Apple’s NEW Mac Pro Will Have an Intel Processor TWIA 7-31-21

**Apple's Earnings and Guidance: A Mixed Bag**

What Apple Expected But Apple Still Cited COVID as the Reason They Are Not Providing Guidance There's Too Much Fluctuation Still Going On in the World That Apple's Not Able to Provide a Solid Number for Guidance So That Could Be One Reason Apple Also Cited the Chip Shortage That Was Still Going On in Work Shortages That Are Contributing to Specifically iPhone and iPad Production As We're Going into an iPhone Quarter and Hearing That Apple May Have A Struggle Meeting Demand of iPhone That's Definitely Not Something That Investors Want to Hear. Apple Still Says They're Expecting a Lot of Growth In The Corner Double-Digit Growth In The September Quarter So It's Not Like Apple's Going to Do Poorly By Any Means Still Double-Digit Growth Is What They're Expecting But There Was Still Cause For Investors To Drop That Stock Uh You Know A Couple Percentage Points Or So In Aftermarket Trading Since Then Things Have Gotten Better And Levied Out Uh In Apple Stock Even When They Do Well Still Seems to Go Down A Little Bit Right After Earning or Announced Despite Them Beating Analyst Expectations By Like 10 Billion Dollars.

**Earnings from Spotify and Facebook**

This Week We Also Saw Earnings Coming in From Spotify As Well As Facebook And I Found This Again Particularly Interesting Spotify Missed Subscriber Expectations So It Was A Little Bit Down But Facebook's Earnings Went Relatively Well Despite The Company Whining So Profusely That Apple's Analytics Blocking Was Going to Tank Their Income So Despite Apple Allowing Customers The Choice To Choose Whether Or Not They Are Tracked By Third-Party Applications Facebook Seemingly Did Well Enough. Other News Stories of the Week Apple Continues To Crack Down on Leakers Especially This Time In China We Saw A Prominent Leaker Getting A Letter From Apple Uh Basically Saying To Reveal Your Sources Or You Will Be Prosecuted The Leaker Has Showing Off A Bunch Of Unreleased iPhones And Such Like That There's A Whole Underground Network Coming Out of China People Through Foxconn or Apple That Are Stealing Parts And Giving Them Two Leakers Who Are Showing Them Off And Apple Has Been Really Pushing Lately.

**Apple's Mac Pro: Intel's Ice Lake Xeon W 3300 CPUs**

We Also Saw That Apple's New Mac Pro Is Said To Use Intel's Ice Lake Xeon W 3300 CPUs Not Apple Silicon Right Away So Apple's Still In This Two-Year Transition To Apple Silicon And The Mac Pro Is Of Course Going To Be Pretty Much The Last One To Make The Jump To Apple Silicon. Apple Started Out With The M1 Which Is A Very Consumer Level Processor Prioritizing Battery Life As Well As Performance But Really You Know Mobile Portability All of That With That Processor It Doesn't Really Have Support For More Than One More Than Two Thunderbolt Ports On There It Also Is Capped At 32 Gigs Of Ram And Something Like That Would Never Work In A Mac Pro That Can Handle Way More Than That So Apple Was Definitely Need A Newer Processor To Go Into The Mac Pro We Didn't Know When It Was Going To Arrive But It Looks Like Apple May Eek Out One More Intel Mac Pro Before Transitioning Or Even At The Same Time Maybe They'll Introduce An Intel And An Apple Silicon At The Same Time Allowing Pro Customers The Choice To Choose Which Route They Would Prefer To Go Down.

**Apple's iOS 15 and iPadOS 15: Safari Changes**

Our Final Story Of the Week That I Want to Talk About Is Apple's At Betas Apple Did Release The Next Beta of iOS 15 As Well As iPadOS 15 And The Rest Of The Lineup HomePod Apple TV Mac All Of That Has Come Out And What Is Really Interesting Is That Apple Is Really Waffling With Safari On Mobile Uh This Time In The Latest Beta Apple Is Actually Reverting Safari To The Old Tabbed Interface On iPad So An iPad OS 15 Beta 4 Apple Is Reverting It To The Old Tabbed Interface But They've Added A New Toggle Within Settings Where You Can Go Between The New Compact UI Or The Older Tabbed Interface So You Have The Choice Now To Choose Between Those Which One You Prefer But Apple Really Haven't Been Able To Stick With The Safari Changes We Saw More Safari Changes Coming to iPhone Including The Change of The Share Button And The Refresh Button A Lot Is Really Changing So We Have No Idea Where Safari Is Going To End Up When It Ships This Fall. Let Me Know What You Guys Think Are There Other Stories That You Want to Hear About Let Me Know Over On Twitter At Andrew Undersosu And Stay Tuned There's Always So Much More Video Coming You

