourparticular taste or notis completely up to you,but I do get why a lotof people will pick these guys out moreas a fashion statement than somethingthat's going to be purely for audio. You do also get the 3.5 millimeter cable,so if you don't wanna use them wirelesslyyou can just plug them in.Assuming your phone still hasa headphone jack, of course.Build quality-wise,they feel pretty decent. So Beats by Dre are known for, maybe, subtly enhancing thedesign of their headphoneswith some strategically-placed heavy metalto make them feel more premium. But, generally speaking, they feel all right, however, I've had plentyof occasions where peoplehave shown me their broken Solos,so your mileage might vary on that one.(sighing)All right, wow.I'd forgotten, it's been awhile since I've worn Solos.I'd forgotten how tightthey are on your head.I mean, I don't think I havethat big of a head, do I?I can say that all theBeats I've tried so fararen't quite as punchy as those EPs.Now, don't get me wrong, there's definitely a lotof bass here, but it'snot quite as overpowering.Man, I wore those for like two minutesand my ears are alreadylike sore and sweaty. It's no contest so far.I feel like the Solossound better than anyof the other Beats I've tried. So one of the interestingthings about these guysis that while they retail at $300,you can actually pick themup for closer to 200 andthat is not the case for thecomparison that I have in mind. Now, that is a much nicerlooking carrying case.(taps case with knuckles)So the Beats Studio 3 Wireless are goingto be the flagship of the line,as long as you don't count the Beats Pro,which are sort of moreDJ headphones, I guess. But these, oh man, that's red. Now, for the all important doesthis actually make my head hurt?A little bit, it's a littlebit on the tighter side as faras the fit, but it also isgoing to be an over ear design, which is going to bea lot more comfortableand it's not squishing myears like the Solos did. That's not bad.So these guys are going to, of course, have that Apple W1 chipand there are going to,if we go into the box, bepowered by MicroUSB and comewith the same 3.5millimeter headphone cable, although, thankfully, this one's goingto be in red to matchyour super cool Beats. So when you turn on the Studio 3s,they do default to havingthe noise canceling on,but if you jump into theoptions you can turn themon and off, and you canalso use a button commandon the side if you arenot using an iPhone.Okay, so I'm gonna becompletely real with you,the last time I listened toStudios was a long time ago. They just sound muddy.Like these headphonesshould cost $350 retail. Now, to be fair we wereable to pick these upfor 220 bucks and, generally speaking, they are on sale for a lotless than that, but ugh.Man.I'm a little surprised.I legitimately feel likethe Solos sound a lot betterand I'll tell you what almostdefinitely sounds better. The wonderfully-named Sony WH1000Xm2's.Now, these are widely regarded as someof the nicest, best-soundingBluetooth headphoneson the market, and, well, they're pretty much right. Now, in addition to thestandard noise cancellation, which sounds prettygood, there's also goingto be an ambient modeso you can turn that onwith a button on the headphones, but the easier way to do itis while you're listeningto music, if you just puta hand over the ear cup,it's going to beep at you,and not only does it dimthe actual volume of yourmusic or turn it down. Can you dim music, I don'tthink you can dim music.Anyway, regardless, you aregoing to not only be ableto turn your music volume down, but it also turns on themicrophone on the headphonesso you can actually moreeasily hear your environment.Take your hand off the headphone, and your music comesup to the full volume.Really clever stuff.Okay, first of all, they actually soundlike a good, balanced pair of headphones. There's plenty of bass. There's plenty of accentuation on sortof the nicer, more punchyparts of the music, but, importantly, as I accidentallytrigger Google Assistant, they're honestly goingto be able to just soundlike a good solid pair of headphones, but they are going to be more expensive. So while the MSRP for bothof these guys is goingto be a pretty pricey$350, these guys, well, they actually cost 350 bucks. The Beats can be found for as littleas 220 for the Studio 3s.Now, that might not sound like a bad deal, but don't do that, just a bad idea.Get these guys, orsomething else honestly. So why do Beats by Dre exist in 2018,well, because people keep buying them. And I actually do see some reasonswhy you might wanna pick them up.The style is obviouslysomething that's goingto be very subjective, andthanks to all the sales,a lot of these are actually much moreaffordable than they used to be.That being said, whilesome of them are not badlike the Solos and eventhe EPs if you wantsome really punchy headphones, you can pretty muchalways get something that'sgoing to sound betterfor the same money if not less.
