**Setting Up and Executing the Game**
The game setup is designed to promote high-intensity play with an emphasis on finishing, reacting quickly, and executing quick transitions. The 30-yard wide field provides a compact playing area, allowing players to move quickly and respond to each other's movements. The depth of the field is set at a total gain of 40 yards, with 25 yards allocated to the center third and 10 yards to either side. This setup allows for increased intensity and fast-paced action.
The game objective is to combine quickly in central areas to score goals while utilizing wire players as potential crossing opportunities or cut-backs. The team in possession must use this overload to create a 5v3 situation, where the opposing team struggles to defend effectively. By winning the ball back, the team encourages counter-pressing and quick transitions towards goal.
**Starting with the Blues**
The session begins with the blues in possession of the ball. They are tasked with driving into score, either through direct passing or using space to create opportunities. If they choose not to drive forward, they can use their players to combine around opponents, creating scoring chances. The coach will provide guidance and support, while the players must execute their movements quickly and decisively.
If the blues do manage to score, they retain possession of the ball and continue to attack. However, if they fail to score, the opposing team takes over in possession. The greens then employ a 3v3 setup, using wire plays to create space and scoring opportunities. They look to drive into central areas, utilizing their attackers' speed and decision-making to create scoring chances.
**Maintaining Intensity**
To maintain the high-intensity nature of the game, rest periods are introduced every two minutes. This allows players to recover from physical exertion and maintain focus throughout the session. The coaches will adjust the gameplay accordingly, taking into account the players' energy levels and fatigue.
During these rest periods, players can engage in stretching exercises or other light activities to help them stay focused and refreshed. The coaches will monitor player performance closely, making adjustments as necessary to ensure that the game remains engaging and challenging for all participants.
**Key Concepts and Strategies**
Throughout the session, key concepts such as combining quickly, reacting to scoring opportunities, and executing quick transitions are emphasized. Players must develop their decision-making skills, using their intuition and spatial awareness to create scoring chances.
The use of wire players is highlighted as a valuable strategy, allowing teams to create space and score goals through clever movement and passing. The importance of counter-pressing and quick transitions is also stressed, as these tactics can create significant advantages in terms of possession and scoring opportunities.
**Conclusion**
In conclusion, this session focuses on high-intensity gameplay, emphasizing the importance of combining quickly, reacting to scoring opportunities, and executing rapid transitions. By introducing rest periods and adjusting gameplay accordingly, coaches can maintain a high level of intensity throughout the session, ensuring that players are challenged and engaged throughout.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwelcome to session sunday hi guys it's jack edwards and today's video is going to be focusing around finishing but before we get into this week's video make sure to leave us a like and subscribe and if you missed last week's video click on the link above okay so moving into the first part of this week's session we're going to be moving into a pattern of play which is then going to be focusing on finishing but before we get into it let's have a look how many players we're working with this week and the equipment that we'll be using so in terms of players for this week we wouldn't have a group of nine players including the goalkeeper so eight outfield players but we can adapt that for more players as well okay so if you have 10 or 12 players you're just adding players into um different areas so when the first or we'll explain where you can have players in and then part two and three as well in terms of the equipment uh quite simple this week we're just gonna be using balls bibs and cones and then we'll be using obviously a goal for the goalkeepers being if you don't have a goalkeeper like we spoke about before trying obviously if you've got an extra coach or a parent or even a volunteer that can go in uh for that if you don't then still don't have a goalkeeper just try and mark out certain areas of the goal for the players where you might which can be given for more points especially when we go into the small side of the game now in terms of the setup for this part of the session we're going to be having 40 yards a total depth okay so from the goal line here to this phase player in here it's going to be 20 yards and i'm having a fair five yards toward to these other central players in here and then it's 15 yards to the star point here okay so you can have a further five between five and ten yards but here between the y player as well and then in terms of width we're going 50 yards across so the central area here between these two players is 10 yards and then from um the central play here towards the star pointers are fair the 10 yards and then affair the 10 yards to the y player so it's basically 20 yards for each team either side okay and then 10 yards centrally so in terms of how we split the group up for this past it's going to be two groups of four so again if you have 10 players or 12 you can just have more players and at the start point you can even add in defenders to act as decoys maybe after they've finished so it encourages because we're going to work on a good face touch to finish so that encourages again that good first touch so we've got four blues and four greens so how the pattern is is going to work is that the ball is going to start here at the starting we're the deepest airplayers