Huawei P40 Pro Plus and Wireless SuperCharge Review

The Wider Field of View on the S20 Ultra Delivers a More Dramatic Image

I recently had the opportunity to try out the ultra-wide-angle camera feature on my Samsung Galaxy S20, and I have to say that it was quite impressive. The wider field of view on the S20 Ultra delivers a more dramatic image in this scene, and I think it's because of the larger sensor size compared to the standard S20 model.

My friend Michael Fischer recently posted a video where he went on a photo walk with his S20 Ultra, and I was inspired to try out my own camera. While I didn't get to go on the actual photo walk with him, I did manage to capture some great shots using my S20's ultra-wide-angle lens. Take this shot of the old truck for example - it looks pretty good, but just imagine how dramatic an ultra-wide-angle shot could look like as can be seen in these photos.

The P40 Pro Plus vs S20 Ultra: A Comparison

Now, let's compare the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra to the Huawei P40 Pro Plus. Both phones have impressive cameras, but they also have some differences that set them apart from each other. One of the main differences is the ultra-wide-angle camera feature on the S20 Ultra. As can be seen in these photos, the wider field of view on the S20 Ultra delivers a more dramatic image compared to the P40 Pro Plus.

Another difference between the two phones is the AI-based software features that come with the P40 Pro Plus. These features include being able to remove passers-by from a photo and reflections from glass, as well as old favorites like super slow-mo video capture. The S20 Ultra also has some great camera features, but they're not quite as extensive as those on the P40 Pro Plus.

Low-Light Photo Performance: A Comparison

When it comes to low-light photo performance, both phones excel in this area. However, I personally think that the P40 Pro is a better value for the price compared to the S20 Ultra. The P40 Pro has excellent low-light photo performance without the need for night mode, and it's also more affordable than the S20 Ultra.

That being said, one feature that sets the P40 Pro Plus apart from the standard P40 model is 10 times optical zoom. This is something that you can't find on many other phones, including the S20 Ultra. Additionally, the P40 Pro Plus has superfast wireless charging, which is a convenient feature that not many phones offer.

Selfie Camera: A Personal Preference

When it comes to selfie cameras, I have to say that my favorite phone is the Samsung Galaxy S20. This is because of the way it makes me look in selfies - it's a personal preference, but I think it's because of the focal range and the way it doesn't aggressively highlight all my imperfections.

The P40 Pro Plus also has a dual selfie camera, which comes in handy when taking selfies that require more depth or better background blur. However, I have to say that I prefer the look of my S20 in selfies.

Q&A: Answering Your Questions

It's time for some Q&A! I answered some of the questions you left for me on social media, and I'm happy to share them with you here.

One question from a user asked how a smartphone experience is without Google Play Services. My response was that it's inconvenient, but not a deal breaker. With an app like Amazon App Store or APK Pure, most apps can be installed and used without Google Play Services.

Another question from a user asked if I could get YouTube on my phone using an app. My response was that you can use the YouTube app on your phone, but it's not the same as watching YouTube directly in a browser.

Finally, one question from a user asked about growing a beard - well, I'm afraid that's something that's just out of reach for me! However, I did share some rendering images from when Space App was still around to show you what it might be like.
