Belgium Chocolates: A Sweet Adventure

As we began our journey through the world of Belgian chocolates, it became clear that this was going to be an adventure like no other. The first indication of just how amazing these sweets were came when we discovered a stash of chocolates that looked like they belonged in a fantasy land. "Oh my God, oh my gosh, Belgium chocolates are so good, this is on another level," our host exclaimed, eyes widening with excitement. We couldn't agree more - the sheer amount of chocolate on display was overwhelming.

As we delved deeper into the stash, we came across a lovely note from "Guers De Le," which turned out to be a town in Belgium. This was followed by a special treat for one of us, which our host described as "crispy but soft." We couldn't help but wonder what this delight would taste like - and when it arrived, the sweet, sugary aroma wafting from the package was almost too much to handle.

Next up were the Speculatius cookies, a traditional Belgian treat that's sure to bring back memories of childhood Christmases. These spicy, gingerbread-flavored morsels were devoured in an instant - but it wasn't long before we found ourselves dreaming of dipping them in tea or coffee for an extra-special treat. Our host's enthusiasm was infectious, and soon we were both craving these tasty treats.

But not everything was quite so straightforward. We encountered a peculiar candy called Cuberdon, invented in 1873, which our host described as "almost like lavender" - although it seemed to have undergone some sort of mysterious transformation over the years, resulting in a hard, jelly-like texture that didn't quite live up to its promise.

Then there were the Grenades, a type of sour candy that left us both gasping in surprise. These tiny little sweets may not look like much at first glance, but trust us - they pack a punch. With their puckeringly sour taste and delightfully tart aftertaste, we found ourselves begging for more.

After the Grenades came the infamous Mannequin Piss, which left our host feeling rather queasy. We won't lie - this one was definitely an acquired taste. But despite its off-putting appearance, it turned out to be a surprisingly tasty treat - especially when paired with some milk chocolate. It's clear that these Belgians know how to push boundaries when it comes to sweets.

Next up were the Galates, small, waffle-like treats covered in chocolate and sprinkled with sea salt. These were an instant hit with our host, who declared them "thumbs up" - although we couldn't help but note their tendency to crumble at every turn. A minor quibble, perhaps, but one that didn't detract from the overall experience.

Finally, we arrived at the Fruit de Chocolats of the Sea, a sweet treat shaped like miniature seashells and filled with soft, chocolatey centers. These were an instant favorite - especially for our host, who declared them "really good" and seemed utterly fascinated by their delicate flavor profile.

But perhaps the most surprising discovery of all was the Fruit de Chocolats Seaside Towns. These little candies came in a variety of shapes and sizes, each one more delightful than the last. We found ourselves marveling at the intricate details on each piece - from seahorses to starfish, every candy seemed to have its own unique charm.

As we drew to a close, our host turned to us with a mischievous grin and declared, "This is like floral soap - it tastes like my grandma's shower!" We couldn't help but agree - there was something undeniably special about these Belgian sweets. And as we packed up the last of the stash, our minds were already racing ahead to our next sweet adventure.