so as if it's midfielder they're going to take a touch away from the body okay and then what we're looking for is this player here who's going to be acting as if it's the striker or even an attack midfielder they're looking to come in short okay to set the ball okay to the winger who's going to come off the line okay so as this player sets that ball they're looking to come off the line to receive it and then they're going to they're going to be going as if they're going to spin out wide to create that space in behind a defense as that player the ball is traveling to the winger okay the winger is then looking to set the ball into the attack midfielder or again it can be another striker who's moved out into space and we're trying to get them then to play first time so setting that ball in behind the defense for the y player to sprint onto to touch and then finish okay so how our movement is going to work in here is that the player at the start point will move wide okay the player who was wide goes to be this at the setter in here so as if it's the striker the striker then moves to be the attack midfielder and the attack midfielder moves back to the star point and because they are the team so the other group the greens will then go off the blues it gives them enough time to get back in position so again we're going from here this player comes in short setter to the wide man who comes in off the line as that's happening they're spinning up wide okay so this plays creating that space to go through centrally the attack midfielder drops off receives the ball set in face time if we can and then we're looking for this winger the players come off that wide angle layer to drive into space quickly okay and then look to finish or being clinical in there so it could be a touch and finish depending on where the ball lands it could be a first time finish depending on where the keeper's positioning as well okay it depends on how quickly one thumbs finish but we're looking for them to be decisive okay and not taking too many touches so as soon as they've took a touch or they can see where they want to finish doing it quickly and not hesitating we will now move into our first animation before moving on to part two of this week's session now moving into part two of this week's session we're now moving into a finishing circuit okay so we're going to be putting our group into pairs okay and they're going to be going two at a time okay we're going to be having six finishes so we're doing it from different angles working on our movements okay and how we can um combine with each other as well to create opportunities to score so in terms of the setup we're gonna have two players starting on the goal line here okay we're gonna have two players starting 10 yards either side of this box in here and then a player starting five to ten yards behind this line in here and then we're gonna have a defender okay who's actually gonna be involved as well for most of the time it's just a decoy defender so someone's a player around okay they're just gonna be starting just outside this box so the box is going to be 20 yards starting from goal and it's going to be 10 yards there so it's going to be going from 20 to 30 yards away from goal and in terms of the width i'd say no more than 15 yards it doesn't need to be any bigger than that so we're gonna have six finishes so two from here two from wide one ball coming from as if it's from midfield and then one where we're going to be having a 2v1 again airbase the defender so the first finish the first two finishes sorry is going to be a ball getting drilled in or if you're working with your hungry troops okay it can just be played along the floor a little bit later but obviously we're trying to encourage a good first touch set and then a finish so as this ball gets played in to one of the players so we're going to see this player is going to finish first okay we're then looking for the other player to go in a position to receive it so this ball is getting clipped in okay we're looking for a set first time so they can either move into this area here it's a setback but we're looking for them to use that defender so moving into step in front of the defender to take them off the game a little bit okay because if we move out here and this defender is not moving okay you see so then it would then give them an opportunity in the game to then try and intercept but obviously if you want the defense move to move around that's fine as well so as that ball gets fizzed into this player here we're looking for the pl the opposite player so they're as if it's like they're forward and it could be like a two forwards an attack midfielder forward to move get set in then we're looking for them to set it into space for the players move on touch and finish or even finish first time however the ball set for them so again having that that quick decisive uh decision making to finish quickly as soon as that finish is done the next player here will receive the ball okay so then we're looking for the other player to finish so once this player is finished in here okay they're looking to get themselves in and around the defender here so the ball when they get fizzed in again gets set in okay this this player again as long as you put it into space for the other players move on to it doesn't have to go that way it can be whatever so you're trying to put it into space but also favoring the player so knowing what your players are know what force to know my foot yard as well again get get whip this player goes in strikes to finish this the players then moved out then okay so now what we're looking for is why players are going to get it so we're going to start with this play here so the player who's finished will then set it so they're going to drop in short set it for the player to move in again and finish so we're just receiving off different angles okay the fourth finish is the same so then this player will have scored to the player comes in dropping in to space looking to set the ball either side for the player to move on to and now the first time finish again