Hands on Onda v919 Air 3G dual boot a quick look at Windows 8.1

**Tablet Review: Windows 8 P98**

The Windows 8 P98 tablet has received mixed results during my testing period. Overall, it runs quite fast and is very smooth. The EMCC solid state drive on board is quite quick, with read speeds of around 11,160 MB/s and write speeds of 80,000 MB/s. This is more than adequate for most users, and I've had no major issues running Windows.

However, I have encountered some connectivity problems when using the internet. It seems that it's conflicting with my wireless router, resulting in limited connection and slow speeds at times. This issue has been consistent enough to warrant further investigation, but it's worth noting that Android also suffers from similar connectivity issues. In contrast, Internet Explorer in Metro mode appears to be one of the best options for browsing the web.

I've also had a couple of issues with my SD card, which would sometimes stop working after being read and recognized by Windows. This resulted in a hardware read error on my memory card, which was a bit frustrating. It's unclear whether this is related to the Windows ROM or not, but I'll be keeping an eye on it.

One notable feature of the P98 is its captive button, which allows users to quickly access various functions and settings without having to navigate through the menu system. This is a nice touch, as not all tablets offer this convenience.

The tablet also comes with an office license, which includes 6 months of desktop software. Getting around in Windows feels similar to other Chinese tablets, but I do appreciate the Apple-style screen design.

However, there have been some issues with downloading apps from the Windows Store. In my case, I've had trouble installing games like Ash 8, although it's unclear whether this is related to the internet connection or something else entirely.

**Build Quality and Design**

The build quality of the P98 tablet is generally good, if a bit flimsy in some areas. The plastic casing feels lightweight and may not provide the same level of durability as other tablets. Additionally, the antennas are built into the SIM card slot, which means that users will lose either 3G or Wi-Fi connectivity if they try to swap out an SD card.

The camera on the tablet is decent, although I've only been able to test it briefly. The connectors for charging and storage can be seen in the photo, but there's no HDMI port available for connecting external devices.

The speaker quality on the P98 is a mixed bag. In Windows, the volume seems slightly louder than in Android, but this may be due to configuration or driver settings rather than any inherent difference in design. What's certain is that the mono speaker is not particularly loud, and I've found myself having to listen more closely to hear what's being said.

**Gaming Performance**

I've been able to run some Metro apps on the P98, including a PDF viewer which seems quite fast. However, my attempts to download games like Ash 8 have been met with failure. It's unclear whether this is related to internet connectivity or something else entirely.

Once I can get some Metro games installed, I'll be happy to provide more details on gaming performance and compare it to other tablets in the same class. The P98 appears to be a solid choice for users looking for a Windows 8 tablet with decent build quality and performance.

**Comparison to Other Tablets**

The P98 will also be compared to another tablet, the Rival Tech Glass X98 A3G, which is a dual-booting device that can run both Android and Windows. I'll provide more details on this comparison in future articles.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enChris from tickets.com here with the Honda v919 a3g just looking a little bit more in detail of Windows 8 running on this tablet so overall the my opinions are that uh it does run quite fast uh it is very smooth the emmc solid state drive that is on board uh is quite quick from the testing I've done you get about 11 160 MB read and 80 right which is uh is more to the higher end when it comes to emmc drives and getting around in Windows I've had no real issues there but I have had a few connectivity issues when it comes to to using internet now and then I've just noticed that that maybe it's conflicting with my wireless router that I have had limited connection sometimes and it has been a little bit slow but only under windows in Android it seems to run quite well so I'll just go to website here quickly look at CNN and I've never visited it before so let's see how long it takes to load it's not too bad uh and it's it is smooth Internet Explorer in Metro mode does seem to be one of the best so there's no real problems there at the moment it seems to be running fine I did have a couple of issues with my SD card that it would read it and work fine and suddenly stop working and I would need to reboot the system it would have a hardware read eror on my memory card which is a uh a Sony Evo 64 GB and I'm not too sure whether that's down to the windows ROM but there's some video there running an Internet Explorer there's no problems and the captive button does work just a nice little bonus not all tablets have that so that is it's quite a nice little addition there and now it does come with office you do have an office license I think of 6 months desktop getting around is just the same as all the other Chinese tablets with this uh screen with the Apple WR screen no problems there running Metro apps everything is good this is just PDF viewer and it's quite fast uh and for some reason I've been trying to download on Windows oh there we go Ash 8 been trying to download that on the Windows store and it hasn't worked for some reason I'm not sure too sure why that is but I've been having trouble with Windows store might be related to the internet connection limited connection issues I've been having I need to look at that a little bit more in detail but uh seems to be when I'm trying to install these games there been this issues otherwise I would show you uh a game but once I can finally install Ash 8 here I will compare this to the tech glass x98 a so please do subscribe if you're interested in that so when the video does pop up you will see it so overall the tablet itself the build quality is good uh it is quite nice uh the the panel at the top here of course houses the SIM card and micro SD and it is a little bit of annoyance to me at least that if I did want to swap out a Micro SD card then I need to remove this but this also houses the antennas so in doing so you you lose either 3G or Wireless uh signal because the antenna is actually built into this plastic so you can see there there's the connectors that connect to the back of that camera will focus there we go and your your SD micro SD is right here so removing and replacing that uh could affect if you're downloading something well you probably have to to start the download again and it's a little bit flimsy not the best setup really and there's no HDMI port and the speakers on the bottom reasonable in Windows the loudness is not actually that loud it's not really that wonderful I I'll quickly show you on YouTube okay then double click the Y for some reason so we'll just do a bit of YouTube here and show you the speaker volume hello everyone welcome of we make the tlist tablet p98 you can say so this is a p98 a with all winner A8 inside and uh this is uh starting mass production already yeah so a nice looking a so the speaker volume actually in Windows is probably a little bit louder than in Android I don't know why but it's obviously configuration setup something to do with how Androids set up and maybe the drivers real Tech drivers on Windows be slightly louder but that is actually a mono speaker inside there I discovered I found some internal shots off this tablet and there are not actually two speakers there although there's two speaker grills there's only one speaker in there so that's just a quick look at Windows once I can get some Metro games installed I will run them and I'll show you what gaming is like and we'll compare this also against uh the Rival tablet dual boot tablet which is the tech class x98 a3g so thanks for watching this video if you did like it please give me a thumbs up and see you soonChris from tickets.com here with the Honda v919 a3g just looking a little bit more in
