Galaxy Note 10.1 Tablet Unboxing & first boot

Unboxing Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 Tablet

As I held the tablet, I couldn't help but notice its sleek design and premium feel despite being made of plastic. The 10.1 inch screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels seemed like a great starting point for an Android device. I also noticed that the back of the tablet featured a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, as well as a SIM card slot, allowing users to add a third SIM or expand storage capacity using a micro SD card.

Moving on to the front of the tablet, I found a 3.2 megapixel camera and a microphone jack, which seemed like standard features for most Android devices. On the sides, I saw two speakers, one on each side of the tablet, which might improve sound quality compared to other tablets in its class. The power button was located on this end, along with the proprietary connector used for charging. Notably, there were no buttons or ports on the sides or back of the device.

As I powered on the tablet, it quickly booted up, and I found that it had some juice, indicating a decent battery life. The S Pen was also present, which is an innovative feature that allows users to take notes, draw, and even multitask with various apps. This tablet is part of Samsung's Galaxy Note series, known for its advanced features and user-friendly interface.

Before setting up the device, I noticed that it came pre-installed with various apps, including a web browser. The web browser was surprisingly fast and responsive, handling tasks like browsing, streaming video content, and playing back videos embedded within web pages without any issues. However, after briefly testing the tablet, I had to skip through some setup procedures.

In my initial impression, this Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet seems promising, especially considering its impressive features like the S Pen, speakers, and cloud storage provided by Dropbox for two years. With a starting price of $800, this device may appeal to those seeking a premium Android experience with an innovative stylus and robust multimedia capabilities.

Let's take a closer look at some of these features in more detail:

The Android Version

-------------------

As I went into the settings menu on my Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet, I found that it came pre-installed with the Android version 4.4. It is likely that this device will receive updates to the newer Android Jelly Bean version soon.

The Apps That Came Pre-Installed

---------------------------------

Before setting up any additional apps, I was presented with a list of various Samsung-provided applications, including a web browser, music player, and messaging app. Each of these apps was functional and performed their respective tasks without any issues.

Using the Web Browser

-------------------

I decided to test out the web browser on my Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet to see how it handled browsing and multimedia content. The first thing I noticed was that the browser loaded quickly, showcasing a responsive user interface. In addition, the app performed well when playing back video content embedded within web pages.

Multitasking with S Pen

----------------------

One of the standout features of this device is its innovative S Pen stylus, which allows users to take notes, draw, and multitask with various apps. Upon opening the note-taking app, I was able to browse the internet simultaneously without any issues. This feature offers a great way for users to stay productive while on-the-go.

Conclusion

----------

In conclusion, this Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet is an impressive device with numerous features that make it suitable for various user types. With its S Pen stylus, speakers, and cloud storage provided by Dropbox, this device appears to be a great addition to the Android ecosystem. As I mentioned earlier, it has some minor drawbacks, such as being made of plastic and lacking buttons or ports on certain sides. Nonetheless, these issues are outweighed by the numerous strengths that make this tablet an attractive option for users seeking a premium Android experience.