or a touch and finish but we're looking to put it into space to encourage that first time finish especially with the goalkeeper being able to come out as well and then the fifth finish starts with this midfielder here so the player is finished in there okay we'll drop in so it gets played into this player and then they're looking to drive so the defender becomes active again now so what looking forward is our support run okay so as this player drives into space can this player peel off into space can they occupy the defender so then they can either receive it okay or they can take the defender out and this player has the confidence to drive into space and then to score and then finally the sixth finish the ball starts with this defender here plays into one of the two players and then it becomes a 2v1 okay so again it's a 2v1 in terms of instead of having the ball getting played in front midfield it's coming from that final third okay so it's reacting quickly and we're both starting in the same position so again it could be this play drives in this player spins around or this player takes it wide so then we're looking for the defender are they going to close down or they're going to occupy try and prevent the other player getting the ball so they're trying to delay us and slow us down and we're trying to score as quick as we can so we're trying to play at speed then they're trying to reduce the speed that we move at so again this player could eventually defend the jumps out gets played in and then we score then after the six finishes any two players so if you want to put them in pairs they will just swap over with somebody else and you can swap the defender over as well they will have their goal with finishing so you want each group to kind of have two a minimum two goals each okay so it doesn't take very long to do and again if you have more players you can just add in different finishes or a rest period for each for the players after they've finished instead of going and to be passers of the ball after that we will now move into our second animation before moving on to the final part of this week's session okay so moving into the final part of this week's session when i move into a small side of the game which is going to be focused on high intensity so finishing and reacting and then quick transitions so for the setup for this part of the session we're going to be going with 30 yards a total depth or gain 40 yards a total width we're gonna have 20 yards a width centrally and then 10 yards either side okay for the kind of floaters so that's why i placed to be in and then in the same depth this can be increased and decrease depending on how many players that you've got so we're gonna have 25 yards in here 20 yards might be enough depending on the age group that you're working with okay and then five yards here for this end zone so we're gonna have a three v3 with wire plays out here so what we're looking for is to combine quickly and central areas to score for the team in possession but they're also using the wire players can be for crossing opportunities cut backs okay but again using that overload to create a 5v3 okay so we're spread out across the pitch then as well and it's more difficult for the opposition to defend when the greens win the ball back they're looking to dribble or receive the ball into the end zone to then become the attacking team so that encourage encourages when we lose the ball to counter press so transition quickly because then if we do win the ball in this final third we've got a quick route towards goal okay so we'll start with the blues because they've got the ball looking to drive into score option might not be on to go through so can we play around then we can get by these in the box board gets delivered can we score if we score get the ball again okay off the coach and we go from there that's it we get the ball in again okay we can we can use them y players and to combine ball comes in centrally we get a player moving in behind to receive the ball and then we finish okay so what you want to try and do though is the games will be intense so you don't want to run them for too long because the players become more fatigued so you want to go for two minutes and then have two minutes rest then two minutes again then stop again again it could be dependent on you might do first to five goals or however you want to do but you don't want to have the players moving for too long because the intensity will just drop and drop and drop where you want to try and maintain that for as long as you can by having rest periods in between so then again if the blues try and go through they try and score play might go 1v1 the greens tackle they can use the outside players to combine okay so they can then get the ball get into space they look to dribble to score as soon as that happens there's our transition so the greens are then in possession that counts as a goal for them as well okay because to go from the final third and here to get through the line of pressure to move forward it's a great it's a great passage of play so we're going to count that as a goal both then gets played into the greens they're looking to do the same thing drive into space okay attacking with that intent okay with that speed and then again that decision making to get in towards the goal move quickly to then score as soon as we scored we get the ball again okay so we're trying to use these y players these y players always being an option okay so center that when a play moves out can they come to space play might drop in get the ball around the corner and then we look to score so again for the players it's reacting to scoring both the attackers and the defensive defenders not letting the heads drop okay and could see them more and more goals for the attackers going and punishing them okay and staying on that front foot to score again we will now move into our final animation before concluding this week's session thanks for watching this week's video don't forget to head over to our website where you can sign up to view all of our exclusive content and