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwelcome everyone to apple insider it is andrew here and you are watching this week in apple where i round up the best apple news stories of the week and we have of course plenty to talk about in this week's episode the headlining story is apple's earnings apple shattered wall street expectations by a significant amount like 10 billion more than what analysts were expecting for q3 2021 apple brought in 81.4 billion dollars which is up 36 year over year the headline gets reported quite a bit but what i was particularly interested in is where apple's money is coming from what is the product breakdown that gets apple to billion dollars in the last few months well apple is still raking in the majority of its share from iphone iphone is still bringing in 49 of all of apple's earnings that's a monstrous amount i mean 81 billion and half of that is relegated to iphone but don't worry everything else is still pulling their weight apple is bringing in 11 billion from wearables so that includes the apple watch here but it also includes apple's other categories such as the homepod or the home category which includes apple tv as well so you have apple watch homepod apple tv all of that lumped into wearables for 11 21 of apple's revenue is coming from services such as your app store itunes apple music apple tv plus and other services that apples offers you know that poultry 99 cents a month you're paying for icloud storage well it's going into apple 21 of services revenue the mac is still coming in at a strong 10 of apple income and ipad is following up with 9 i find that very interesting that services services that apple offers is outpacing the mac and ipad together mac and ipad are still selling like crazy but apple services are still pulling in at above both of those categories together despite apple in bringing in that whopping 81 and some billion dollars in beating wall street expectations by a ton apple's shares still fell in after market trading which is always odd when apple does so well and yet their shares are dropping this can likely be attributed though to lucas mystery apple cfo who said on the earnings call that apple would not be providing guidance once more for the upcoming quarter this is of course the upcoming iphone quarter most likely and we were expecting possibly to see some guidance which would give us some idea on iphone sales on what apple expected but apple still cited covid as the reason they are not providing guidance there's too much fluctuation still going on in the world that apple's not able to provide a solid number for guidance so that could be one reason apple also cited the chip shortage that was still going on in work shortages that are contributing to specifically iphone and ipad production as we're going into an iphone quarter and hearing that apple may have a struggle meeting demand of iphone that's definitely not something that investors want to hear apple still says they're expecting a lot of growth in the corner double-digit growth in the september quarter so it's not like apple's going to do poorly by any means still double-digit growth is what they're expecting but there was still cause for investors to drop that stock uh you know a couple percentage points or so in aftermarket trading since then things have gotten better and leveled out uh in apple stock even when they do well still seems to go down a little bit right after earning or announced despite them beating analyst expectations by like 10 billion dollars speaking of earnings this week we also saw earnings coming in from spotify as well as facebook and i found this again particularly interesting spotify missed subscriber expectations so it was a little bit down but facebook's earnings went relatively well despite the company whining so profusely that apple's analytics blocking was going to tank their income so despite apple allowing customers the choice to choose whether or not they are tracked by third-party applications facebook seemingly did well enough other news stories of the week apple continues to crack down on leakers especially this time in china we saw a prominent leaker getting a letter from apple uh basically saying to reveal your sources or you will be prosecuted the leaker has showing off a bunch of you know unreleased iphones and such like that there's a whole underground network coming out of china people through foxconn or apple that are stealing parts and giving them two leakers who are showing them off and apple has been really pushing lately we have reported other stories in the past of apple sending like cease and desist letters to prominent leakers and now we have another one coming out of china saying that they are specifically going to be prosecuted if they do not turn over their source so just another kind of tactic from apple and apple's local legal team there in china we also saw that apple's new mac pro is said to use intel's ice lake xeon w 3300 cpus not apple silicon right away so apple's still in this two-year transition to apple silicon and the mac pro is of course going to be pretty much the last one to make the jump to apple silicon apple started out with the m1 which is a very consumer level processor prioritizing battery life as well as performance but really you know mobile portability all of that with that processor it doesn't really have support for more than one more than two thunderbolt ports on there it also is capped at 32 gigs of ram and something like that would never work in a mac pro that can handle way more than that so apple was definitely need a newer processor to go into the mac pro we didn't know when it was going to arrive but it looks like apple may eek out one more intel mac pro before transitioning or even at the same time maybe they'll introduce an intel and an apple silicon at the same time allowing pro customers the choice to choose which route they would prefer to go down so it is something to take into consideration if you're in the market for a mac pro to be holding off for either the new iceland xeon processor or apple silicon because both should be coming much sooner rather than later our final story of the week that i want to talk about is apple's at betas apple did release the next beta of ios 15 as well as ipad as 15 and the rest of the lineup homepod apple tv mac all of that has come out and what is really interesting is that apple is really waffling with safari on mobile uh this time in the latest beta apple is actually reverting safari to the old tabbed interface on ipad so an ipad os 15 beta 4 apple is reverting it to the old tabbed interface but they've added a new toggle within settings where you can go between the new compact ui or the older tabbed interface so you have the choice now to choose between those which one you prefer but apple really hasn't been able to stick with the safari changes we saw more safari changes coming to iphone including the change of the share button and the refresh button a lot is really changing so we have no idea where safari is going to end up when it ships this fall let me know what you guys think are there other stories that you want to hear about let me know over on twitter at andrew underscore osu and stay tuned there's always so much more video coming youwelcome everyone
