**Unboxing and First Impressions of the Xiaomi 5X**
The unboxing experience for the Xiaomi 5X is straightforward, with the phone itself being the primary component of the package. A plastic packaging surrounds the device, which can be easily removed to reveal the phone's sleek design. Alongside the phone, users will find a standard USB wall charger, an 8.2A output cable, and a sim ejector tool. The packaging also includes a manual and some documentation about the product.
**Design and Build Quality**
Upon closer inspection, the front-facing camera is visible on the device's upper portion of the screen. Below this camera lies a 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. This display features an LT-PSP LCD panel, which provides a 415 cd/m² brightness and a pixel density of 403 ppi. The device also boasts a metal frame that houses the USB Type-C port, the SIM tray, and three screws. On the bottom of the phone, users will find two touch capacitive buttons – home, multitasking, and back – while the power button and volume rockers are located on the right side.
**Camera Capabilities**
The rear camera setup consists of a dual-camera system with a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 12-megapixel secondary sensor. Both cameras feature a f/2.6 aperture and phase detection autofocus. The device also supports 4K video recording, HDR capabilities, and various modes such as portrait mode, panorama, and fully manual mode. Additionally, users can apply pre-installed filters before capturing a photo. The camera capabilities seem promising, but further testing will be required to determine the device's overall performance.
**Performance and Specifications**
Underneath the hood, the Xiaomi 5X is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset, which features a 2 GHz octa-core processor. The GPU is likely the Adreno 506, although this information may not be explicitly stated in the specifications. The phone comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, while a lower-end variant featuring 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage is also available.
**Battery Life**
The Xiaomi 5X boasts a fixed 3080mAh battery that should last for a full day from basic use. However, further testing will be required to determine the device's actual battery life in real-world scenarios.
**Software Experience**
The phone ships with MIUI 8.5 China variant, which means users will not have access to the Google Play Store or Google apps out of the box. It is likely that these can be installed at a later stage using various methods such as ADB or Google's own repair process.
